Coupon code: EMCYTZT852, expires on the 22nd. Nicely done, sir. I used this to get $12 off which actually made it $47.99. Kudos to you. |

everyone wrote on Oct 23, 2011, 10:10: One of my favourite Fallout 3 bugs is the NPCs falling through the floor. I teleported myself to the Megaton Sheriff at one point, as he had been missing for a quite some time, and there he was under the ground with about 5 other similarly afflicted NPCs. I had to use the console to teleport them out one by one. Maybe it was a protest against my poorly maintained computer. I see what you did there. |

PHJF wrote on Oct 22, 2011, 15:40: Replaying Oblivion after four years, modded heavily... and the game does not stand up well at all, visually or otherwise. Music is still great but that's about it. Deadly Reflex 6 installed, but it's a little more than a patch on a festering wound I agree but more involving the gameplay mechanics than the graphics. Between Morrowind, Oblivion, Fallout 3, and New Vegas, we've all just sort of tacitly agreed that the way to do NPC dialogue is to pause the entire world, zoom in on the NPC speaking, and endure a dialogue tree. I think the main element of Skyrim that'll instantly spoil all of us is the new dialogue system. We may still have a tree to deal with but releasing the need to lock in & zoom should make things interesting.
I wonder what'll happen if you just walk away in the middle of an NPC's sentence? Probably similar to real life: they'd think you were the captain of the douche canoe.

While I don't think Bethesda would ever postpone an id game...(select to see parenthetical) (and by the way, aren't Bethesda and id peers of one another, both being under the Zenimax umbrella? How can one entity dictate terms to a peer? Something weird going on there) ...you can bet your booties that there was SOME level of quality control change-up because of Rage. That's right: booties! |

No one here has suggested Ccleaner so I'll just go ahead and do it meeself.
I've never received such a message from Chrome (aside from when it crashes which is very seldom indeed) because I keep my PC's bowels clean with Ccleaner from Piriform.

For what it's worth, here's a quote from an excellent "Wiredcontroller" article:
http://wiredcontroller.com/exclusive/streamlining-skyrims-stats
But what about character customization? Surely with fewer attributes it will be hard to create a unique character? And there are no classes anymore, so what about that? The notion that with fewer attributes means fewer options is complete nonsense, thanks to the addition of numerous perks that are rewarded as you level up various skills. The combination of perks and abilities you gather in your quest will make a more unique character than the old system could have ever produced.
Additionally, the class system is a tired and outdated mechanic in single player RPGs. It does serve its purpose in multiplayer and party based RPGs, but all it does is restrict growth in solo RPGs. The purpose of an RPG is to see your character grow and develop not just get better at one task. It will also give players more freedom and let them have more fun. For instance, my friend in Oblivion made an Orc Warrior, like myself, but decided he wanted to be a mage instead. So he just bought a bunch of spells and became a mage, but thanks to the restrictive class system and the choices he made at the beginning of the game (when he had no idea how he wanted to really play the game) his character was a rather bad mage. The system, in short, cut off organic growth, while character growth is supposed to be a staple of RPGs. When a mechanic impedes the overall goal of a game, it should be removed or fixed, there is no question about that, so why is there such a big fuss about the removal of the class system? I'm kind of ambivalent about these proposed changes but I'm open-minded enough to give them a go. Besides, Bethesda has earned my trust over the years. |

I'm with the rest of you. I purchased all the Stalker games and you won't find a bigger fan of open-world games...but I draw the line at persistent online connections for a single-player experience.
Additionally, I've already been to the official GSC forums where they have a poll set up about this: a whopping 79% voted "no purchase" as a result of this news.
And believe me, the people who frequent that board are real Stalker fans. They'd have to be to put up with that forum's terrible 1999 code and design. |

Creston wrote on Sep 28, 2011, 11:55: ... 2) "Front page" idea. I guess that's nice if you happen to be an ADD addled dipshit who only cares about the most up to date news blips from this exact minute, but I like being able to scroll through a page and see the entire days' news without having to click to five different pages.
3) No summaries. They tend to just put the first 10 words of an article up and then have a "CLICK FOR MORE" style link. I hate that. I really like the way you take the meat of an article and post it up for everyone to disseminate. It allows for a much easier decision on whether it's something worth reading.
Further thinking about it, I'd actually like to see you give more attention to reviews and previews. They're in a bulleted form now, but I wouldn't mind seeing a paragraph style entry for a review of a particular title (where you can link all the reviews done by multiple sites.) I realize that might get bulky at some point, so you could just do it for bigger titles, or you could have a one paragraph entry for "indie reviews" and one for "AAA reviews" or something like that, and link to all of them while giving the slightly expanded treatment to one of your choice. This. Very much, all this (emphasis mine). |

Goodness, this article could be vastly simplified by cutting it down to three words:
