What an utterly stupid question. I simply tend to question more than most. I'm a firm believer of the old adage, 'don't belief half of what you read and none of what you hear.' On the other hand people like you were a favourite of men like P.T. Barnum.

Don't believe none of what you hear? I think that's Glenn Beck's motto, actually.

Is the game even in production? It was cool for live action though.

Anyone try the multiplayer yet? A couple of friends and I were debating if it was worth trying. If someone could compare the style to other current games that would be appreciated.

Counter-Strike 2....Hmmmm....Why?

Because hundreds of thousands of people still play CSS or CS or CS 1.6. It'd be like if they released a really successful first title, followed it with a fantastic sequel and didn't bother making a third...

THIRD-PERSON SHOOTER MMO

Ah. Tabula Rasa 2.

But with Blizzard polish; I still think it's going to be a FPS/TPS hybrid MMO.

Blizzard won't make an MMO FPS, imo. It strays too far away from what they are used too. I'd like to see it, since it wouldn't take away customers from their other franchises. It'd be dumb to compete with themselves, against either StarCraft Diablo or WoW, but thats what I forsee them doing.

This is what worries me more than anything. Is this coming out on consoles as well? Are 3 year old children going to have fun playing this game?

I read it that way initially as well. But could he be talking reaching across genres? So far all they really do is RTS and MMORPGs. I mean, if you don't like RTS or over the shoulder games, that already takes out Starcraft, Warcraft, Diablo and WoW. Chances are they really just mean it is dumbed down, but it'd be cool to see something really different out of no where that brings in players from across the genres. I would never put Blizzard in a box. With the amount of cash they have, they can pretty much make anything their top team of desginers can come up with, which is a pretty exciting prospect. Also, there has never been a bad Blizzard game, imo.

Oh, I just don't know.

Me neither. I'm not exactly digging the whole Emilie Autumn vibe that some of Alice's... er... looks are akin to.

Part of what made Alice such a great game (despite ho-hum gameplay) was that it was different from what we were used to. It also helped that there was some truly twisted landscapes and backgrounds.

It'll fall flat if it doesn't manage to feel fresh and yet still twisted.

The landscapes looked pretty good from the trailer. I hope they can pull it off again.

So new story/characters that's suppose to impress? Rockstar needs to get with the times.

Where's the interactive, destructible environment ala Frostbite or Geo-Mod? That is the future of gaming, or a huge part anyway.

How about a guarantee PC simultaneous release? Or do they want some Epic type love their way..

And to go with that, how about a properly PC coded and optimized at release?

I predict none of this will happen except for the Epic hate maybe.

Destructible open world environments? Don't kid yourself, thats still a while off yet. And I'm not counting Mafia IIs bullet holes in concrete destruction, either. That processing power would cause most computers to crap themselves.

They don't seem too concerned with PC players, probably because they did the same thing with GTA4 and they did absolutely fine profit-wise.

Guys, these changes are all for the better. I mean, really, who wants to worry about skills anyway? It's hard enough figuring out the difference between attributes and talents. Hell, I was hoping they'd remove attributes as well. All those numbers are confusing and detract from the visceral and cinematic flow of the game! And thank goodness for the dialogue wheel. This is a videogame. If I want to read full sentences, I'll stick with books thank you very much. The tone icons make the dialogue much more visceral and cinematic. And I'm glad they're making the combat more visceral and cinematic. Having to manage my party and use tactics was boring and tedious. This isn't a strategy game. Now I can just press a button and something awesome happens! Oh, and the new influence system is so much better. It was lame when my companions got pissed off at me in DAO and wouldn't tell me about their backstory or ask me to help them with their quests and stuff. I mean, come on, how is that visceral or cinematic? This is an RPG! I should be able to do everything and everyone should help me even if I represent the antithesis of their beliefs and principles.

DA2 gets rid of all the outdated and silly things that made DAO suck. DAO felt like something from the 90's and it's time to move on to something more visceral and cinematic where awesome stuff happens whenever you push a button on your gamepad.

Dude this is so wrong, I really don't.....oh, I see what's going on here.

Looks exactly like COD, yet no one is whining. Bandwagons are fantastic. Hopefully they'll clutch the multiplayer and not have ridiculous player cap limits, while including vehicles and full size maps.

I doubt it's real, most people would have left, considering most people leave if they go 1 and 10, let alone 8 and 200. Probably set up, really isn't that hard to do with some effort. Also, the team they were playing was full of morons if it wasn't set up.

I mean, as much as I love jumping in singleplayer games....why would you want it? I mean, they give you the ability to slide over things, which is essentially the same thing. I've never found a reason to jump in a singleplayer game except when I was bored or I needed to get over an obstacle. They obviously designed levels so you wouldn't need to jump.

Here's an idea. How about everyone that is complaining about the price convinces the company that they work at to reduce their prices as well. That way everyone will have more money!

Problem solved, you're welcome.

Gaming companies are pushing supply/demand(or rather, price and demand) limits, as well as adjusting for inflation over the last 10 years. Maybe I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure games were about $50 10 years ago, consistently. That's about as much as $60 is worth in today's economy. We're more privileged now than ever though, since you can wait a year and get it for 10 or 15 dollars on steam. But most are too impatient to wait that long, so they complain as they buy it to make themselves feel justified in their purchase. Just drop the 60 and enjoy the double digit hours on entertainment that you really can't get anywhere else.

Played about 12 or so levels of Prelude. Really liking it so far, also the voices aren't nearly as "bad" as the comments have made it seem.

If I just download one map, do I just place it in my steamapps folder? Or the portal folder? Apparently neither. I'm a noob when it comes to playing mods/extra maps on portal. If anyone could help explain to me how to play downloaded maps that would be excellent.

Uh, both Doom and HL had multiplayer. And both games were less scripted and linear than your standard CoD/MoH/BF single-player campaigns.

Anywho, the problem with highly scripted, highly linear shooters is that they feel so shallow and formulaic. Depth and emergent gameplay are nonexistent. At least HL had puzzles. CoD is 100% mindless.

Doom hardly had it, and half life only had that Team Deathmatch game if I remember correctly, both died out relatively quickly. And HL was just as scripted. Rose colored glasses all the way. Doom didn't even have anything at all, just enemies.

People play these kind of games for singleplayer? Really? Isn't that not the usual "Michael Bay script parade for people, who dont like to play, but also dont want to watch TV, so the devs make this kind of interactive sequence, where you only simulate actual shooter gameplay, but dont require the player to actually play"?

I LOVE these scripted SP campaigns. A shooter for people who just want to shoot at everything without the need for actually hitting something. Makes me giggle everytime i "play" this
