it was one of the few launch games for both new consoles so you dont need a crystal ball to see that it would sell well.

Willing to bet this game will be on a DLC overload. I'd wait for the gold edition.

They never did that with ME 2 or 3, so why would they now?

Criterion partnering with EA did not go well for anybody.

it is easy to forget after the release but before release there were lots of delays and then a big one in late development. I suspect there is more to the story than the public will ever see.

And when you consider the man's obsessive personality and concern with anonymity, the article could really send the guy into mental illness.

Readers pillory Newsweek for ‘outing’ Bitcoin creator.

I'm glad we have a free press, but publishing the guys house and car with license plate number was a dick move given that bitcoin is used by a lot of criminals. The guy lives with his 93 year old mother.

All the shoes havent yet dropped at SONY. The corp is having a major cash crunch with a firesale of long-owned flagship buildings.

Their stocks are officially junk status.

Wish the company well but I suspect there's more bad news ahead for SONY.

Devs went ballistic over the changes made in OpenGL 3. It basically killed 90% of dev interest in OpenGL.

I agree -- it is the long lines of basic stat nodes that feel like filler. Great game in any case.

The giant skill tree is both a strength and weakness of the game.

Once you look at it carefully you realize there's some filler in there that could just be excised and the game would be even more fun.
Filler? I'm guessing you mean the basic stat nodes and such. I don't think those are just filler. It's part of the design that makes this sort of skill tree workable. It would be a mess if every node was a keystone or notable skill.

The noticeable advantages to gamers of 11 over 10 were not great. I hope 12 offers a real reason for devs to use it and gamers to like it....

taking inflation into account, games have been getting cheaper and cheaper. I've been paying around $50 for a "aaa" game for the past 20 years.

True though the Great Recession has something to do with that too.

Plues, companies that make AAA games are largely very hurting right now and are looking for new fiscal models.

Yes but if the trend continues for studios to let go dev teams almost immediately after a game is released, it would make more sense to hire all of them on contract since they arent going to be retained FT anyway. From a staffing manager's perspective, chronic purges of staff eventually creates a "why bother" attitude in most of the staff, and that's a really bad thing. Put them on contract with an end date with the option to retain longer as needed.

I like Amazon but considering how much many they make on ebooks they really should be selling the paperwhite kindles for 50 bucks max. 120 is a ripoff.

GS calls it "easy short and shallow:"

The game was repeatedly delayed and endlessly pre-sold at full price.

The blues forums are great these days but there was a 3 year period several years ago where some posters were basically screaming at each other about the legalities of software ownership. It was blotting out all other discourse.
