I was waiting for this to drop to 10 on Steam but I've pretty much lost interest now. They've missed their opportunity, after they kept repeating the same 15 promotion. They need to drop the price LOWER, not to the same level. It strikes me as absolutely bizarre that a game as excellent as Arkham City can drop in price so quickly and yet not Dead Island.

I just have so many great games to play already that I'm perfectly happy to skip titles that I'm on the fence about. Oh, and it was incredibly disappointing to see such an awesome trailer and realise that the game is just a hack and slash.

Arkham City is good? It looks exactly the same as Arkham Asylum to me, with a larger game world. I got bored with its predecessor, so I didn't pick up the sequel. What improvements have been made?

MPAA and RIAA are corrupting the court and law systems of entire countries to enforce copyright through draconian laws.

Copyright is being used to destroy free speech, due process and god knows how many more basic human rights, all in the name of money.

If we don't stop this now as a people then there's no hope for our future.

Don't worry. They're all old people who don't understand jack shit about technology. The current generation will be the ruling generation, and we understand these things. It won't last long.

This is why I don't buy games anymore.

Or rarely anyway. I only buy games that deserve it. The last one I bought was Skyrim, and I don't really see any on the horizon that are begging to be purchased.

You're on crack. Jericho was awesome. What "far better" shows are in danger of being canceled? There is next to nothing good on TV anymore.

Everyone has their opinion but I don't really see where the quality was in Jericho. The pilot was solid but the rest of the show never lived up to it. It had an interesting concept but focused too much on the small town drama to cater to its network audience. The cast wasn't particularly good either with the wooden Skeet Ulrich as a lead. They can't really do Jericho on a TV budget either without limiting the scope, it should have always been a miniseries production. As for shows to save, how about Awake just off the top of my head? The only decent procedural I've seen in ages, too smart for the room unfortunately. Every year we get several promising shows that fail to find an audience without needing to go back to middling network dramas.

If you can't find anything good to watch on TV then you're not even trying - Breaking Bad, Mad Men, Game of Thrones, Luther, Community, Person of Interest, Sherlock (BBC), Grimm, The Big C and so on. I'm sure others can add more.

I don't really watch TV. Occasionally, I'll watch OnDemand with a friend. Some good ones I've discovered are: Shark Tank, American Restoration, Car Warriors, My Ride Rules, Tanked, Dream Rides, Workaholics.

Notice, none of these are even character shows (with the exception of Workaholics), because I think everything like that on TV is terrible now. I'd sooner watch old shows I have on my computer that I've seen a thousand times over all that overrated bullshit on TV.

Netflix Is Thinking About Reviving Jericho.

Ugh please don't, that show had an interesting concept but the execution was always very flawed. There are far better shows out there in danger of being canceled right now.

Neither did I. It was one of the related videos. Here's another one that might be a little better...

Valve does this kind of shit all the time. I believe it will turn out to be true.

I havent played Portal 2 since the first week it was out. I've loaded it a couple times, reminded of the puzzle I was stuck on and then quit out.

Was after the escape, big lake or just bottomless pit...and I can't see a single wall that will help me get anywhere.

One of these days I'll look up the solution and continue on. I too found several of the puzzles to be very vague, with only one solution...unlike Portal, I did beginning to end without having to look anything up.

I didn't have to look anything up for Portal 2 either. Sounds like a you problem. XD

I haven't felt addicted to a game as much as to Grimrock in a long, long while. Forgot how sweet the DM-type of gameplay is.

Can't wait for user content to start flooding. If they can recreate the Wizardrys, DM and the 3 EotBs then there will be enough gaming material here to last for several months.

Did you play Skyrim? Cause damn......

Not sure where you're going with this, but the 'content' for Skyrim hasn't been very ... content-y. Naked chics, armor for naked chics, over-sized naked chics, over-sized weapons, and a buttload of texture mods.

The few 'quest' mods I've tried were ok, some crash repeatedly.

Skyrim seems, to me, to be alot smaller than Oblivion was. With 2 playthroughs, one rogue/backstabber (who can barely kill a dragon) and one warrior 1h/shield, I've covered the map. Sure I may have missed a few pot holes of mobs...

Anyway I'm sure I'm not the only one who has been fairly disappointed at the Skyrim mods. I use both Nexus and Workshop to browse/add/play.
Two playthroughs? Good lord. You're obviously just blazing through without actually attempting to appreciate the game. You're not a completionist like I am. I think I'm about halfway through my FIRST playthrough, with about 200 hours sunk into it... And I'm still constantly finding new shit. Oblivion didn't keep my interest anywhere near as well as Skyrim does. I didn't even finish Oblivion.

Seriously? Fucking pointless to run that kind of a setup with just a meager 1080p. Why do people still use such low resolutions? You're not even pushing the limits of ONE of those cards at such a low res. Pointless.

and having to say "hey, hang on, guys, my PC is booting, we'll be playing in a few minutes" isn't very appealing.

That's such a dumb argument, I can't even believe you're making it. A decent SSD PC will boot to the desktop in 20-25 seconds. (I have a Sandforce 2 controller in it, and it coldboots to the desktop in 17 seconds flat.) By that time, you haven't even managed to get your PS3 logged in and moved over to the part in the menu where you can select what you want to do.

But hey, at least you can enjoy your minutes-long loading screens on the console.

Creston

Yeah, if I were to build a second PC just for playing the same games I prefer playing on consoles I'm not convinced I'd put an SSD in it. Why?

Money isn't the biggest factor to me, but it's hard to justify two extremely powerful PCs in my apartment. One is extremely powerful because I do some video from time to time but mostly am working with Excel and PowerPoint files >25MB, and the other would be extremely powerful so that I can play Prototype 2? Hardly. And what about when friends come over and want to play a Harmonix game?

Still baffles me that it baffles you guys that PCs aren't always the best option.

Uhm... No reason you can't have one machine that does all that. Seriously? You'd build one just for Excel? HAHA!! That costs about $200.

And honestly, with you being a console gamer, I'm skeptical about your definition of an "extremely powerful" PC.

I am a friend of someone who recently got sacked from RockStar North for general misconduct. Because one contract to RockStar covered everything, including secrecy, and his contractual obligaton was now removed, he was legally allowed to spill the beans on Rockstar's upcoming GTA V.

Really? I can't imagine any industry giving someone a contract that said "You can't steal any of our ideas until such a time as you no longer work for us."

Yeah. I don't buy any of that. Sounds like a bunch of wishful thinking bullshit from a whiny fan to me.

Not me, still waiting for a good sale. And when it does go on sale, it will shoot way up again in the steam charts.

It's been $60 pretty much ever since it came out and it WAS at the top of the charts week after week, forever.
