I was being sarcastic, as many seem to think that DX10 and DX11 were marketing stunts rather than actual advances. Oh bull.
The reality is most people were upset that the DX10 features weren't available for XP, not that the features weren't real. |

WTF are these developers smoking? I don't understand, how that is a total fail? Perhaps they are thinking if you have the hardware to run high res, you likely have the latest gen cards on the market. Uh, yes, I have a good card, one with enough memory to run the high-res textures. But I'm running it on XP, which doesn't run DX-11. So to tie DX-11 to high-res textures as was stated in the release notes doesn't make a whole lot of sense. |

Pretty ridiculous this wasn't in from the get go.
WTF?
I can't remember the last time a game didn't allow basic things like "move forward" being mapped to the mouse. This is 2011, FFS. |

AFIK, the only game on that list to be refused classification in AU is Manhunt, the rest are freely purchasable from EB, JB-HiFi etc (and I own most of them, locally bought). I suspect their previous unavailability on Steam was related to arrangements with local distributors rather than the OFLC. What's wrong with Manhunt? |

Beamer wrote on Jan 6, 2011, 13:47: That will greatly reduce how annoying gaming this way feels, as you're now dealing solely with the transmission latency. Whether that makes it acceptable or not is clearly up for argument, but having less latency is always a good thing, even if not a good enough thing. LOL, you're joking right?
So they improved something that was what, maybe 5% of the overall latency to begin with?
Wow some people are really dense. Of course that's what OnLive is counting on.

OnLive will always be a niche product for the low-end gaming crowd.
Most people don't want to see crappy graphics on their new HDTV and crap latency when they've been used to decent responses from their PC / Xbox / PS3 / whatever.
Those hurdles will not be overcome in the foreseeable future. That type of bandwidth / latency response is 10 to 20 years out at the minimum. |

It's no different than Blockbuster versus Netflix.
B&M retailers are becoming dinosaurs when it comes to digital distribution.
Are they threatening not to sell CD's if they're also carried on i-Tunes?
Idiots. |

I keep hearing this yet no one can seem to substantiate this majority of people who are experiencing game breaking issues nor exactly what major problems they are supposedly facing.
Oh come on. A number of people on just this site needed to have a special version of a D3D dll just to keep the game from running like a slideshow. |

Unfortunate so many gamers accept a low level of quality when it comes to bugs these days.
Yes, the game is complex. And yes bugs are to be expected. But not at this level. |

Eh, your average gamer is an idiot who can't wait a while for the patch.
That's why companies do this - it makes money. |

Sounds like this may be the new business model for a lot of companies.
Release a game with minimal content at full price for the suckers who have no self control.
Then release the proper game a half year later for the rest of us. |

Hey gamers, what are you whining about?
Are you actually surprised that the game has bugs?
Here's an idea!
Wait a while until the game gets patched properly BEFORE buying it! What is it with this childish instant gratification problem you have?
Of course companies are gonna throw it out half baked when they know you spoiled children are gonna say gimme! gimme! I want it now whaaaah mommy whaaah!

From what I can tell Mafia 2 is a shadow of what Mafia 1 was. They purposely cut out material just so they could turn around and package it as DLC that you pay extra for.
No thanks. I'll pass. |
