CJ the UBI post states that some games including HOMMVI are "unplayable" (Ubi's wording) during the transition, including single player.
unless you see more info on that link than I do? |

I am one the fools who bought their HOMM VI game (V is actually better then VI to give folks some idea what's up with VI).
Ultra annoyed that the single player goes down when their servers go down. |

I tried to bring this topic up here in the past but it is usually shot down with a comment like "Steam is too big to fail and/or get sold off to another company, so dont worry about it."
Backups via Steam? That might work with some steam games but I wouldnt bet on that as a solution across the board.
Time will tell, but the underlying issue is that we purchased the "right" to play them via Steam. And that's all we purchased.

I suspect the money is running out at ID on top of other things.
I recall vividly the arrival of Doom 3 and my genuine shock at how terrible that was (as both a game and an engine). |

Verno that is good to know but I have to express a little skepticism that that will actually pan out as you say. We'll know in 3 months time I suppose!

| warpcrow I agree but at the same time, the working condition in the foxcon factories are unusually slave-like and it happens there on a huge scale. I am surprised Apple doesnt get more heat from consumers about the issue.... |

For me the Vita went from a "must buy" (my long train commutes) to "wait for 2nd generation."
having said that, the latest bundle with the 8 gig card is a step in the right direction for those who want a Vita at launch. |

I buy virtually all my console games used on Amazon for less than 15bucks each. Amazon itself is the reseller and sells them in "like new" condition -- no scratches on them ever.
It makes console gaming cheap cheap cheap if you dont care about playing the latest game upon release.
Truly and sincerely -- I have zero interest in paying 60 USA bucks plus tax for any new console game. MS must hate me and my kind. |

| the only downside is that amazon would occasionally discount the point cards so that you were getting 5 extra bucks on the 4000 point cards. I dont think that will be happening anymore. |

it was not that simple. Netflix was getting significant pressure to pay lots more $$ for digital content by the owners of digital content. And ISP's were asking for $$ because they said netflix was using too much of their bandwidth.
The jig was up for netflix from a few fronts.
The actual bad news for consumers is that all of the above makes cable TV companies very very very happy. Its like its the 80's all over again. |

after the demo -- felt more like an "action RPG" ready-made for the PSP. Generic totally agree, but polished generic.

| indeed the most interesting thing about the story is that the USA movie and music industry was able to get this guy busted all the way in New Zealand. There's not many locations more remote from the USA than New Zealand and a whole lot of money on lawyers must have been spent to make the arrest actually happen. |
