The purpose of tech demos seem totally lost on some here. It's not supposed to show you what you can run on your desktop hardware or what games might look like in x years, it's to show off the DX12 API and what they can do with it.

It literally doesn't matter how much hardware you throw at certain graphical problems if the API can't handle it. That is what this is showing off, how much insane fidelity DX12 can handle without crapping it's pants EVEN on current hardware. By the time this level of fidelity trickles down to gaming, those 4 titan x cards will be equivalent to a mid-range GPU.

I agree with Slick, the level of detail this video shows is incredible. I don't think some people even understand what they are seeing in this video.

The problem I see with these levels of fidelity is that they are only going to continue to ramp up development costs. Any bets that DX12 games start a new $70 price point? I was kind of shocked that the new consoles didn't attempt that already.

Any bets that DX12 games start a new $70 price point?

Whats the problem with that??.....people spend 1000$ > for pixels called ships , and that turns the developers on all you backers had it comming Clown 's

So what you are saying is that they were aiming for 100 million all along and that there is no way this game would have been made had it just been funded say....through the kickstarter??

Yep, like Oculus as well. It had no chance to actually deliver with just the Kickstarter money, even though they didn't tell you that.

and when they reach 100 mil they were aming for 125 mil...jezz and all the sheeps follow them

Holy crap the internet is exploding over this! They're deleting and disabling comments already and banning people left and right.

I'm wondering who is responsible for this dumb ass idea, Steam, Bethesda or both. I'm betting a deal was made with a lot of the popular mod makers to remove or stop updating their mods on The Nexus. I don't think it's a coincidence considering how many of the pay for mods on Steam are no longer on The Nexus or don't have the latest version.

Someone brought up an interesting point in the forums. A lot of these pay only mods require the use of other mods, like SKSE, MCM, SkyUI, etc. SKSE and SkyUI don't have anything in their permissions that prohibits selling a mod that uses their mods, but then selling mods wasn't possible when they put those out.

Edit: This guy predicted this would happen three years ago.

They are testing the marked....to see how far they can go and what they have seen so far is people loooooove to pay ekstra Money for games remember back when developers wanted to raise the Price for games all hell broke Loose NOW people don't have problems paying 1000$ > idiots

You guys are some of the most jaded individuals. Before the KS campaign ended you were saying things like "they are not going to make it" and "they're 200k away from 600k. No way are they going to get that in 24 hours." After the campaign you now say "this smells like a scam."

I think this is one of the reasons why I no longer post as I used to. Most of you, not all, are toxic. I really don't want your jaded views to rub off on me.

Okay I've said all I need to say. I'll let you get back to your jaded discussion...

Don't get me wrong, I want these guys to succeed. And I hear you about our general pessimism on this site, but this goes beyond that. These guys are trending toward a pretty substantial failure, only going to make about 75% of their pretty modest goal, when suddenly over the last couple of days a massive influx of $5K and $10K donors pushes them over the top. You don't think there's anything strange or suspicious there? And I say that as someone that has never questioned the legitimacy of Star Citizen.

well they seen how brainless people feeds the "game" SC and think well lets rock and scam like CR are doing.... Clown

Even though we reached 100 comments in this thread, I'm still claiming Peak Star Citizen. We're in the "bumpy plateau phase" of it, so expect to see some threads above 100, and some below. Eventually interest in SC will peter out altogether.
It still managed 100 posts on a non-story.

Lets give a hand to the feeders Smartass .....i guess

We've had someone here say they have given like $1,200 I believe -- can't remember who.

I've got to be over 1200 by now, I'm definitely over $1,000. (1122.93! dammit, I'm no quite there!) To my credit though I've stopped buying ships. What they are selling for today seems crazy. It feels like they really ramped up prices in 2014 on ships and anything that gets released now just has a big fat extra chunk on the price because that can.

That's fine with me, I am happier with the ships I bought at the price I paid.

Most of my funds have gone towards the monthly sub, $10 a month, and lots of physical items. Shirts, models, mouse pads, dog tags, I love all the little knick knacks!

I've got to be over 1200 by now, I'm definitely over $1,000

1000 $ ....sick just sick,,,no matter what excuse you use it's plain sick if you earn so much that you use it on pixels maybe you should go Down in hours and give another person a chance to earn Money to his famely...1000$ ...sick Clown

I backed 3 ships more for lifetime insurance than the ship(s) itself. Why? Because I don't want to feel obligated to grind for cash just to insure my ship (s) if I want to pirate etc. I know Ill have to pay for weapons and systems again but still better than grinding out a monthly quota to pay for insurance. Back when I was in my 20s I didn't mind nerding out for 48 hour marathons of gaming, not anymore though.

Holy moly , just listen to what you say do you even want to play this so called game , i guess you are one of those WHO pay others to play for you also because you don't have the time and don't want to feel the pain when your 1000$ pixel gets raped ( like your wallet)......pathetic

I can't wait to see what a Retaliator or Constellation will do against the Super Hornets. The high shield strength combined with good player-crewed gun turrets should be a rather potent combo.
Yeah, the Retaliator looks like a pretty awesome ship. I'm tempted to do a cross-chassis upgrade to the Retaliator or the Redeemer from my Super Hornet. Both my brothers own the game, so it would be great to all play on the same ship.

I installed SC yesterday to take advantage of the free week. Putting all the hype and ridiculous promises aside, I like what I see. It is beautiful and it felt pretty good. It does feel more like a tech demo, but I expected that considering the early stage of development.

This game has become the Waterworld of crowd sourced games. People are offended by the excess of money and are extremely skeptical that the promises will be met. The only thing I worry about is the pay to win aspect. In elite it took me forever to get my fully decked out ASP and I'm still far from getting an Imperial Clipper. But the path I took to get to where I am is the game. I don't know what the SC game will be like when people start out with ships that should take a year to acquire.

With all that said, SC looks good and I will definitely be buying in with the crappiest ship possible. The game may ultimately turn into a misguided mess, but it doesn't look like it's going that way right now.

Careful with all this logical and cautious optimism. The haters here who have decided that nothing CIG says or shows off is going to change their made-up minds will rip you to shreds so they feel better about their opinions.
