I'd love to know what sort of a hardware you'd need to get the kind of details shown in the trailer running at 1080p-60fps.
I doubt my GTX760 will cut it.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing; however, unless they've bumped them up recently, I recall the 'recommended' system requirements being pretty reasonable:

•CPU Core i5-2500T 2.3GHz or Phenom II X4 975
•GPU: GeForce GTX 480 or Radeon HD 6970
•RAM: 6GB
•OS: Windows 7,8,8.1 64bit
•HDD Space: 20GB

/shrug

Oh, and if the game actually looks that good on my PC (i7 2600K & 780ti), I'll be a happy gamer.

Where did you get those specs? The recommended specs listed on the GTA V website and Steam are:

Processor: Intel Core i5 3470 @ 3.2GHz (4 CPUs) / AMD X8 FX-8350 @ 4GHz (8 CPUs)
Memory: 8GB
Video Card: NVIDIA GTX 660 2GB / AMD HD 7870 2GB
Sound Card: 100% DirectX 10 compatible
HDD Space: 65GB

I really wish they would have some sort of standard for the minimum and recommended specs, say 720p30fps for min and 1080p60fps for recommended.

I have a GTX 660OC, but I'm still using a first gen i5 750. I started picking parts for a new PC build back in November, but never committed to it. I'm wondering if I should wait and see how my system handles before upgrading, or just go for it. I'm only concerned because the current generation CPU and chipsets have been out a while, and it seems about time for something new to be coming out soon. I'd be kind of pissed to build a new system with current gen parts, then next month they come out with new shit.

@Cl1mh4224rd & jimnms:

It was information I pulled from a quick search (article from January 2015), so thanks to both of you for the updated information.

Ravenholm never looked so good.

That doesn't creep me out as much anymore since I've played Amnesia: The Dark Descent.

I still need to play more then 15 minutes of, and finish, Outlast.

Nice to hear 'Better Call Saul' is turning out better than everyone here anticipated, as I too didn't give it much credence. Spin off characters/series from one that did so well is always a tough feat. I'll have to check it out now. Thanks all....
Hey, hey, HEY. What about the Friends' spinoff Joey?? C'mon, that was great!

Grin.....woops, yup, how could I forgot about that one?

My thoughts exactly. WTF is it even there in the first place, other than being intrusive?

EA = Electronic Assholes!!!

That seems reasonable...5 hardware changes in a 24 hour period is pretty rare. I can think of one time I would have had that many in one 24 hour period and it involved reinstalling windows multiple times so I wasn't worried about playing games during that process.

A simple email to the main address like Valve does might be easier on all fronts. When valve sees a new machine they just send a code to your email and ask you to type is in, then it's all good.

EA's solution seems easier on their end to support but at the end of the day you do not want to be locking out legit customers at any time.

I guess my point is, which I believe was Creston's too, is if 5 hardware changes within 24 hours would be so rare, and if they already have Origin, then really WTF is the point? Unless they know of a flaw in their own system (Origin) that isn't widely known yet. I guess I just don't understand what they're really gaining.

Yeah, I agree with you on the way Valve/Steam addresses it, it is much easier.

Normal usage would never see 5 hardware changes in 24 hours so this would never impact anyone except someone trying to benchmark, but at the same time it's still bullshit that it's in there. You already have Origin. Why do you need extra DRM shit?

Or let you deactivate your game. Which is something all these companies including Microsoft with their OS activation should have done a long time ago.
Even Apple allows you to do that.

Didn't Crysis 2 allow you to 'deactivate' the game on a particular PC? That sticks in my memory for some reason, but I could be wrong. /shrug...

Although 100 square mile landscape is quite large, I wonder if UE4 is even capable of infinite landscape like Unity is? One of the major Alpha updates to 7 Days to Die was infinite 'randomly generated' landscapes, which is pretty incredible and fun to explore. They (The Fun Pimps (Developer)) are in the process of converting over to Unity 5 and the game is looking awesome, and the game keeps getting better and better with each and every Alpha release. A11 is due sometime this month.

If you've never played 7 Days to Die (7DTD), or it has been a while, it is well worth checking out. The developers are very hands-on with the community and are continually updating the game towards gold. I don't purchase Alpha release anymore, but this certainly has been worth every penny spent (and beyond), and every fun game hour.

Probably the same cereal that Steven Hawking eats, and Einstein ate.

I have to wonder what John's thoughts are on the current engine war.

I bet a part of him misses it. The industry sure wouldn't be where it is today if wasn't for his pioneering and sharing his wealth of knowledge.

But isn't this what all older generations say? And the generation that grow up with things just uses it and it becomes the norm?.....

Absolutely, but can't help being amused by the visual (no pun intended).
