News Comments > Steamships Ahoy - E.Y.E: Divine Cybermancy
12. Re: Steamships Ahoy - E.Y.E: Divine Cybermancy Jul 30, 2011, 01:03 Bumpy

Just played this for about 2 hours now and finished the first mission.

Totally PC bred game; so nice to not have console crap in my PC game for once.

WOW!!! Seriously one of the most captivating games I've played since Stalker1.

I would describe this game a mix of Stalker+Deus Ex+Hellgate London. Lots of menus, inventory, leveling, stats, powers, hacking, loadouts, etc.

Save system is interesting. Seems you get 10 lives in a mission, die and you reincarnate from some 'coma' automatically like the Bioshock Vita Chamber. Go past 10 lives and you restart the mission from the beginning. This is on Normal btw, which I'm finding very easy.

Edit: Save system actually pretty much blows and puts a real damper on this game. Seems there is no checkpoint or save ability at all. Only save is between missions and its automatic with zero ability to control the save.

Guy at Rage3D played it already and said this quick comment...
"I am enjoying the game so far. This is definitely not some mainstream console title. The leveling system is a bit complicated which isn't really a bad thing. There seems to be quite a few ways to level your character and there are different ways to accomplish your goals. Now this game does lack the polish of a AAA title. I'll be honest I don't really care for the storyline so far, the tutorial is pretty boring, and some of the some things could stand to be explained a bit better. This is also not a sandbox title. The missions remind me more of a Dues Ex style. The gunplay is obviously fine since it is using Source.

I'll get my money worth out of this game."

Sounds interesting and good enough for me. This appears to be a nice true PC title. I'm buying.

This news is another example of why I don't buy PC games on release any more.

Nice to hear they are modding their own game. And yeah, hope they remove the regen health too.

Seems ever since he went console Carmack got enthused again. Hope id hasn't forgotten their roots. PC version of RAGE better be properly PC.

It looks like a promising title, but I am still on the fence here, as I don't like how it continuously alternates between 'first person' perspective and 'third person' perspective. IMO, it just breaks the continuity of the 'first person' perspective way too much.

Assuming this title takes off, which it sounds like it will, I'm betting there will be a mod or hack for this.

Think I need to run through and finish Alpha Protocol first or DE3 will spoil me.

Yup and From Dust will have the same DRM.

Buy it then pirate it for convenience, that's what UBI seems to want to encourage.

This game needs to come out before Deus Ex 3 or it will get totally forgotten about in a matter of seconds.

35. Re: On Risen 2 DRM Jul 26, 2011, 18:16 Bumpy

Don't like this news, not a fan of Steam at all. Much prefer GamersGate, activate the game once and simply play.

Risen 1 was nice but with the Steam news as a solid negative, Risen 2 will have to be VERY good for me to buy it.

From the FAQ:

"-Why no mouse control?
-This is a low paced adventure game without action. You will be OK with the keyboard control.
(Note: you can try a gamepad, just map the keys to the gamepad buttons... I think this is possible.)"

Consolized.

This game would be lots better if it had mouse look instead of keyboard look. I was rather taken back by this fact actually.

So delay=whiny people=no buy.

A bit too instant gratification oriented aren't we?

Aside, how many years people wait for DNF again?

8. Re: Prototype 2 in April 2012 Jul 20, 2011, 22:48 Bumpy

Wow, I thought this was due at Xmas time. Drat.

I too feel Prototype was the superior and fun of the 2. Many more ways to do things due to the vast array of abilities and weapons. More side activities available too.

Infamous, however, had better story telling and was more realistic or serious in nature.

Reviews for this game are not good. Guess the PC delay doesn't matter much after all cause now its a no buy.

They had such a good thing going with the first one, second one was not as good IMO.

Nice to see some fixes and additions.

Even better are the mods trying to make the game a better experience. Really like the Panel and Hud mods already, makes it less consolitus like.

Several more months and I'll buy this game.

Glad to hear its a Polish dev, that alone will keep me interested more than the trailer.

Didn't know anyone still went to Shacknews after their terrible redesign. It's funny how the forum\comments system has remained as is with the old look, simply grafted into the new design.

Yup, use to visit the Shack all the time. Their redesign and that they've gone mostly console stopped me pretty quickly.

Never looked at the first one cause you had to register to play the stupid demo. Tropico or Anno series is plenty good.
