Dead Space, anti-aliasing override
Are you fucking kidding me? It only took them like 2 fucking years to do this? I would have killed for AA in that game when I played it.
Anyway...
Oh, and I use more than 4xMSAA in several games and have had no crashes with these drivers.
Most of my info was gleaned from:
http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=189759http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=335924If it's any consolation, I hear it causes the textures to blur somewhat in Dead Space, some posts indicate it needs to be forced w/ some AA bits craziness I have not yet bothered to understand. I don't own the game, so I can't test.
There is some mention of a Dead Space 2 profile being added in the post I read, but it was unclear if they meant it had AA or not... Just mentioning in case you are a fan of the series.

They added AA to another game too, but couldn't find/remember the name.
Regarding the >4xAA bug, I guess it doesn't affect all cards (I have GTX 480). I was an early reporter of the problem in the nVidia thread, made my PC hard-lock in BFBC2.
Here are some relevant quotes from ManuelG (nVidia tech support) regarding the issue:
"It seems there are reports here of crashing with Anti-Aliasing enabled (sometime dependent on the level of AA selected). Can I get a list of games users are seeing crashing with AA enabled and what graphics card you have?"
"It looks as we have a repro for the high AA causing games to crash with certain cards. I expect this to be fixed with the next driver. For now, running at 4x AA or lower does not seem to have these problems. No further details needed for the high AA bug. Thank you all for your excellent feedback. For other bugs reports, please keep them coming."
