And release this piece of crap so it can get horrendous reviews, everybody can get a hysterical laugh out of it, and then move on while utterly forgetting about it.

Just when you think you are FINALLY done reading DNF headlines...this crap comes out of nowhere and starts all over again.

This news sure beats the normal daily routine of seeing our beloved medium become more commercialized behind acceptable comprehension anymore. It's just ridiculous hearing about big titles skipping PC ( red dead) and you have the energy to be pissed about Duke Nukem Forever a sequel to one of the more FUN-damental games of the PC platforms time.

ANY duke game that wasn't Duke 3D shouldn't even be judged with Broussard in mind, aside from the fact his IP was being used by third party companies, ie zero hour, duke 64 etc.

So ya... You shouldn't really have cared since Duke 3D, so I guess that's good

I jizzed all over Shadow Warrior... SO MUCH FUN!

Rise of the Triad ... Unforgettable "they'll bury you in a lunch box!"

Blood is Monolith and Redneck is Xatrix,

Max Payne is remedy but their solid base is all 3Drealms

True dat.

There has to be some point where we just accept the fact that some hardcore players that aren't 5 year olds love playing games on consoles too.

I'm a complete PC whore but I will admit games like bioshock and borderlands didn't really get to me when it comes to consolitis. I mean if borderlands never came out for consoles and people thought of it's UI and layout I bet not that many people would take to complaining. Albeit its not amazing, but its definitely not 100% consolitus crap. I think there are far more games out there that are worse. Namely Deus Ex 2.

Literally Deus Ex 2 felt like they applied the n64 Goldeneye inventory system in it, with just Up and down the list of BIG TITLED 48 point font list that has 4 items on screen then you have to scroll.... pathetic.

With Duke, I really think they can get away with much more, I'm not expecting a huge inventory system etc. I'm probably one of the biggest duke fanboi's in the world esp with my Bluesnews name that just is a game function required to make sectors in Duke 3D's build engine to be effected.

Really now, I just want to play Duke 4 Ever finally. I hope it's better than Mafia 2 ( total 70/100)

id say with over 10+ years, 3Drealms is the Lead Developer, and Gearbox is just sifting through 3DR's mess of work trying to find balance with the features.

EVERYONE THE GAME LOOKS AMAZING WE KNOW

but.....

* Ballad of Gay Tony has more gameplay time than Mafia II's whole game.

* Mafia II's world doesn't even change time!!! It only changes per mission

* SIDE MISSIONS!? and No Places to really go other than the same 4 templates of stores.

* Why the hell do bodies not respond to gunfire during the fray, the ragdolls just disable.

* all these dynamic PhysX particles on the ground from the walls flying apart... Not a Single Gun Shell !? (duke nukem 3d covered that)

Did anyone else think when it shows you those montage videos of Vito and Joe, that all of what you are seeing in the video is what they took out and all the missions inbetween, and that they may just sell those later on. If that's true I will never buy a Mafia game again. That would be sinister.

Anyway, on topic, as I have said on my other sites today it's fun to kick the game but if it actually comes out and is a half-polished old-school FPS experience with Duke then YAY.

The best attitude, When and If it's out, the judgments can AND WILL be made.

Play Duke 3D. Compare and contrast features and destructibility compared to games now that are almost 11 years newer.

*Destructible walls.

*destroy almost all props, and toilets that spew water once destroyed
that has a GAME-PLAY mechanic to heal 1hp per sip ( way funnier than sitting with a red screen and then waiting for health to go back to A+ )

*Light switches, shoo-table lights that still will switch on but flicker

*Some of the best levels in any game ( esp with the urban city levels in LA)

*flying vehicles, and workable subway trains in levels players could ride.

*featured earthquakes and other natural events that would destroy the level, not random screenshake

*the weapons... ??? ( I've fired many shotguns IRL, and Duke Nukem 3D's pistol grip pump action shotgun still feels amazing )

*Destroyable buildings if the mapmaker wanted thru sectoreffectors

*strippers that are interactive ( lol )

It would seem that I'm an obvious DNF fanboi, but I assure you, I'm not.

I'm a Duke Nukem 3D fanboi.

One who has a cognitive ability to see if a game comes out in 1997 and can make you feel like your blowing some serious shit up and it feels better than Last super successfull selling Call of Duty MW2...

I just have faith. I don't sit waiting for it, but It makes me happy to know that Gearbox has the IP, esp because BOA HH showed me they know guns.

I swear shooting a real garand is just ever so slightly worse than playing BOH hells Highway, and using its garand on Germans.

