Loved the shit out of both of the games.

I got sad when their next game ( i think so ) was Clandestiny...

Hope this new game is swell.

"After the profit loss of The 11th Hour, the second game created by Trilobyte, the producers went on to make a more kid-friendly version of The 7th Guest"

Figured. Like Under a Killing Moon / Tex Murphy games these titles had expensive budgets and required shooting live actors etc. ( which I believe at the time was really impressive )

Well, I'm reasonably pleased. The controls are much better - not perfect, but playable. I don't get that weird mouse deceleration issue that rendered Arma2 unplayable.

My system's quite old so poor performance and graphics are to be expected. It's still a disappointment but hey. It needs a good frame rate so IMHO it's worth switch off a few bells and whistles. As much as post-processed antialiasing sucks, it's a lot better than nothing and using the real antialiasing at just 2x kills my performance.

That mouse lag issue drove me nuts till I get used to playing ArmA. Then when I go to play Arma 2 again it re-drives me nuts.

For an Alpha, which to me Bohemia releases Retail products as alpha anyways... it's sounding really good.

Thank god for that sudden DayZ sales upheavel.

I frakkin loved OG Flashpoint till Arma2 cept Arma1 with its TOO many technical flubs.

RE 3D printing quote "they wont be protected by copyright law" heh what planet is this guy living on. They 'shouldn't' be protected by copyright law, but they definitely will try!

Also not in that story but related to 3D printing. There's a guy in the states building the blue prints, to spread over the internet, so people can make AR-15 type weapons with these machines. They don't last very long but they do work, yes it will change the world, not for the better methinks.

Sad how things go unnoticed for years until it makes popular media outlets.

Buddy over at CNCgunsmithing.com has been modeling and printing his own parts for over 4 years now. AR-15 to AR-10 parts and complete Colt 1911 lowers.

Old News. Adam Lanza just brought more attention to the issue.

Technically you cant print guns that function, not true.

BUT

You print the lower receiver which doesn't need to be as strong, but according to the DOJ that's the main component of the weapon with the SN, that's why this may be important.

Again tho, you have always been able to legally build your own %80 lower receiver out of a block of aluminium and then turn it into your own gun and its perfectly legal... DOJ states if you manufacture the firearm ( FOR YOURSELF NOT FOR OTHERS) then its legal.

^--- aka Any skilled hobbyist has been able to build a gun from scratch ( in ar-15 case's mostly the lower) for years now.

FYI I live in California so the gun laws only get better with most states. (depending on your view on the 2nd )

Aren't these the same exact images they already have shown?

Anyone else laugh when they see the PS4 trailers on ads everywhere that have a screen flash then they cut to a city being rained on with shitty looking purple turds?

"Nice!!! Sell me with a techdemo that emulates a physX benchmark from 2006!"

Sad to see I'm starting to simulate liquid bodies for VFX work in near real time which requires much more fidelity and the best thing they have is a thin sheet of badly configured rigid bodies falling down. ( if even rigid bodies.. prob calc as particle objects)

What were you expecting? It's nearly as fast as two of the previous high end gpus together, but it's a single. I don't see how that can be unimpressive at all. Remember titan is still a kepler, not the upcoming maxwell.

Ditto, but only because I was expecting it to just be one chip to match the 690

I've speculated on pricing here a ton, and I'm 100% certain the publishers are investigating it.

But not just high. Don't get me wrong, Call of Duty will always come in high. $59.99? Sure. $69.99? Why not.

Other games, though? They know damn well they can't sustain that. And they know damn well that there's a sweet spot. There are some issues:
1) Games will always sell a ton their first week, even if the price is high. It's hard to walk away from that
2) Games will always sell a ton when prices drop. Does a game on Steam sell better when it's released at $4.99 or when it's released at $9.99 then cut to $4.99 for two weeks every two months?

I'm guessing that last part is the big problem. Games hit at $59.99. They then go on sale from time to time. They then get price drops. They go on sale a few more times. Then prices drop again.

If the massive failure of JC Penny proves anything, it's that most people are motivated not by everyday low prices but by getting a bargain, especially a time-sensitive bargain that's act-now or lose.

Steam probably generates 30% of its annual revenue during the Christmas sale. Maybe more. Starting with a lower priced product instead of a higher one you regularly and quickly reduce probably wouldn't work as well.

I have to say 49.99 is the sweet spot. I will admit, even though it's only a 10 dollar difference, if a game I want comes out at 50 bucks instead of 60, I won't even bat an eye when it comes to purchasing it.

I used to buy far more games during the Xbox/PS2 generation because they were 50 dollars.

correct me if I'm wrong but I remember genesis games and TurboDuo games being $60

Don't talk about slanted opinions yet.

Your statement could easily be seen as pejorative therefore its understandable for you to see how one may think you are taking a preference.

You seem to get me all wrong. The entire meaning of my diatribe was that no news about Apple appears on this site without the same ole hate.

I've gotten tired of it and was pointing it out.

The only thing that should be painfully obvious is you falling right into the same hate train.

Bluesnews has quite a few users who seemingly think liking both platforms means frothing at the mouth for steve Jobs's scrotum tissue.

Let me try out Android and iOS, let me discuss both of them without any stupid one sided bias.. Seriously, when you jump on the hate train you just seem that much more silly to me. I love Bluesnews, but it drives me nuts when angry users can't rationally dislike something properly with any respect to some industry professionals that just wanted a phone and just ended up happy with the Android or iPhone they got.

While that portal movie that Danny Trachtenberg made was totally awesome, I don't know that there's enough in Portal to make a movie.

Half Life (1 or 2), on the other hand are basically already storyboarded and would make great movies once adapted into a script. While I think JJ is a great fit (he's a geek of the first order) for something like that, his plate is pretty full for the next decade. Let's run through the list:

Joss: his talent is really with large casts, and HL is a lone wolf story. Still, a top director for this material.

Zack Snyder: excels at action, but I'd want him to cut back on the slo mo.

Michael Bay: As long as he got a good script, an over the top actiony HL could be fun. Thinking more The Rock and The Island, not Transformers.

Neil Marshall: Directed The Descent, would definitely make a tension filled HL movie.

Sam Raimi: A solid choice. Good for this material having done both action and horror.

My number one though?
Chris Nolan: This would be an amazing Half Life movie. Gritty, with the right balance between action and realism.

I'd vote for Neill Blomkamp.

The best answer here.

Even by their nature they are the same.. Amazing with an incredible modest lowbrow attitude.

Fun fact:

Neil made the entire District 9 film including post production for around the same amount Arnold got paid just to STAR in the crap Terminator 3 Film.

Any big name just feels wrong with a company like Valve.

Love my Nexus but I also love my iPhone 5, and to get my jailbreak tweaks back is a breath of fresh air.

Android has completely caught up with iOS and it's about time for Apple to make jailbreaking legit but only for developer accounts or something ( to keep the casual user in Apple's locked land safe and free from having to worry about dumb customers fucking their shit up with a bad jailbroken app )

It drives me nuts how Apple sits on a unix base but covers all of it up with fancy shit and loses the hardcore user base.

It's like how they drove off a ton of Final Cut editors with FCX. Prosumer = more sales.

Why sell Pro level equipment when you can make more selling oversized ipod touches..
