i wish them well because there's talent. And New Vegas was good.
But at the same time they keep making C++ games with bits of A+ in them.
And I'll just say it -- Neverwinter Nights 2 was truly a dog, even after all of the patches. The engine itself was cruddy, the party AI scripting still to this day does not work. And the story could not have been more generic. |

| Ars Technica is starting to lose some of my respect. The quality of writing is all over the place these days (still not remotely as bad as IGN though) |

the super glossy glass on tablets is terrible for actually sitting down and reading a book. e-readers for the most part have a matte finish.
This is one of those practical points that tech reviewers dont even mention in their reviews of new tablets. |

| rumors so far are that this SimCity will be very simplified in gameplay to appeal to a broader consumer market. I wouldnt pre-buy this one! |

San Andreas was great but the plot and characters stopped making sense about half-way thru. Also, it was hilarious that most of the main characters were gang-bangers but there was no character under 25 years of age in the various gangs. I suspect it was because of the depiction of drug-use in the cut scenes but that's just a guess.
Rockstar keeps trying to make coherent plots in their sandbox games but they never quiiiite get there. |

the last spiderman movie was not dreadful. Emma Stone rocks.
Dreadful was the last Superman movie -- an unwatchable mess.

| I was hoping for the animated characters to be higher res in the "enhanced version." We always knew the painted backgrounds couldnt be re-sampled so that's fine. As it is, the game gets gets too fuzzy when zoomed in. All things considered, 800x600 isn't the worst thing to play BG in and I am not particularly impressed by the enhanced version. |

Sorry folks but this plan has about a 10% chance of winning market share:
1. you've got new shiny consoles coming out in less than a year. Console folks know those names and brands. They will have no idea who "steam and Valve" are. That's a problem.
2. The Valve box will be underpowered versus the desktop PC's of many gamers because it MUST compete via price. AND It will have to compete with the new $399 consoles of 2013. And many gamers already have PC's.
What consumer is Valve aiming for exactly and are those consumers numerous?
I like the idea Valve is presenting but in reality it will just be another low-power device that underwhelms most gamers. They will vote with their wallets. |

| I fully experienced UPlay with Heroes VI (google for the various chronic issues that occurred there). That was more than enough rational reason to stay away from UPLay for good. As always YMMV! |

ArsTechnica complains about the enemi AI: the nice thing about FarCry 1 was that enemies in outdoor levels would not simply run straight at you.
"The enemy artificial intelligence is also a low point. The waves and waves of pirates that come at you in many missions have a distressingly low sense of self-preservation, often charging your position at full speed, running out in the open just to be shot down easily. Other times they’ll stand there stupidly at point blank range, waiting for you to pivot around and kill them before they react. When the game wants to turn up the difficulty, it usually just throws more of these pirates at you" |

I've been playing most of my Steam PC games via HDMI to a plasma TV for well over 2 years now. The nvidia driver is already very smart about outputting to a TV's resolutions.
Not entirely sure what the big deal is |

As long as apple computers cost 25% more than PC's, MS has a lifeline.
Tablet are eroding the computer markets -- that one slide was true. |
