not at all, I know theres a ton of players that quickly adopted Saints Row over GTA.
usually its accompanied with "I DONT WANT TO HANG OUT WITH MY STUPID COUSIN"
or
"DRIVE, SHOOT, CUTSCENE, DRIVE, SHOOT, CUTSCENE, DRIVE, SHOOT..."
all the while doing such a good job at focusing ever so tightly on the bad while completely overlooking a plethora of wonderful technology and attention to detail that the game had at the time of release.
Really, load up GTA just walk into the street with a shotgun and blast a passing car.
To this day it still feels viceral with the glass covered in blood the head slumped against the horn and the car veering off into a ditch, while the bullet holes have parallex mapping and seperate decals for buckshot shotgun that catch the sunlight as you see the car coast to a stop.
Captures that oomph that real guns need to have in games. The entire game is based around guns.. they damn well better feel solid. No fucking disappearing decals after 5 seconds, or ragdolls that float through the air in the jesus T Position....
You're not the only one.
I do whole heartedly agree with the clunky physics on the player, it should have only engaged when a car knocks your over etc.
Shooting someone in the head in RDR with exit wounds and euporia and watching the the horse drag him away is nothing short of spectacular wanton violence done right |

If this is nearly as good as Red Dead Redemption then it's going to be awesome.
RDR on PC would be more then awesome.
I own in on 360 and PS3 cus I'm a neurotic weirdo.
ESP if it's using the engine framework thats similar to Max Payne 3, that game looked fucking great and it was optimized ( albiet with smaller levels ) to run great and had no problems that GTA 4 had
This hopefully will wash off the less then pleasant experience I had with Saints Row III. Hardcore fans of that game remind me of hardcore apple fans and give no moment a listen to why I felt it was less fun then it could've easily been. |

Remember when BF 1942 had a full on map editor?! Oh the days when you used to want to buy games with the intent to mod.
You mean like games likes Skyrim, Fallout New Vegas, Torchlight 2? *hint hint, wink wink, buy these games, support them* Oh man does torchlight include an editor!? |

God Damnit why the f^#$ do they keep making painkiller games that are the same game over and over.. and finally there's another painkiller and it's just a remake ..
I f$@^&ng LOVE painkiller, the sequels were rehashed and the engine and gameplay almost didn't change at all. |

Yes it lacks the camera, and the touchscreen just isn't as good as my Ipad's screen. Ipad rarely misses on input response, the nexus from time to time feels like a supermarket touch screen with a certain select number of apps. It's excruciatingly awful with those select apps, srsly it's exactly like a laggy supermarket touchscreen at times. Games aren't as fast as the iPad but I'm not fairly comparing the two, they are different demographics, the 7" market has different expectations one should review. |

best there is, is impossible in the market of smart phones anymore when screen size comes into play.
So many people love either way, and I always have found my Android devices to be wonderful, the iOS devices always felt way more solid when it came to visual response and FPS. Even my Nexus with Tegra 3 has FPS caps all over, and the menu is really sluggish when the card inside has no problem rendering Unreal Mobile Engine but a menu of icons with text and widgets has sluggish below 24 fps response.
I love both but its really like comparing 60 hz and 120 hz monitors.
Playing a game at 2560x1440 at 120 is night and day.
While the Apple is probably at 60fps, ( my iphone 4 and 4s New Ipad)
my Android ( droid Razr, Nexus7, Transformer ) feels like it's smooth sometimes but then often it just gets sluggish and feels unresponsive, not to say it freezes ( all phones do ) but it just has sluggish performance rendering a set of icons for apps.
Moreso a programming issue I'm sure, but side by side each iOS UI wise is much smoother imo, in terms of FPS. While I feel my Android devices have greater functionality, I'm part of the hobbyist group that demands full fps, without frame limits etc.
Love both, but I think Apples got the right idea with pretty, and smooth. They need bigger screens. Still wish the nexus had a home button , I find it get's really 2nd nature when you're used to the iOS having some semblance of a mechanical button to hold on to hope to a physical connection to the mobo that's mechanical. |

Hopefully it's not everyone I'm looking up to optimistic blues newsers to welcome it with open arms along with crestons eventual review |

Everything looks fine to me, I know what I'm getting with Gearbox, same goes for the BIA series. I always walk away having fun, atleast more fun over complaints.
I just hope with all this physX the game will actually have water that doesn't feel like it's 1996. My suspense of doubt got messed up by suddenly driving a loaded buggy with the girlfriend and I through a body of water and seeing the water just act as a static plane with a spec map shader.
So easy to just add a splash sound, or give your particle animator / FX artist 15 minutes to make a new xEmitter to spawn some sprites on contact with the water surface.
I'm picky moreso cus I'm an FX artist who would gladly donate some vfx grind time towards their project. |

huge fan of their aluminium cases. Just can't stand the genius bar, I've only had awful experiences with people that have never built a simple PC case build in their life.
Simply love their cases though. I wouldn't buy macpro cases and mod the mobo plate to accept standard ATX mobo form factor for nothing. Easy wiring can make the hot swap work as well with the storage bays.
No PC case dev have made a nice solid alum case with the same features, albiet I love my CM Stacker which is a beast... just doesn't look nearly as sexy and runs pretty loud. |

Don't get me wrong, I've ragged on the grid of icons as being a ridiculously dull way of having an interface, and would love some true innovation (WP7 is the most innovative alternative to the bland, dead grid of iOS), but c'mon, even Windows 3.1 was a grid of icons. Purely from a numbers perspective
If it aint broken ( sells well ) then don't innovate it? ( win 8?) |

DG wrote on Aug 28, 2012, 14:41: I made a start on CoH recently but just didn't get into it like I thought after all the raving.
Game seemed fun but overly scripted, which is a bit bleh in itself but it was really bad at hinting. There was a couple of times I thought I screwed up so restarted, thinking bloody hell this is hard, only to find out I was supposed to lose that bit.
There was other bits of bad scripting and communication too. Like some levels you were supposed to say rescue some troops, then come back build a base, then after a bit you get attacked. But stray slightly too far north when rescuing the troops and you trigger the assault immediately.
Also, the population caps were always bloody annoying. Tons of resources and tons of units - but only if you keep getting them killed! Easily COH is strongest in coop with friends. I love COH because you can go against a player with a huge rush force pulling a Starcraft and then if you just happens to have two or three really cleverly placed counter units, you can turn the entire game around. I also like that it's not such a rush style game, I love me some CoH-cane
