Bluesnews comments are a toxic cesspool of hate for Star Citizen.

There's one reason right there why this site can be great at times. Wonder if there could be a "toxic cesspool of hate for Star Citizen" banner at the top of the page next to the Blue's logo?
Well we are a toxic cesspool in all games not just Star Citizen
But I am a Star Citizen fan and I pledge money to help make CR dream true !!!
Remember you are donating money to help make this game. This game will cost around 60$ when is out and they will keep adding stuff later. Nobody forced anyone to give 2000-10000$ but people did anyway... Because they want something good to be made...

But I am a Star Citizen fan and I pledge money to help make CR dream true !!!

i feel sorry for you overpaying for that pos

Derek has a less then stellar history in the older PC gaming community. I see why they let him have a voice, with his history with his own overreaching(at the time) space game. I will not listen to him however, his past is one he cannot run from, in my eyes.
Just look at his behaviour last week, when he turned up again on BluesNews after several years.

The discussion started very good, people were polite and i thought: "Ok, maybe he really has learned something. Lets hear him out." But then, very fast, there were his typical unprovoked attacks on people who had the impertinence of disagreeing with His Highness.

Ok, maybe he really has learned something. Lets hear him out

Learned from WHO ? what is it ya wanna have him to say , the same as you or what .

Let me tell you what will happen in the next couple of weeks:

1. More and more people/backers will grow pissed and impatient;

2. They can no longer be calmed down by helmet animations and other over-ambitious, empty promises;

3. The media will play along with the masses, and starts questioning this undelivering 80+ milion dollar project;

4. Robert will buckle, and release a piece of garbage of a game within a few months;

5. Lawsuits will follow, backers will cry, rationalists will eat popcorn, and this shit will go down as one of the biggest fucking game scandals of the century.

Yep , tho he will then say : i DID release the game , and nada can do him anything , just stop with this donations shit.

I'm optimistic still about SC btw, just very cautious. Still only planning on $50 and that's it if I like what I see later on.

I too have heard mixed messages regarding private servers, I can't find much about it anymore. There's Chris talking about here from April 2015. Even WoW has private servers which daring players mod and run, but Blizzard can't do anything about that. Basically what Chris seems to be saying is that if someone wants to run a private server, they can have something "like" PU dependent on how well they mod it, and get it running and updated constantly, but if you want people to join it with reliable ping that depends on your own connection speeds and computer server (unless you buy a server).

Basically I wanted the private server for a couple different reasons:

- Joining custom made servers that have realism options or fair progression (first person only, third person switched OFF, and depending on someone's chosen starting profession they start with a certain ship instead of having access to some super ship they bought as a backer).
- OR making my own server for only select friends to join as we play against AI in a 'persistent' type setting to avoid griefers and use whatever ships we feel like
- OR truly just messing around and download/install cool or silly things like Star Destroyers or something; or heck a total conversion of SC with original Wing Commander ships and 8 foot Kilrathi

And chrissi just love peps like you , blinded fouled to belive ...jezz

Indeed the backers do have a right to know. I'd imagine he was trying to pull the game back on target - you know, a space game about space ships - and Roberts wasn't having any of it - not whilst there are still more sheep to be fleeced.

What concerns me is:

1) CIGs refusal to balance and tune what they have released so far. As it stands, AC gameplay is bad, and it only takes some XML tweaks to bring it up to snuff, and they refuse to take care of it. It's such low hanging fruit that people on the forums modded it to sort out the imba issues.
And if they do that ... people will complain that they spend ressources on this instead of "finishing" something else. CIG is in a position where they cant please everyone at the same time. Too many people want too many things. Will CIG fulfill all expectations? No, of course not. Someone WILL be dissapointed.

2) Too many cooks. 500 people is a lot of dough. Even if they make only 40 k per year (a pittance), that's 20M per year. Plus development is a few years in already. 85m isn't a lot of money for that size of a group. I have no doubt that they can eventually make it happen - just not with 85m going at this pace with this many people. At this pace, they need to secure more funding - which means solid and fun demos (point #1) and more milestones launched, even if not polished.
This will probably happen. But ... it is GOOD that this will happen, because otherwise they will polish modules and gameplay features till eternity, never to release anything. They have to make a commercial release soon. First, to generate more income from actual game sales to people who havent donated and second, to generate more donations, because they had a commercial release, proving they can deliver.

Will it be good game? I dont know. We will see

to generate more donations

DO they even do ANYTHING them self , or is it all : donate , donate , donate devs are getting so fucking lazy with all those fundraising...jezz Clown 's

Well, for a game like this one, the excuse might be "it's an online-only game!"

Not very controversial for an online only game to require you to be online to play, imo. I get the diablo sentiment though, that was simply an act of DRM under the guise of being of some service to players. Glad that whole auction house thing worked out so well for them. If they would have spent 1/10 of the resources burnt on that towards making the game experience better, we might have decent PVP and other things that were promised, but never delivered.

You are right.

Yes, but SQ42 is episodic now, so if and when it ever gets delivered it'll be a decade before it's done at this rate. All the real time and money is going into the P2W online game.

Let's just ignore the most recent information from CIG that the first "episode" of Squadron 42 is going to be what most studios release as a full retail title in playable content. *eyeroll*

And, um, what P2W are you referring to? It's a skill based game, not an RPG loot/gear/stats based game. Nor is there anything like a War Thunder/World of Tanks ammo shop.

And, um, what P2W are you referring to?

What ever you believe , what ever you believe

Yeah, it makes sense for them to do it that way, but it's not great for the people who've played for several years, maybe bought craploads of gems, to be told that they're basically irrelevant and can't you please just go away/die already.

Yep it really sucks. I'm sad to see the subscription model for MMOs dying out because it's really the only model that allows a game to stay afloat without milking its customers for every penny or requiring huge influxes of new players. It also puts everyone on the same footing, more or less.
What about all those MMOs that charge a subscription AND offer microtransaction items? $15 for a month's play, oh and here's a new horse you can buy for $20 too. You really miss that model?

without milking its customers for every penny

And why do they do that....hmmm lets see...yep because you all buy all kinds of pixel to get your 5 min of fame in tha town....you can thank your self for that..peps are the reason why games are like they are today , so stop whining and accept that.
