The Titan cancellation didn't cost Blizzard anything. The development is what cost Blizzard $50m+.

Bunch of whiners. I played the game with no problem at all last night. Launch was perfectly fine. Better than WoW's launch, I can tell you that. Then again I wasn't dumb enough to drop $150 on it.

Based on my initial few hours of play last night, I can also tell you this game _SO FAR_ has more potential than WoW. Game doesn't treat you like you're retarded or child-like and doesn't assume you need boosts to your self esteem. Obviously the proof is in the pudding though so we'll see.

I tried Destiny on PS3 during one of the beta weekends, but honestly can't see what all the hype is about.
Doesn't seem like there's anything new or innovative in it, the story seemed alright but not super immersive either.

So what's the draw?

I guess the character/item persistence that helped make CoD so popular... but now there's PvE content along with it?

I also tried the beta and found it quite boring, though. Wander around nearly empty levels and gun down simple enemies? Uh ok.

Tough crowd here, I thought it sounded interesting and will definitely check out the alpha/beta. They're trying something new for a change so I'm a bit dismayed to see people crapping all over them for it when thats what they've been demanding forever.

Nope. Gimme Dragon Age 1-2 and a conversation wheel or gtfo, Bioware. Get this innovation shit out of my lesbians and gore.

All seriousness, the game sounds like fun. No skepticism here at all, this is a kind of game I'm surprised took this long for someone to do. Anyone that genuinely doesn't see a game like this appealing to some folks probably also doesn't understand why a game like Dark Souls is such a hit.

Um, the difference is not in the idea but in the execution. BioWare will turn this into a casual crapfest, the exact opposite of a well-designed niche title that transcends to a broader audience.

The Shadowlord is not a disembodied character affecting the world from outside and “above” the game, so to speak. They are in the mix with the Hero player characters for the entire dungeon crawl sharing the same 3rd person over the shoulder camera and control scheme.

This sounds like trash.

Also, I remember when they promised that Dragon Age would harken back to their classic games and that turned into a casual-fest with inspiration from MMORPGs from all places.

League of Legends Season 3 Worlds had 32 million viewers. DotA2 will be lucky to have a quarter that many. I guess it's all in who you know.

Actually it has more to do with the size of the International prize pool. But let's not let that stop us from trying to incite a LoL vs Dota2 fanboy war.

When designers start saying things like "without sacrificing any of the fun" you know it's going to be a shallow experience.

Had potential but the execution was mediocre. Another game where the player is a god and the enemies are a bunch of dopes. It reached the climax during... the climax, actually, where the head badguy _knows you're coming_ and decides to deal with it by relaxing in his base with several entrances wide open, and about 10 dope guards meandering the dark hallways.

With all the game companies bending over backwards trying to copy Hollywood, you'd think they'd learn one of the fundamentals first: a story is only as good as the villain.

Wut. According to that schedule there's like 95% of BS content and 5% of actual gameplay. Oh well.

Without any media and a lot more information I'm not going to get excited yet. This is awesome news, but how many times have we been let down before. Let's just see what the reality is first, mmmkay.
The guy got some of the greatest games of all times to his pedigree. Let's give him the benefit of the doubt.

You do realize this guy was an exec at Zynga right? And you do realize that at his time at Zynga he had a lot to say in support for the world of mobile gaming?

Sounds like someone I wouldn't trust with the revival of a respected franchise from before the days of corporate plundering.

"...not blinded and limited by a standard good/evil system."

As if people don't already have a blurred sense of responsibility for thier actions, someone is now making a game with the express point of teaching that there should be no consequences for acts of violence.

Why don't we just start making games where the object is to rape women, or abduct and molest children? No consequences, right? No good or evil, right? No difference whatsoever... right?

Right.

And people think climate change is a problem?

I'd rather they ported the first one to PC. These last two have been dumbed down and polished into oblivion.

This game and Wolfenstein are on my 'buy when there's nothing else to play' list. Besides, I'm still far to invested in Dark Souls 2 atm, not to mention Transistor; both of which are freaking awesome.

You know, for months I've been hearing people hype DS2 and when it came out there was nothing else to get. So I got it. Honestly, you have to tell me, what am I missing? I've tried to play this game a dozen times. I just. Don't. Get. It. What's all the fuss about? Yes, it was super hard, I died a million times. Half of which just left me frustrated cause I KNEW I jumped before the edge of that cliff and dodge that arrow. But then I start at a checkpoint, run forward, find my blood stain and continue. Being super hard isn't a selling point in itself. I must be missing something cause I just don't see what makes this any better than all the other 3rd person action adventures on the market. I was more hooked on teenager angsty DMC than I was on DS2.

"Super hard" is how the game is (stupidly) sold to the mass market. If you're semi-competent at video games and have more patience than a child then the Dark Souls games are fairly straightforward, even downright easy in many parts to someone who is prepared.

There's a lot of other things going on that should draw you into the game. If they didn't then it's just not your bag.
