Cold Stream "BETA" has been available to play for so long now, it just doesn't seem that news worthy (not directed at you Blue); however, I may be interested in playing it again to see how well it polished out.

I was the most die-hard day-one game purchaser in the world for years but these companies have finally taught me to wait and give them less. Yup, I am right there with you; less money and less aggravation.
I have plenty of games in my library to keep me busy until the new game releases have been on the market for a while and drop from $59.99 to $20.00 and less. But, I don't think I have any interest in this title whatsover.

IMHO I think this type of game - Grid based dungeon crawler with a modern polish - was released at a very favorable time, but I just don't know if an XP or sequel would be as favorable due to that novelty fading away. I could be wrong, but I just think the timing was right with LoG......

And frankly, while the time may have passed now, I used to expect better out of id.
Yeah, I guess that is why it is so frustrating and disheartening.

"The content of this game is suitable for persons aged 18 years and over only. It contains: Extreme violence - Strong language"...pop-in low res textures, along with invisible walls all over the place due to poor and lazy level design. And if that isn't enough, we don't stop there folks, it will also have 'Always on DRM’ thanks to CreativeLESS Director of id Software, Timmy Willits who is a fan boy of 'Always on DRM'".
Yeah, dick sarcasm aside, I don't think I am very interested in this DLC after the abortion of a launch of RAGE. I too tried to get into RAGE several times, but I couldn’t, and never even finished the game.
It is laughable that they have the audacity and stupidity of announcing the DLC BEFORE they even fix the game and/or release the promised mod tools. It is pretty sad, as I ‘used’ to be a major id Software fan, but they’ve been left behind on their own pioneered trail…….

Re: Razer Tiamat 7.1 True Surround Sound Headset Review |

I have a pair of Razer Megalodons, which I have been very happy with, but figured I would get the Tiamat 7.1. I expected higher performance and quality with the Tiamats 7.1s over the Megalodons, but I ended up being 'very' disappointed. I have a Creative Labs X-fi Titanium Fatality Professional Series, so all the hardware requirements were met.
When I put on the Tiamat 7.1s and fired up Left4Dead 2, and a couple other 7.1 games, they sounded very tinny; the sound had no depth and/or substance to it whatsoever. Even after numerous adjustments on the headset control box and in the Creative console, they still did 'not' deliver. I put my Megalodons back on, and right away I could tell a night and day difference with depth and substance of sound. It is impressive they were able to cram that many drivers into each ear piece, but the positional audio wasn’t even that good either – front and side sounded the same.
I am a fan of Razer and their products, and I like and have been happy with every product of theirs that I own, but the Tiamats were a major letdown. Any positive review is skewed, unless the reviewer has never owned a pair of good headphones that produce sound with depth and substance.

OH YEAH!!! I like what I am seeing so far. I can't wait to place this and be on edge all over again. I'm liking the fact - well it appears - there is more outdoor play. Hopefully they're still on schedule for Fall 2012 release just in time for Halloween.

I'm glad to see some indicators that this project is still alive. When I first caught wind of it, I was very excited to play it and followed its progress for a while, then eventually lost interest. I just hope they finish it w/o rushing it, which seems to be the case already, and it is actually released sometime soon.

RailWizard wrote on Jun 8, 2012, 10:19: I think the tough time Arma has in general is that you practically need to be ex-military to play it with others. At least, the videos I've seen on youtube indicate this, where everyone seems to know all the military lingo and procedures.
I've been wanting to try some vanilla Arma II, but frankly I find that point above intimidating as hell, even with my great love for tac shooters. Yeah, I totally agree. I have a friend that is in a clan and they played a lot of ARMA II, so he knows the game very well. We have played some CoOp together, so that has helped me learn the mechanics of the game and such. If you want a challenge and something fresh over the other FPS games on the market, I would definetely take the ARMA II SP for a drive before jumping into the MP (excluding DayZ). I think you'll find the comparison very interesting.

They're going to have a tough time with rewarding sales on this one based on the timing of DayZ on a continuous popularity climb. Unless however, they tie in something with higher res character textures, or something like that, similar to what they did with 'ARMA II Reinforcements'. I’m sure all that is in discussions/planning already though. |

Classic Shell! Love it, and I believe it supports the 8 betas...
Thank you nin! I am definitely book marking that site should I need it in the future if MS doesn't allow for that option out of the box.

Boston wrote on Jun 6, 2012, 10:16: I agree. Not only that, Microsoft is giving the desktop second-class citizen treatment (no access to the latest Windows APIs, no free dev tools) and putting all its focus on Metro, where the end users can only get new applications through Microsoft's online store. It goes even further, desktop apps are only allowed on the store in website link form. They are really shafting their established base IMO. I'm not a dev but the ones at our company are really upset with the direction they seem to be going in and the heavy handed way they're doing it. On a personal note I'm pretty open minded and have been running Windows 8 for months now but I can't make myself like Metro. The odd juxtaposition between interfaces is too jarring, sometimes its ok to have two distinct products because a tablet interface is pretty much at odds with a desktop UI in terms of presentation and design goals.
If this is the future of Windows then I'm very interested in alternatives. I'm not a Windows 8 user, and will hold out as long as possible based on everything I've read/reviewed. With that said, I am only going by what I have read, reviewed, and seen, but it IMO Microsoft is trying to force UI on two different platforms: Tablet and Desktop. They should have two separate front ends for each, and the option to select which one upon a fresh installation of Windows 8, or some type of dual-boot option should you want to tinker with Metro.
Thoughts? |

It has strong potential. The dialogue and voice acting was actually really good. It had somewhat of a DE:HR feel to it, but I wish they would incorporate it with the first person view, with the third person view as optional when needed like what was done with DE:HR, which was well executed in that game. If they went that route, I would drop this on my list of future game purchases. I just can't immerse myself into a third person game like I can with a first person. I am a first person snob I guess.
