I also find it baffling when PC gamers lament and rage over games that were released on time, but had bugs and didn't look or play as good as they had hoped. They fill the forums of said game with infantile cries of "You should have delayed the game to fix the problems! Whaaaa! You should have delayed the game to make the graphics better!! Whaaaa! You should have delayed the game to fully support my completely experimental Occulus Rift that isn't even a retail product yet!! Whaaaa!"

You're mixing up your terminology here. I don't recall anyone ever saying a game should have been delayed to make it a better release. It's always been about publishers forcing the devs on a tight timeline, and RUSHING the game out sooner than it should have been. It's not people complaining that it should have been DELAYED, but rather that it should not have been RUSHED. There is a HUGE difference.

GTAIV was an abysmal port

Initially. It didn't take long for them to fix it and make it pretty damned nice.

It depends on your preference really where do you want to game, but I disagree with your cheaper on the long run comment.
It is not cheaper to game on the pc, especially not on long run.
I much prefer my PC for gaming to the console also (except some local coop games that are just better to be played on the console in front of the tv) when you add up you total spending of hardware and software combined after 7 years I don't think you come out cheaper on the PC.

The games on console are like $70, and then when you buy the next console, you lose all those old games and have to replenish your whole library again. You can't keep using the same console to play newer games like you can with a PC. You don't have to pay to play online like you do with services like XBL. You're gonna have a computer anyway. Why not making a gaming PC?

Funny, that's why I bought a PC.
I got a PS4 (over the XB1) because it was cheaper at the time and I preferred the games it came with. Being more powerful and able to handle higher resolutions in some games is just a bonus.

There's no reason to do that these days though, since AMD can't seem to compete, and nVidia is constantly forcing them to drop their prices.

Psh, bite your tongue! There are ATI/AMD fanboys here...I know because I'm one of them. AMD might not be able to compete CPU-wise, but their videocards still give Team Green a run for their money, no doubt. I'm sure a lot of Radeon users would agree. My HD7850 easily stands up to today's games, even AC: Unity, with only some minor ticks down on the ol' graphics slider...

=-Rigs-=

My GTX580 is two years older and it still outperforms...

Iirc you were able to do that a while back. Have an Nvidia card for physx, and AMD as a graphics card but driver updates disabled that function?

Yeah, I used to do this when I had my 4870x2. I had a cheap nVidia card in the machine as well to provide the PhysX. I wasn't aware DirectX ever disabled it, but nVidia drivers did after a while, and there was someone working on creating a fix for each new version that came out to re-enable the feature, so I ran those drivers for a year or so.

There's no reason to do that these days though, since AMD can't seem to compete, and nVidia is constantly forcing them to drop their prices.

I'm mostly fine with them delaying it. In fact I had no problem at all with the first delay. However, the second delay kinda worries me and if they delay it a third time I'm going to be royally pissed. This game better be 100% bug free when they finally release it.

This is already like the fourth or fifth delay.

So? whats your point? Are you complaining because they are taking the time to fix and polish the game rather then just dumping it out there and then tossing patch after patch at it? Id rather all developers take their time on releasing a game making sure its as good as can be on release day.

This is a good thing!!

Where did you get that I was complaining? Did you even read the quoted text in my post?

I read every word of it, and when you state this is the forth and fifth delay, I read that as complaining and whining. Maybe state your wording a little less objective.

Maybe don't inject your own confrontational bias into everything you read. He said "with the first delay..." and then "if they delay it a third time..." I was seeking either clarification on his comment or to inform him that it's been delayed more times than he thinks it has.

I can't believe I have to explain it. It's very simple. It was a statement, not a complaint. Had I said "HOLY SHIT I KNOW IT SUCKS THAT IT HAS BEEN DELAYED SO MANY TIMES ALREADY," then I could see how you might take that as you did. I dunno. Maybe my reading comprehension is just that far above yours...

I think with all the delay the expectations of the PC version is going to be so high no matter what the game will disappoint.
I hope I am wrong but keep on delaying this game doesn't give me the warm and fuzzy.
This game was released on the PS4 and Xbone a while back, aren't those consoles just like a PC when it comes to porting?

Well, that's only true in that both platforms are x86. But on consoles, you have one set of hardware to develop for and support. With PC, it's a whole new bag of challenges. Drivers and built-in Windows functionality should be able to handle most of it though, but you still have to test in a number of configuration scenarios and fix issues as they present themselves.

I love this click-bait bullshit. Nothing is transmitted until you say "hi TV" to enable the voice activation functionality. This sensationalism is getting way the fuck out of control.

I'm far less worried about accidentally giving my TV all my private details after accidentally saying "hi TV" than I am of Apple or Google selling my private data since they are experts at data mining. Why don't we talk about that kind of "invasion" which happens every day with our willing support...?

The GTX 680 still does his job. Trying to be patient.
I am on a GTX 760, other than Total War games and Crysis I don't have any issues with other games yet.
I am very curious how GTA5 would run with my card though

Their "recommended" GPU is like a GTX660 or something. My 580 is faster than that, so I'm not worried about it being quite playable. I probably won't be able to max it, but I'm not upgrading until Pascal, or maybe 980ti.
