Sadly, this game should be avoided by all.
Even if you dont mind the very annoying on-line requirements, the simplified strategy versus previous games will drive you nuts after about 10 hours.
Healing is way too easy for all troop types and you can quickly build up large numbers of troops -- so its all about zerg rushing and then keeping your troops healed in combat as they fight. None of this is HOMM as anyone knows it.
The gameworld looks pretty but that's about all I can say nice about the game. |

Agree with Beamer -- the arrival of the new Wii means MS and SONY have to step up to the plate or lose.
The current consoles are maxed out tech-wise and you can just about hear them groaning trying to perform 30 fps.
I think MS is "going all in" with that rumored DVR/Xbox hybrid for XMAS 2012. And it will be expensive and it might flop. |

| all great points/insights but like you say, we need to see a full-fledged game that is actually good that also uses those great megatextures. Otherwise yea disappointed with the Rage engine. I suspect Carmack is too. |

V, c'mon we knew that. The question is why the ship is named after that particular demi-god and not say, Zeus. And further, Promotheus biggest role is that he gifted fire to humanity and was then brutally punished for it. Not all ancient versions of the Prometheus story have him as the creator of humanity. Fire in Ancient Greek is written like "technos" and yes that where we get the word technology from. A lot has been made of that over the centuries.
My point is that we will get some form of origin story out of the film and it will likely refer to the race from the derelict ship. Conjecture I know

It is a Greek God, the creator of human kind.

| The movie's title 'Prometheus' might refer to the race of giants on the dead ship, or possibly it could refer to an origin story about the "Alien" race or both, if you get my drift? |

Good point Beamer but that's only one example screen of NXE's interface. If you google NXE and then "images" you'll see lots of NXE screens that take up the whole screen (with useful info relevant to the subscreen you are on). The username screen (avatar) and game achievement screens for example.
Also notice that with NXE the entire horizontal portion of the screen is often filled with info? With Metro, not the case. Left and Right is basically blank space to grab onto using kinect.
The bottomline for me "is it better?" And I gave it quite a few chances to show me that it is better than what came before.
Thankfully Skyrim for has been keeping my away from the xbox lately.

i want this game to be excellent but the gameplay vids so far have me worried. _Very_ faithful to the Alien universe but the gameplay elements looked generic and undercooked.
Hoping for the best anyway |

1. enormous amount of dead space all around the "squares" that are used for nothing, with little squares too densely packed in the middle. The "themes" use this dead space but nothing else. The thing is -- the previous 360 interface used themes too of course, but didnt have that crazy amount of dead space.
2. Game marketplace used to allow one to look at everything that is new in simple chronological order by default: now you have to go to different "squares" and then sub-squares" to get the same info, not once but a few times. Formerly I could get this info in 3 steps.
3. Finding sales and promos is harder than ever -- this info is scattered all over. I dont even look anymore.
What would fix most of my beefs?
to make "shortcuts" on the first "home" tab to the things I want to execute, whether it is Netflix or marketplace arcade games, etc. In other words, a sorta windows desktop of shortcuts.

I am fairly unhappy with the new "metro" interface on the 360, so news that the next console will be tablet driven is not the best news. |

all good points but then again we are avoiding the very standard CEO practice of being 50+ and wanting to relax with your millions. Yes you can be Jobs and die CEO, but he is by far the exception to the general practice.
I dont get the "Gabe is obsessed with health" thing: he is really big and getting obese from the recent photos I have seen. Maybe someone knows something I dont know but he certainly doesnt look obsessed with health? Not meant to be snarky but c'mon Gabe is really looking big. |

it will be interesting what happens to Steam whenever it is bought out by somebody else (aka whenever Gabe wants to cash out and retire).
I'd be at least a tiny bit nervous if I had lots of games on Steam. |

And if you go to a BB in NYC, it mostly 20-something staff with an impressively inappropriate nasty-mouth gangsta attitude. Almost humorous what they get away with in front of customers. Ah NYC. |

Y, Well said.
'Anonymous' is just the first wave of what will be globally common in the 21st Century -- internet attacks by the "populace" and specifically leveraged for political/social reasons. For better or worse. |
