If it is made into a film, it will be nothing like the games. Thankfully, that would be a good thing, because a carbon copy of Half-Life would suck as a film.

However, this is Hollywood. They will fuck it up in plenty of other ways.

Also, while I agree on all the mute protagonist comments, realize it doesn't have to feature Gordon Freeman at all. The film could be the struggle against the Black Mesa forces by resistance fighters. There would of course be one or two main protagonists, but they would be speaking roles. If you think about it, one man--Gordon Freeman--could not possibly have taken down such a vast expansive force on his own. There were other battles raging elsewhere, and the film may just as well depict that aspect of the conflict.

It could be cool. I won't cast this one aside just yet.

Will this game have more than two colors??

Guerrilla was great, but it just started sickening me after a while. Most of the game just didn't feel right. Love the destruction though.
How far did you get in RFG? The different areas have different colors and different vehicles.

Oh, BP. When are you gunna hurry up and go out of business?

But seriously, does anybody actually click those ugly yellow links? I make it a point to ignore them because they are 100% ads and open you up to hijackings and other bullshit. Fuck that.

In fact, I just realized that for a long time, I've had AdBlockPlus set up to hide that adlink element from search results, so I don't even see them. I suggest you all do the same.

I think they learned their lesson from the first two that blasting through the terrain is not necessarily a viable gameplay mechanic. It ruins a lot of things and makes level design much, much more difficult. It can also create some very ugly and undesirable results.

As long as the destruction is plentiful, I don't mind the lack of terrain deformation that the first two games had, because from my experience, it tended to be more novelty than anything, and a lot of the terrain deformation ended up looking hokey and just kind of stupid.

Don't mind this guy. He means Star Control 2.

One part of me feels bad for Cliffski getting so bashed, another feels that he deserves this for whining in a blog.
I think he was honestly trying to get ideas to improve by, but the way he stated things makes it sound a bit like he's whining, yeah. "Oh, come on guys! This is the best game in the world! Why are you pirating it?" I don't even think that many people even pirated it, but that's based upon nothing other than assumption.

So let me get this straight: You can make animals extinct in this game?

What possible impact does this have on the gameplay other than creating a resource ceiling and reducing the "charm" of certain areas? Does it have positive/negative impacts on your standing in the game, how others see you, your bonuses, etc?

The question should be then:
What would you like to be changed or add?

Their question means they don't offer after sales services at all. A huge mistake imho.

Their question should have been their second question!
Does anybody understand what this guy just said? O.o

We're not talking about the mob shopping at Rite-Aid here. The product, to my knowledge, has no use other than one.

What purpose does LimeWire serve other than pirating music? (Oh, and contracting all manner of nasty virii. )

I didn't buy the game, and for a long time, I put off even trying it. It didn't seem that appealing to me. I think I checked out a couple gameplay videos on youtube and it just struck me as a "meh" experience.

Recently, I tried the demo (on Steam, maybe?), and I played it for maybe 10 minutes, I think. Maybe 2 minutes of that was actually playing the game... Initially, I tried to fumble around the overly convoluted setup screens and whatnot, and ultimately just ignored everything so I could hurry up and get into the game to see what the fuck it was about and figure out what was going on.

It's like, the menus have a difficulty setting and it's perpetually stuck at "hard," because it's hard just to start playing this game. Getting out of the initial menus is a pain in the ass, since there's way too much complexity here. I understand that the core of the game is building your fleet and what have you, but really? I want to play a game, not fill out some accounting ledgers. This isn't Merchandising Simulator, or Banking Managerial Duty Visualization Application, but it may as well be, judging from the gameplay (where "game" and "play" are used loosely in this game), and the name already somewhat resembles the two I made up just now.

And then once you finally do get out of the grind of the menus with too many options and too much shit on the screen at once, now you're in the "game" part of the game, and you don't even get to PLAY. You sit there and watch the computer have all the fun. All in all, it's a very anti-climactic experience.

A psychologist might make the hypothesis that there is some connection between the personality of the designer and the design of the game. Cliffy, if this game says anything about your lovemaking, please give my consolations to your significant other.

After the 10 minutes or so that I spent trying to play this thing, and searching hard for this game to hook me, I couldn't get it uninstalled quickly enough. As others have said, this is very much a niche game, but really, I think even the people who like this game could easily bore of it. I think this game needs more "play," and more of a feeling of satisfaction--reward, if you will. The pretty explosions and whatnot give something of a reward, but it feels flat since you didn't really do anything to obtain that reward. You just watched it happen.

You know what they say about all work and no play... I really think it makes GSB a dull experience. Sorry Cliffsterski.

If you read the forums, this level (Entanglement or Entangled) is so buggy... a lot of places where you can get stuck, the elevator with Alyx part being only one. I had issues at the end of the level, in the long dialog after which Dog was supposed to open the door, and nothing happened. Everybody was standing around and not doing a thing. I had to reload the save just before the cut scene about 10 or more times and then it finally worked.
THAT is exactly what happened to me the first time, but the two seem related, because when I tried reloading my save at the end of that battle right before you teleport in, then I got the bug where her AI gets disabled and you're stuck in the teleporter (the bug Valve is talking about).

Publishing Locations Of Pirate Movies Is The Same As Hosting Them.
I wasn't sure whether this article was about movies about pirates, or pirated movies. They must have meant "Pirated" in the title.

RIAA asks court to close down LimeWire.
Anyone who still uses LimeWire is a fucking moron, especially since they started planting agents and bot servers on there to log IPs. Anyway, the service was never any good to begin with.

This patch actually came out yesterday, and I just happened to be playing thru HL2 again, and the day before I had just run into this very bug. It's weird. It's like the AI stops working for some reason. I have a save file that still allows the bug to "work." Thankfully this patch fixes it so the bug doesn't happen again on a straight play-through, but I had to restart the map to continue first. :\

Anyone who pre-orders this based upon a cinematic trailer is a god damned idiot. Watch this suffer greatly from consolitis. It's got pretty big shoes to fill considering the greatness of the original game.

God this looks so shitty.

Guys, you're trying too hard.

Consolers might like this for a little while, but this is certainly not up to PC standards.

STOP MAKING LUDICROUS ARCADE GAMES! Go back to the semi-realism of early NFS games please!

Wow. As I said, tough standards. A mannish face? Sorry, don't see it. Her nose is slightly large, but not large enough that it screams "nose job needed!"

I would hate to have you judge my attractiveness. Not that I particularly care one way or the other how attractive I am. Physical attractiveness is nice, but in a full analysis pretty low on the scale in a personal evaluation. I'd rather have a girlfriend that had average looks and superior intelligence than one with superior looks and average intelligence.
I agree, but I'm not looking to make this bitch my girlfriend. And if she's going to go on some tirade about how "I'm so hot I got fired for it," then she deserves any criticism she gets, I think. Especially considering she's really not all that, and the fact that she seems conceitedly full of herself really lowers her attractiveness in my mind already.

There is a penis under that dress. That's why she was fired.

Ok, she might not win a beauty contest, but "approaching-ugly"? Those are some pretty tough standards you have.
She has a mannish face. If she cut her hair short, and didn't have drawn-on eyebrows, she could totally pass for a football player.
