With all the praise this game is getting, I'm really looking forward to playing it. I don't think I can remember the last time a game got universal positive reviews from actual players. Plan on getting it on Steam when I can afford it (damn bills!).

I must say, their one trailer (I think it's on Steam, and other places of course) where everything goes backwards in slow motions is an awesome trailer. It's to the same music. It was very "artistic."

Game is a day one pickup for me, and I am certainly surprised they didn't put a $29.99 price-tag on this one, they could have gotten away with it easily. The game is substantially bigger than the first one.

Question for people:

Will you still be singing Runic's praises when Torchlight 3, the subscription based (or possibly F2P micro-transaction) MMO, comes out?

Over the years here at Bluesnews, I've seen people praise a company one day and then do complete 180's when that company takes one of their franchises down the MMO route. Words like "greed" and "sell-out" take over those threads.

Well, it's a bit different for Runic, as they have said FROM THE VERY BEGINNING that they were planning on making an action MMO. Plus I don't think the gameplay would deviate that much from Torchlight now (at least not toward the grindy traditional MMO sense). Also, their track record thus far gives them more leeway before people start getting their pitchforks.

Well, looks like I'll be skipping this POS. Thanks Gabe, you douchebag.

Why would this make you skip it? Even if it's implemented, there's still going to be custom servers/modding. I'm pretty sure PC players and consoles players would segment themselves anyway, by themselves. Console players won't WANT to play with PC players once they realize they're going to get beaten all the time. And PC players will want to play with other PC players on servers they know.

I mean, if the there are other things you don't like about the game, that's fine (I'm not really sure if I'm that into it either), but to skip it just because of this reason is silly. You will not be forced to play with console players if you don't want to. The experience will be able to be skipped entirely.

Wow lots of butthurt towards Steam here. You do realize that publishers set the prices on Steam, not Valve? Do some research before you mouth off like a bunch of fucking retards.
Oh right, and Valve games are cheaper, huh? lol...

Portal 2, which just came out not too long ago, is now $29.99 (permanent price, not a sale). So yeah, most AAA games don't get that cheap that quick. Valve games ARE cheaper (or free).

Wow, I never knew jets that would normally fly hundreds of miles an hour and shoot missiles from a mile away just sat around having fights with machine guns all day. So exciting!

Well, if you want jets, some compromises have to be made. As you said, jets go hundreds of miles per hour. It would be difficult to put them in a map with infantry units, and not have the jet be able to cross the entire map in 1 or 2 seconds.

19. Re: BF3 & Origin Accounts Linked Aug 14, 2011, 02:16 Esoteric

Currently there is no way to change your EA ID/Origin account name, which was used for the BF3 alpha. If Origin wants to compete with Steam, there going to have to allow name changes (among MANY other things). But this one just pissed me off. I signed up for Origin (EA downloader, whatever) a while ago to get a free game. Now I'm stuck with that account name in every game for eternity? Stupid.

7. Re: Might & Magic Heroes VI Delayed Aug 12, 2011, 03:46 Esoteric

I have no idea what Ubisoft is trying to do. It's like they're actively trying to sabotage their PC division. They have draconian DRM, they delay PC releases (to their console counterparts), they refuse to give demos (even though they have them on console). I just...sincerely don't understand, both from a business standpoint or a gaming standpoint.

Trion is a good company, at least with what they've shown so far. Even if you don't like Rift, it's polished, they've been quick to throw out meaningful patches and content, and they've shown they listen to their customers.

But I do like Rift...in fact I love it. GOTY for me (until BF3

I actually like Rift too, I think it's a quality game, I just don't play it anymore. I think it has less to do with the game and more to do with me being burnt out on the current crop of MMOs. Hopefully GW2 will change things up a bit, and even if it doesn't, it won't have a sub so I'm much more likely to play it during dry spells.

I put one in a few days ago. Hope I get in, need a new aRPG to hold me over until Torchlight 2, Grim Dawn, and Diablo 3. Lately I've been playing Titan Quest with the Underlord mod, which is a GREAT mod.

Let me guess, Epic. It's a futuristic, sci-fi FPS with clunky armor and big guns, that will be ported from console to PC, and it will suck.
