Obviously corporate Blizzard/Activision has gone the cereal/softdrink route with this, spend 50% or more of your budget on slick and plentiful advertising while churning out a flashy knockoff.

There is a reason why FPS games have languished.

The worst part is peps buy this kindergarden shit

I think the concept of these machines is kind of lost on some people around here, and there is a severe lack of imagination when it comes to their application. If you are already a PC gamer... you are not their target audience in any way. Basically if you are reading this on this website... they are not trying to sell you a Steam Machine so stop trying to figure out how to wedge it into your gaming-sphere or budget. A standalone PC is always, always, always.... always going to give you a more complete experience. They are basically only marketing this to soccer moms and possible console converts.

People get so braindead over the gamepad input too, it's so bizarre. All you have to do is plug in a KB+M to the Steam Machine... it's a computer.

You seem to understand the concept of the steam box, unfortunately a lot of people here don't...

For those of you that don't imagine what will happen when the gaming community can just buy a game on Steam Box instead of buying it on both xbox one and PC? The split in the gaming community can now be merged into a bigger gaming community which will hopefully do a lot for modding. If you think about it, it really sucks that we have three large gaming communities split across three platforms playing the same game on different systems.

I for one am excited for steam box, I may not get one but the idea of being able to play my steam library in my living room if I have company over excites me and I really look forward to how much larger the steam community is going to get because of the steam box.

So one place for all pc games...............no thx and for sure not a spysteamer.

So much screen crap, I don't know who got the idea that flashy animations is what people want - but its completely useless crap to me.

Too much noise on the screen is one of the most common complaints I've heard about this game.

They really need to tone down the flashy animations, and keep only what's necessary (and clearly visible) on the screen. Blizzard usually does a good job with effects and animations, but I don't want to play a FPS where half the time I can't see what the fuck Im shooting at.

you just wait for descent reboot lots lots lots of flair light good luck hitting anything there

It's not a terrible game by any means. Does it have issues? Yes. But i do enjoy the art direction and aesthetics of it all. The monsters look amazing as do the hunter models etc. Kudos to TR & 2k for attempting something different, but then they shit the bed with their pre-order/dlc/in game store model fiasco.

I hate to go against Gordon Gecko, but greed ain't so good..

What a fucking piece of garbage. I honestly curse myself for wasting my time commenting in this topic while I could've wiped my arse and started up The Witcher 3 already!

After reading the article, I was a bit surprised to see that Facebook is tracking users who aren't even logged in, as well as non-users.

Apparently their little Like/Share buttons that seem to be all over the damned internet now do a lot more, although the article doesn't say whether they are activated regardless of whether you actually click or not.

Its so nice that you can opt out on the faceshit buttons on the web...oh wait no you can't so sites that has this piece of shit on it are forcing peps ....fucking Clown 's

I don't understand why everyone here bitches to no end on how useless steam machines and linux are for gaming, but at the same time condemn MS for shit like this. You realize Valve is preempting moves that MS is taking to stifle the gaming industry to meet their fucked up agenda, which is most definitely console/tablet-first.

At least Valve's agenda is mostly in line with PC gamers. Windows 10 really scares me, it's shaping up to be the ultimate data mining platform and it's going to get massive traction because it's free. Get out of your comfort zone and support an open platform and force publishers to take our interests seriously.

the hardware is not the problem. there is almost nothing to DO with it

normal games are not compatible with VR in the way people imagine, so everything must be new

Facebook is developing games. And mark my words there will be some virtual social platform slash chatroom. That will be the killer app, essentially virtual meetings. That's not even hard to develop. Kids were nuts for this, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Palace_(computer_program) . Then there was Second Life. Soon Facebook and Google are going to enter this and the experience will be far more tightly controlled but with a lot more polish. Chatroom avatars are back is my bet.

Not very hard to belive since faceshit is on it and i bet that will be the only thing to see chatrooms and porn , but i think it will all go like the 3d tele 1 avatar movie the rest will be shit.

The purpose of tech demos seem totally lost on some here. It's not supposed to show you what you can run on your desktop hardware or what games might look like in x years, it's to show off the DX12 API and what they can do with it.

It literally doesn't matter how much hardware you throw at certain graphical problems if the API can't handle it. That is what this is showing off, how much insane fidelity DX12 can handle without crapping it's pants EVEN on current hardware. By the time this level of fidelity trickles down to gaming, those 4 titan x cards will be equivalent to a mid-range GPU.

I agree with Slick, the level of detail this video shows is incredible. I don't think some people even understand what they are seeing in this video.

The problem I see with these levels of fidelity is that they are only going to continue to ramp up development costs. Any bets that DX12 games start a new $70 price point? I was kind of shocked that the new consoles didn't attempt that already.

Any bets that DX12 games start a new $70 price point?

Whats the problem with that??.....people spend 1000$ > for pixels called ships , and that turns the developers on all you backers had it comming Clown 's

Yep, like Oculus as well. It had no chance to actually deliver with just the Kickstarter money, even though they didn't tell you that.
