Reading Bluesnews saved me money again! I'll just get Toxikk this weekend and wait for FOV mods to be supported. Can't stand 3rd person. Yes, i'm old and missing out etc..

In reality you're better off shooting weapons in 3rd person as it's easier to get headshots and track multiple targets faster - it shouldn't be this way but the first person feels like an add-on after the fact novelty. Sniping is first person regardless so it's mostly when you're shooting with an pistol, assault rifle, shotgun that you do the over the shoulder 3rd person shooting. Driving is better 3rd person all the way as is flying helicopters and planes, at least for me - some do like driving in first person.

I just use first person when walking around in the world for the immersion.

i disagree but i will admit it is definitely not the same as a standard FPS game, mainly because you are having to wait for your guy to perform animations which have physical, collision based aspects - and those dont exist in standard fps games because you are a floating head with a gun arm overlay

so really its only when you have to navigate the environment, jump over things, etc. when it becomes strange, but honestly i think its pretty cool because it feels like you are actually a person doing these things rather than just a floating head

I much prefer first person for shooting, EXCEPT when in a car, because then your aim angles are extremely limited. Third person in that case works better.

First person is awesome because holding the right mouse button holds the weapon up closer, and while doing that, if you scrollwheel up, it aims down the ironsights, which is fucking awesome, and far easier to get headshots imo. Mousewheel down again to put it back at the hip while still holding right mouse. It remembers the setting (hip or ironsights) you last left it at.

I thought the range of the default FOV slider was reasonable. Though I personally tend to prefer lower FOVs than many other people and have it set toward the low end, at it's highest setting there was very noticeable distortion indicating it was fairly high. I do use a 21:9 monitor, though, which probably made it more obvious.

Does anybody know what the actual numbers are?

Are you talking about the fisheye effect from first person mode? I thought that was a stylistic thing. I haven't really played with the FOV much.

GTA5 has pretty much sold me on buying a new computer. Mine runs it ok, but it's like 5-6 years old, and I know it can look better...

What CPU are you running?

An i7 960

Hmmm. I'm running an i7 2600K, 16GB Ram, and a 780ti, and I am almost running the game full-tilt-boogie 45-60fps. Depending on what video card you're running, that is probably the only upgrade you'll need IMHO. Your CPU has better memory bandwidth, but requires a bit more power, but overall performance is 'just about the same'. If you can swing it, the 980ti is probably right around the corner.

Yes. Latest rumor is as early as the middle of next month. :O That would make sense if they're afraid of the 390x stealing some of their customers. They'd want to jump out ahead of it.

Running it on my new MSI GTX 980 everything maxed out (except MSAA, have that on 4x just to be safe.. I don't want it to ever even remotely drop under 60 fps you see).

The game runs GREAT! Also: NO MORE AIMING PROBLEMS! Somehow my GTX 680 caused it or somehow lower fps has some unusual impact on the mouse.

Someone (Verno?) asked how long the loading is when swapping between characters. GOOD NEWS! It's as good as INSTANT!

Rockstar did a mighty fine job!!!!!!!!

I played this fucking thing for something like 20 hours straight. I took a 2 hour nap in the middle somewhere. Oh my god this game is glorious.

12k makes sense here. And yeah, it's probably the 3 4k monitors that is the main target.

Maybe, but the cost of the 4K monitors and the PC with the 3 Nvidia Titans or 980s to run them is $5000-$10000. That's a pretty tiny sliver of PC gamers.

That 40" Philips 4k monitor (which has generally great reviews) is under $900, so that helps...

I played GTA5 from around 5pm on launch day (Monday) to around 4am (holy shit! Time warp!), where I took about a two hour nap, and then got up and ate and went back to it until about 6pm. Holy shit. I took a personal day off of work just so I could do that. This game is fucking awesome. Still haven't tried the multiplayer. I don't plan to until I complete the story.

I have experienced no issues thus far, aside from an odd resolution change when I alt-tabbed. I came back and it had changed back to the resolution I had set before. I think this was because I didn't exit the game using that resolution, so it fell back as safety precaution of some sort. I'm pretty sure it stuck where I want it once I quit though.

I'm using a 5 year old videocard (3gb GTX580), but the game still runs pretty damned good once I turn some of the settings down. Initially, I had everything completely maxed out at 2304x1440, and it looked absolutely amazing. Obviously, I had to turn it down though, because it was pretty unplayable. Once I did, I've got it running super smooth and still looking better than consoles. I can't wait for my 980ti.

There are almost 1000 people chatting here at this very moment, which has been slowly ramping up in the days and weeks prior as the hype slowly builds.

They also have a Social Club crew that currently has a LOT more people in it than the Blue's News crew.

I wish I bought GTA V on Steam

I finally got all the preload files on my computer, no thanks to Rockstar's truly pathetic downloader. I had to torrent 30% of the files and place them in the GTA V folder for it to finish up.
Before that, it had finished downloading in full, then reverted back 20 gb and started from there

Just unbelievably amateur setup software from Rockstar

Are you kidding? It downloaded super fast for me. I got it in just over two hours. It did slow down to like 300kbps at one point, but it was a server issue I think. Once I restarted the downloader, it gave me a better connection and sped right up to ~10mbytes/s again.

Only an ignorant little kid who hasn't played any of the Witcher games could say it's anything like Skyrim. The two are so completely different. The only similarities are it's a fantasy third person RPG (although The Witcher is just barely RPG territory). The comparison stops there.

... No. It only takes 3 hours to complete the main story quest in Skyrim. This means that TW3 should have considerably less "fluff" than Skyrim.

Both Blue and ForgedReality seem to misunderstand what this 25 hours for a speedrun thing implies.

Wat? You can complete the main story of Skyrim in ~4 hours without using any bugs/cheats/etc. How is that smaller than skyrim, when they're saying that this is the main story of witcher 3 minus dialog.

No you both all three are misinterpreting. I don't give a shit about speedruns. I'm talking about the 200 hours if you do everything. I'm on my first playthrough of Skyrim with like 400 hours. I haven't even picked sides yet.

a full playthrough of the RPG sequel will take 200+ hours if you chose to accept all the game's side-quests and extra activities
