Genuinely major crash and burn for Zynga.

Perhaps a prophetic sign for the "social gaming" bubble.

bottom line --

when steam has a major-level user account security breach (and they will because it is happening every other week with major companies these days) this proactively protects their corporate butts.

the 'cloud' comment in the article is clueless. If only the cloud was the IT answer to everything for everyone.

if it can actually run at 60 frames per second on all games made for it? That would be interesting.

that rockband iOS article really sets a terrible (but not surprising) precedent. The apps you buy? Nope -- Not really yours.

the word "libertarian" was co-opted by the tea party. It will be 20 years before Americans can use that word again and have it mean something like it did before. Its a shame because it is a handy word.

agreed Verno -- I buy jrpg's hoping they will be more like the ones from the 90's but its all cut-scenes and glossy stuff. Persona 3's comabt was interesting if you can get thru the dating simulation parts....

Very good point Bhruic. Hadnt thought about that and you're right.

"My only real complaint about NV would be the amount that it was broken up (for consoles I assume). Had it had less loading areas, I think it would have been fine."

I got FFXIII for 5 bucks last week -- that game was for me the exact opposite of what I would ever want in an RPG. HOURS of cutscenes with adolescent characters. Battle was mostly automatic. RPG character building was surprisingly super-linear. Yikes.

"Point Lookout" for FO3 had a marvelous set of mini-stories if you read the texts along the way, and the swampy atmosphere was dead-on. I was surprised how good it was.

New Vegas was indeed better in terms of writing than FO3 but you have to agree that New Vegas (the city) itself was tiny and disappointingly so. In some ways New Vegas felt rushed to publication. C. Avellone is the key to what made NV good.

Worst major game release of 2012.

Not that any of the major game reviews sites will actually say that in December.

D3 might serve is a warning sign to other developers wanting to make mandatory-on-line, real-money-auction-house type games. Time will tell.

For non-touchscreen users, windows 8 actually add more clicks to do normal things. Your only real alternative is to use keyboard shortcuts.

The writer of the editorial has no idea what he is talking about.

I was one of the idiots who bought Heroes VI at release. Even without the DRM insanity, the game was released unfinished. One of my worst game purchases ever. Right up there with Gothic III.

amazon's inventory and giant selection to choose from means that local stores (of some types) are already killed.

Same day delivery is nice but I think amazon has already 'won' consumers without it.