I ramble but I mean it when I say it.

First person shooters have to feel visceral.. its nice todays games have huge soundtracks with hanz zimmer and have keifer sutherland to do the voice (codMW) but I shoot a lamp and it just makes sparks, and the story is too linear to explore really...

I just feel compared to most games now, Duke 3D is pretty fucking solid.

I'm a D3D fanboi who ignores gaming news telling me to get mad because they fucked up in development.
I refuse to be a gamer who just plays and mods other makers games and just insult a company for NOT releasing a game. I will only be mad when 3Drealms puts out something shitty, that very clearly has no heart put in it, instead of just getting fired up over them not getting their shit together in the new age of gaming etc.

I loved the BIA games.

To this day nothing simulates a good WW 2 firefight, and I pop a german in the head and it gibs half of his head open.

I loved Borderlands because it was a great mix of randomized weapons like diablo but a great FPS element. Again the gore and the dismemberment was awesome and had replay value beyond th games story.

Duke Nukem Forever is about killing things mainly, or blowing them up and looking good.

With the gore in both of their biggest shooters and the viceral feeling that BIH Hells Highway has with the thompson, I bet DNF will be fun at the VERY least ( really, believe it you troll haters x100)

Don't get me started on the awesomenewss of how Hells Highway grenades throw enemies into their air with limbs missing, or heads blown in half.

As stupid as this sounds but as a gun nut, I've found most games have the most weak sounding guns, or weak feeling guns that leave sticker looking decals. and there are a minority of games that just capture the feeling of a solid gun spewing lead perfectly. I think Gearbox has shot many a guns, they've got the whole "gun" thing down perfectly with FPS.

Correct me if I'm wrong but who wants to play a FPS where the guns's just feel lackluster.

I feel CODMW's guns all have the most pussy sounds I've ever heard.

It's like how I feel Quake III's railgun gives more umph and satisfaction than any of COD's cheesy toygun sounding Sniper rifles.

anyways...

If your any longtime PC gamer with who at all cares about DNF, this could be the best news you could hear.

Am I the only one who thinks who cares because it's multi-player...

I still think the level in MW2 where you just murder hundreds of people in an airport is far worse, and its single player.

Are you also going to think that all people in real life who play as the Germans ( in a ww2 game ) are neo nazi's?

It's a game, let us not forget that Mr Thompson

You're an idiot. Apparently you have never seen a real engagement where they communicate enemy soldiers at 3 o'clock and their distance in meters, All the iron sights and scopes that have all that writing on them for the compensated distance, ACTUALLY work.

Surf you can stick to Dragon Rising and Call of Duty to get your action movie fix.

I'll keep my true military sim, and by the looks of the user community I think they will continue to play too..

too bad nobody plays the new OF DR.... oh yea because it sucks like you.

Anyone who has really played both in depth and pushed it's true simulator element would know ArmA is Years ahead of many other games.... GAMEPLAY wise....

I agree with the previous poster, the voices and the sounds are pretty god awful. But just going into the editor and placing a convoy and enemy units fire on it and the game plays differently every time.. makes you see that this is the future of a true great war simulator.

OFP was all prescripted nonsense just shy of Call of Duty's super linear presentation, and yes its ballistics are much better and less quakey like COD, but OFP's editor was a joke.

Arma > OFP

If you have any sense of military knowledge and ballistics and true "realism", you would see Arma's far superior.

If you're looking for a "simulator-esque" shooter, than yea... OFP works..

If you want to really simulate a complete on foot infantry engagement with firearms, ArmA is just amazing.

They really are two different games realism wise.

In all honesty, I don't think I have ever played ArmA's singleplayer campaign, and I have put endless hours into the level editor and my own coop levels me and my friends play.

Blue, I would say $5 dlc for significant content, for a $15 dollar title is fine. But I just don't like any game maker without much credit releasing a game then saying, OH Heres some DLC you WILL WANT... Because Our Game is going to be a MOVIE and a COMIC and then you will want the sequel.

Reviews show the game is all right, esp for its price. I watched a friend try it on his xbox and I wasn't wowed, It's like playing Call of Duty MW 2 and shooting a lamp on a desk and it makes sparks and doesn't move or even fall over, maybe some metal bullet decals pasted on after.., really disheartening.

nin, amazing.... regrettably you are correct but in todays gaming climate where else can solace be found for us? I'm stuck in 2001 with my copy of Deus Ex

rofl nin ftw with facts there.

Seriously tho, Tango down MOVIE!?!?
