I'm more worried with THQ surviving one more year, period. THQ announced a few days ago it closed its dev houses in Spain and another country and it's now being hit by multiple class action lawsuits related to uDraw.

I don't think THQ can last much longer, not leaking money like this and getting hit with expensive lawsuits to boot.

Woah, is that the most brutal cancellation announcement ever? These type of announcements don't usually go into this much detail.

A bloody great game, surprisingly the consensus on the game being good was almost global here.

Well, I like my Asus Transformer so unless these tablets offer a competitive price I can see Android tablets beating these ones. It will all come down to the price and the CPU/GPU combination.

The more obvious "100-0 K/D" cheaters are actually pretty rare as people have to pay monthly fees for their hacks these days (comedy gold) so they're often smarter with them.
What the fuck is wrong with competitive games these days? What kind of enjoyment can you get from winning an unfair game?

Well, when you're 14/280 lbs you'd be surprised what counts as entertainment.

I can say that because I was 14/280 lbs back in 1991. Once I worked myself to a point I can enjoy mental/physical challenges I do.

It's the nature of the beast OTOH other developers can/do stay a step ahead of most of the cheaters out there, but not DICE/EA.

And the more I hear about cheating in BF3 the more I blame DICE. They seem to take an attitude of simply not giving a single fuck! I mean, with this kind of support who is willing to buy more games from them if they'll get so many cheats it kills fun but DICE won't move anything against them?

Didn't DICE say before BF3 got released they would take an aggressive stance on cheating? DICE is killing its own game and their own reputation on the PC.

I've never seen cheating, though it may be I'm just not attentive enough (and I haven't been playing a lot of BF3). I noticed it all the time in COD:MW2; at least one aimbot and/or wall hack every time played.

From what I read the problem with BF3 cheating is that it's not on your face, it's actually quite subtle. It's rare for cheaters to have a 300K-0D sessions but rather a 40K-5D kind of sessions. Verno here read the same article in reddit I did about that self-confessed cheater and what he saw when he used the cheat.

An unusual article from kotaku, it's actually informative and rather fascinating. Still I feel no sympathy for cheaters though I wish a system could be put in place, a global system, where MP games would send cheaters to a specific server. This way cheaters would only play with cheaters, kinda like Max Payne 3 is going to do through matchmaking.

If we can't beat them, let them play all together in the same place then.

Free is free, so obviously it's worth it to pick both of them up, but don't be fooled by the Ultima name in the games. Neither game has really anything to do with Ultima other than cheap name placements, and their quality is Worlds Below the actual Ultima games.

Well, the hero of those Ultima Worlds is the same of the regular Ultimas, the Avatar. And even if Worlds is inferior to the regular Ultimas I have a feeling these 2 Worlds are still head and shoulders above most RPGs today in terms of RPG goodness.

It would take like 5 minutes with a Sharpie to take the Avatar out of them, kind of like how Ultima Underworld 1 (a great game) had basically nothing to do with Ultima past some handwaving in the first 10 minutes.

Oh yes, absolutely. The Avatar is only there much like the Ultima name is, to attract more people. Personally I didn't think both Worlds RPGs were bad. Not on the level of the Ultimas but certainly not bad at all, they were quite enjoyable if you managed to forget these were supposed to be Ultima games and played them as their own games.

Yeah. Even if I thought the expansion was on the expensive side I was actually hoping this expansion brought changes to the gameplay and not more of the same. That the AI is still as bad as it was is certainly the worst part for me.

Well, the reviews show what many of us already said, the G&K expansion is not worth the money. Then again, people will spend money mindlessly anyway and call other cheapstakes for having common sense on knowing when to spend money or not.

I don't think you're a cheapskate for not buying this, that's your decision. However, I do think you're being a dick for implying I'm mindless because I have a different opinion from you. This is my decision.

Fair and true, this was aimed at that guy that said in the last CivV thread that anyone not buying this was a cheapstake. It's your money, do with it what you want, even if I personally believe people should make more informed purchases.

One of the big complaints about Origin is that their prices are terrible, and now I guess one one of the big complaints is going to be that their prices are too low. Yay gamers.

Where is anyone in this thread complaining about prices? Nobody is, we're pointing that EA's attitude is deeply hypocritical after they said last week deep discounts cheapen IP and they'll never do it.

I don't know why I bother.

THIS sale does not make him a hypocrite. THIS sale is 40% off. He specifically said 75% off.

Secondly, I'm still pretty certain you were calling 40% off hypocritical.
And I don't see a single sale over 40% right now, contrary to what theyarecomingforyou is saying. Even clicking "deals" shows just the 40% off. Clicking anything else is showing full price.

Then these discounts are different per country. Me, I see NFS:HP and DA:O cut from €50 to €5, for instance.

As for that Origins boss being a hypocrite, his quote:

Q: One of the things that Steam does is this random deep-discounting of software, and it works well for them. Do you see that as something you want to do?

David DeMartini: We won't be doing that. Obviously they think it's the right thing to do after a certain amount of time. I just think it cheapens your intellectual property. I know both sides of it, I understand it. If you want to sell a whole bunch of units, that is certainly a way to do that, to sell a whole bunch of stuff at a low price. The gamemakers work incredibly hard to make this intellectual property, and we're not trying to be Target. We're trying to be Nordstrom. When I say that, I mean good value - we're trying to give you a fair price point, and occasionally there will be things that are on sale you could look for a discount, just don't look for 75 percent off going-out-of-business sales.

And then he does that today, even if for some parts of the world apparently. CVG has that deep discount and points it in the article, 90% discount for DA:O. And now apparently these discounts are only in specific countries.

Didn't Origin's boss said a few weeks ago they would never do deep discounts since it cheapens IP? Way to contradict yourself and be a hypocrite in a short time!

C'mon, this is a 40% off sale, you're going to say that's a "deep discount," relative to Steam, who does 75% off regularly?

Even you know better than that, but then again, you never jump on an opportunity to bash EA. Personally I don't find this hypocritical at all, nor do I find 40% off compelling enough to buy most of these games, let alone buy them on Origin over Steam...

You know what they say, you just lost a great chance to shut your mouth. Then again, any chance you take to spread misinformation and good stuff about the publishers you take it.

For those not reading the link, an example of deep discount: DA:O discounted by 90%.

Fine, that's a good link, but you're pulling pretty far with it. You called the guy a hypocrite for this particular sale, discussed in this particular thread, which is incorrect.

You should have put that link in your original post, and said "well, these discounts suck, but he hypocritically has already broken his 'no 75% off sales' with this DA:O sale."
Then you would have seen like less of a raving loon.

Stop digging. Really. You already are in a deep hole yourself. Not my fault you didn't even made the effort to compare the prices in origins and took word of mouth as fact. Then again, that's what you do always.

Also, this makes him a hypocrite. Last week he said discounts cheapen IP. This week he makes quite a deep discount on 18 titles. But I guess you're going to defend him even though it's indefensible but that's how you roll, publishers do no wrong.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaand... nobody cares. Not at this point, not anymore. Treyarch fucked things up badly with their PC support in BO1, no reason to trust them anymore. Hell, no reason to buy another CoD title that plays exactly like the past ones.
