Awesome! I cannot justify the purchase of a Ferrari equivalent, but more power to those who can!

I just hope it's not a return to the BAD old days of Origin Chris R. "We create worlds the computer you buy in 3 years will be able to play".

And I'm not jealous of him at all with that work rig... those who make games seldom have time to enjoy other peoples. (Unless this new business model is actually crunch free and family friendly)

Have not kickstarted but you'll get my 60 euro on delivery Chris, thanks for Strike Commander way back when BTW.
Strike Commander was AWESOME. Man now I have battle music from that game in my head. :\ I spent way too many hours playing that game and schmoozing up to Gwen. XD I still have the original boxed game. Remember when games came with thick, printed manuals full of all kinds of fun stuff? Man, those were the days.

HOWEVER, if you always buy top of the line stuff regardless of cost (if you're able of course, and if you're not GET A REAL JOB, HIPPIE! ;), then you don't have to worry about not being able to run anything, even back then. You've got a system with a lot more longevity and the initial cost of entry pays for itself over and over when you have a 5 year old system that still plays all of the brand new games maxed out at 2304x1440 or whatever, while all your friends are still throwing away money on hardware upgrades throughout the years just to catch up with you and what you bought in at from the beginning.

Yeah but creating a game that only super high end systems can handle won't help to sell it. Did these devs forget about the 'Crysis' debacle?

Crysis was a glorified tech demo. It wasn't much of a game. That's why it didn't sell.

But it did help drive the industry to a higher technical level. For that, we can be thankful.

Crysis a tech demo? It sure had a lot of tech, but it was a deeper game than 99% of all the games! Complexd AI, destructible buildings and trees that affect gameplay, huge open world levels, tons of customization, missions that could be solved "how you liked". The game wasn't all that fun, but it was a genuine attempt at making a deep game, not a tech demo.

All of those things you just described are exactly what adds up to a tech demo, not a game. They wanted to show what they could do in order to sell their new engine. Crysis 2 was a better attempt at a "game."

Interstate'76 was not a racing game.

There was racing involved.
Maybe but most of it was still automotive combat. I still have the original boxed game.

The last good NFS games were High Stakes and Porsche Unleashed. Those games were fucking AMAZING. I can't believe it's been almost fifteen years and they still haven't put out a decent sequel to them.

EA: NOBODY WANTS AN ARCADE RACER, ESPECIALLY PC GAMERS. And 30pfs?? Fuck that shit! My PC will easily do 130fps with this shitty game. Go the fuck out of business already. >:\

I hadn't really considered the bandwidth cap gripe before now. Interesting points.

I don't have to worry about it currently, as I'm on Comcast 50gbps (which usually gives me more like 60-65), and no caps. None advertised anyway. I wouldn't be surprised if they do cap speeds on the excessive bandwidth consumers, but I'm pretty happy with my service speeds and uptime.

If I were in a third-world nation, I might feel differently, but I'm not so I don't. The second that changes, I'll move.

A Berliner would say: Ick bin een Berliner. Right, Sho? ;)

Right on.
That seems like Swedish or something, not German. And anyway, it should be "Ich bin Berliner!" if you're talking about being a person of Berlin. Otherwise you're saying something completely different.

And none of this has to do with Shadowrun Returns. Therefore, um... What the hell is wrong with Steam? I've experienced zero issues with it. O.o

I quite like Steam. I actually quite like Origin, it does the main things well (i.e. it's fast and it generally stays out of sight). ForgedReality, are you joking? You followed a post that mentions contentless criticism of Steam with contentless criticism of Origin so I'm not sure.

I don't like how Origin's server browser, and 99% of its UI is done in the browser. Why do I have Origin installed if it's just going to (inefficiently) use my browser? It doesn't always work the way it should and it can be quite cumbersome to utilize. It would be better if it offered some sort of in-game overlay at least, like Steam's shift+tab. I hate using Origin because it's just a hassle, but it's the only way to play BF3 (the only Origin game I own).
