Dude is either an outside contractor or its an intern or undergrad. If its a contractor I'm sure he would love for a cable to die. I bet they make a good amount doing do. You can just look at the amount of cables and know if it's a paid job it must pay well. |

My Retina MBP went from 4 hours playing games on the Intel GMA 4000 (diablo 3, classic unreal titles, select new games) to 8 hours of battery life after the update. 
I still only get 2.5 to 3 hours playing skyrim in windows at 2k plus resolutions but that's because the Nvidia 650M is forced under windows

Get the player base first, before spending millions. (sounds impossible and for MMORPG's these days it's pretty impossible) Sometimes you can't save your best for one big show, just get something out to gain interest investments from players. MMO's could try starting smaller, make sure the gameplay and the mechanics will draw players in further, then worry about paying up the arse to fund artists.
I'd be on edge trying to launch an MMORPG in the days where you need some serious artist force to maintain the graphical standards.
Are there any modest graphically powered MMORPG's aside from Wow?

Oh man, I don't care what anyone says, Source 2 ( as long as it's not just an optimized source engine for consoles) could be incredible! I still remember watching those E3 levels and telling myself, this engine is a game changer, no more shooting a can of soda on a desk and it just stays glued to the desk with a shitty bullet decal pasted on. |

Easily the loudest most outspoken individuals in my mind are the ones that contribute to crafting and eroding smoother society or pipelines for various fields, they just happen to openly think out loud a bad idea from time to time and become easy fodder (crackwhore model, well bad idea is debatable).

Dark Messiah's first person fighting was fantastic, I really wish Skyrim was as viceral as dark messiah. Jamming a dagger into an enemies neck after sneaking up on him was brutal

I'm a 50-60 FPS fiend, I was hoping to get good FPS in those.
Diablo III in OSX won't get you near that at 2880x1800 but at 2048x1280 it's butter, I just keep everything high, except shadows on medium (blurry) and turn off AA (edges still look great)
In Win7, I can get high 30's and 40's with Diablo III at 2880x1800 same settings as OSX. Super smooth at 2048x1280 in Windows.
Crysis 2 runs high 40' at 2048x1280, not 60 or 50 at 2880x1800, most settings maxed except AA and post fx
Battlefield 3 is somewhat modern and that's great at 2048x1280 as well. High Settings on all expect Post AA and actual AA settings.
Skyrim with high res textures averages at 39-46 fps at 2048x1280, at 2880x1800 it's playable, just not as smooth as what I look for. High settings, nothing handicapped down graphics wise.
any of these titles is pure buttery FPS joy with res near 1680x1050 or 1440x900 etc.
Some will say not being able to game at 2880x1800 in all games is worthless and thats fine, but I LOVE working in Maya, Softimage, or Max and other 3D packages in windows at 2880x1800.
I love it for photography and looking at the web isn't this horrendous experience.
Windows Chrome is smooth as shit, 2880x1800, AERO etc.
in Lion (Retina comes with it) , web browsing is sluggish with Retina, then I upgraded to Mountain Lion and Safari is smoother than shit now.
Mountain Lion just gave my desktop a smooth feel.
Waiting for a chrome update to address the browsing not being smooth.
Other than that the web looks fine even when sites aren't optimized, the graphics that may look pixelated just look how they would on a 1440x900 monitor.
I'm very satisfied so far
Just simmed 678 gigs of simulation data for some VFX work I've been busy with, this laptops not bad, just overpriced a tad, but I love solid aluminum cases. My PC Rigs I use to simulated effects work with are all coolermaster Stackers, or PC's built into Mac Pro cases... and my Stacker cases were pretty overpriced too.

Everyone compares this to win 8 on the fact that it brings in some of the phone UI but I disagree, Metro forces you to use it, you don't have to use Launchpad to launch apps or work in Mountain Lion. I'd say it's just an improved version of lion.
UI response and overall smoothness is MUCH MUCH better in Mountain Lion, even on my old Macbook pro. It's been really nice on my Retina Macbook Pro.
Win Vista = Lion
Win 7 = Mountain Lion.
Ya they are off by years, but I'd say Leopard was horrible and was made really smooth with Snow Leopard.
Lion was sorta a pain and is much better with Mountain Lion.
My Review.
sidenote: Playing Diablo III or HL2 Ep 2 at 2880x1800 just rocks..
in Windows I can play BF3 at 2000+ resolutions too, settings on high except shadows which is at medium.
Love my Retina Mac Can't wait for PC Laptops to adopt a 2880 res.
Windows doesn't look like shit either, works fine with DPI settings. |

I'm sure even that games largest weapons still feel silly and with its jokey ragdoll system to go with it.
Fact is
GTA guns and explosions feel = FEAR 1
Saints Row's Guns and explosions = Fear 3
One is much better with guns and oomph in every way... Now story, random shit, and comedy are a much different thing.
Most of the cars I was shooting didn't even get bullet holes on them... very weak feeling weapons.
You can play with airsoft guns all you want, more power to you.. but some games capture guns with a sense of beauty and do them justice.
It's like watching CBS's NCIS cheap TV firefights after watching the movie HEAT. It just leaves something to be desired.

Saints Row could be wholly unrealistic and ridiculous but if the guns feel like a bad third person game then i have no desire to play much when the entire game involves guns.
I go shooting all the time and with a couple fancy home built rifles and nothing sucks more then when I want to escape reality and shoot a gun in game and it feels wonky.
