Yeah, because they're horrible games and no one likes playing them.

I simply can't take Steam's rapid growth in the last year or so seriously. How many of the accounts are 2nd, 3rd, 4th (or more) accounts for one person to farm cards in these ARG games to sell for free money?

Huh? What do you mean? You can't get cards in F2P games without spending 10 bucks in them first.

Not Obsidian.

Of course not. After they shat all over publishers during their KS with vicious remarks against the EVUUUHHHLLL PUBLISHER OVERLORDS like Bethesda, I'm not surprised they are no longer getting any work.

Something is wrong with you.

I wonder what's going to happen to Desura. If the digital distribution platform is taken offline, and everyone loses their libraries, it won't be pretty. This might turn into a small preview of the Steampocalypse.

I've been saying this for years. People prefer ignorance and "convenience" though

some latent part of me still feels this way but, really, this is like not using gmail because you're just anticipating google goes under and takes all your email with it. how likely do we think this is going to be after 11 years of the platform being the center of the pc universe?

just as soon worry about the inevitability of resource depletion and electricity failure preventing you from playing games, too.

Haha, you suckers, playing your "video games" that need electricity. Once the power goes out, I'll still have my table top games I can play. You guys are a bunch of suckers!

You mean devs/publishers are on autopilot? Steam/Valve does not dictate the pricing, the devs/publishers do.

One of my favorite games. I bought an Awakening supporter pack to check out the beta and support the company (and get some points for those cosmetic effects).

They didn't announce it today so it's over. It would seem Valve is out of games development entirely now.

...except for the whole continuing very active support on 3 of the most popular PC multi-player games on the planet.

Haha, yep. Cutter doesn't think very much.

Is Besiege good?

This should answer your question: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gdh_L_ZIjkg Some funny stuff there.

The answer is YES! The game is awesome. Albeit, there is not a whole lot of "game" there yet, only 15 or so missions, but you can have hours of fun building machines. Definitely enough content to justify the 7 bucks.

News Comments > Free Unreal Tournament Plans
13. Re: Free Unreal Tournament Plans May 8, 2014, 16:12 Esoteric

I don't understand the negativity. They're going to listen to the community, and the community knows UT3 sucked and 2k4/99 were good. People CAN charge for mods, but there are going to be TONS of people who will make maps/mods for free.

It's PC only. It's not F2P, it's free. Imagine Dota 2. The base game is entirely free, no paywall through microtransactions at all. Except people will make and distribute mods/maps for free. Some will charge, and if their stuff is good enough, they will make some money (and deservedly so).

Epic is going to make their money by taking a cut of the mod/maps that are sold, and also they're creating a huge user base of UE4. By creating such a large user base, they increase the amount of games made with UE4, which they will take a 5% cut of.

For those with such a negative view, can you explain why?

There are going to be maps/modes in the basic game. There will be TONS of free content.

UT2k4 is my favorite FPS ever. I won't talk about the disappointment that was UT3, but I hope they strive for everything that made UT2k4 great. I'm tired of modern "realistic" military shooters. I want something fast-paced, no unlocks, where movement is a skill. And I want it to be AAA and popular, so it has a large community to play niche mods with.

I hope 5 is different enough from 3/4 to make it worth the purchase. 4 just felt like an expansion to 3. Both 3/4 are good, but they should try to innovate the IP a bit more.

I am glad to hear Grim Dawn is coming along nicely.. now the only question is should I keep playing my pre-release guy, or just shelve this game until it's fully done? Game Mechanics etc. are still in flux.

And ugh, forgot about the PoE new content. Might have to fire that up again also.

You get to keep all your characters and items on release anyway (unless an update changes skills, you may lose skillpoints). I'm enjoying trying different builds and saving up some rare items to play around with, knowing they're not going away and it's time not "wasted".

Will also be playing the new PoE leagues when they go live March 5th.

7. Re: Craig Scott Leaves CCP for Bigpoint Feb 25, 2014, 01:07 Esoteric

I think anyone who says free to play games are automatically bad isn't really knowledgeable about games today. Are there bad, cash grab free to play games that are pay to win? Yes, of course. Are there good F2P games that are good games, don't fleece customers, and don't sell power? Yes, there are, and the number is growing.

To say a game is bad JUST because it's "free to play" is just being narrow-minded and ignoring many games as evidence to the contrary.

This isn't to say whatever F2P Bigpoint makes won't be crappy, however.

Great game. I'm also waiting for the new leagues to open. As for the loot being too RNG, that's true to a degree, but there are some really easy to use trade sites that allows you to buy/sell items with minimum hassle (like http://poe.xyz.is/ ). I always avoided them before, but after using them, you can get good gear for your particular build for reasonable prices (a few chaos).

I was a little late to the party with this game, only starting it a few months ago, but it's really great. Playing on a server running like 175 mods...sooo much stuff you can do, really fun.
