You mean like MW3 has?

I'll believe it when I see it. Not one moment before. You know what Activision did the last time they said the same thing.

If they deliver, Mission accomplished. But I'm not holding my breath just yet.

The real sick part about this is the very thing mst people complained about were low quality servers: now just about everyone has a fat pipe and a dual-core processor; I can run 3 servers and still have enough bandwidth to play on someone else's while listening to Pandora. Definition of irony.

Yeah, RDR is pretty awesome. I'm playing it on my xBox. I'm OK with it on the xbox, though, as there really doesn't seem to be much they could add to make it compelling enough to ba a permanent library addition (i.e. we all know that it'd be a port, with no PC exclusives).

Not really liking the direction of the new Max Payne. The Film Noir feel was far cooler. From what little we've seen/heard, it seems like a mix of Far Cry 1 and CODMW2 Rio missions with a little Charlie Sheen thrown in. Meh.

"One of the most interesting things to me is how positive people are in the service. I'm most excited that within it, people are being supportive; they're actually talking to each other, and amongst each other," he says. "They're so happy to actually have a place to be part of a community, not a message board... they're actually behaving very much like people who just want to be social and have fun, not people who want to flame each other."

The above quote is some pretty hilarious pie in the sky PR talk that sounds painfully fake.

People are so excited to be a part of a community and open their wallets!!! Everything is so wonderful here and everyone is happy!!! It sounds like Kevin Butler talking about Playstation Home.

No kidding.

Obviously this guy was never the part of a gaming clan or club.

I just love how far they are willing to go to get away from the best policing that the game had: Independant dedicated servers run by individuals.

Adding carry-over XP & Perks totally fucked up the game. If they implemented them as "in-match" bonuses, and let us keep our dedicated servers, none of this crap would have happened to begin with. Sure, there would be a few asshat servers, but people would learn to avoid them.

Make no mistake, this is about the slippery slope to monetizing all aspects of gameplay.

In summary:

Dear gaming Industry: Let us have our Dedicated Servers and BanHammers back. We don't need a "community", we already have one; you're just not L-I-S-T-E-N-I-N-G to us.

I may be picky? But I think Fallout 3 had a better story than NV. Equally so was the DLC's more thoughtful to F3. NV feels so messy and thrown together in haste so you get tired after a while. When you were finished with the story in F3 you could go out on exploring and find hidden things. I like that extra effort from Bethesda Game Studios. It give the game a genuine feeling and it come from their hearts. I miss that in NV

I think that many people have a degree of sentimentality when it comes to Obsidian, as so many of their staffers worked on the original Fallout games back in the day.

IMO, these games are less story than most, and what they do have is more "choose your own adventure" style (which I like), as opposed to a hard script. That said, I will agree that the DC wasteland was much bigger and had far more locations than FNV. That part did disappoint me about the game a little bit.

The only component I give a spit about is the SP campaign, I havent played CoD MP sing the first MW, and, IMO, COD MP has had *zero* significant changes since that game.

Honestly, for MP in a a modern combat shooter, I still find Novalogic's Joint Operations to be the most fun.

I think this engine is OpenGL, but Carmack has publicly stated that DirectX is starting to pull away and unless OpenGL gets sorted, his next engine may very well be DirectX based!

And by his being on the OGL standards commmittee, his saying that says alot about the state of the OGL API. :/

Obsidian gets fluffed as these MASTER STORYTELLERS, but fuck me, that has to have been some of the worst fucking writing I've ever seen.

So, in the end, I got to start over after playing it for 7 hours. And the quests are all of the "go here and fetch me a Quest Item" variety, so they're not even all that enjoyable.

I hope Old World Blues is really as good as everyone says, because otherwise I'm done with Obsidian's DLC.

LMAO...I know it was frustrating, but that was one hillarious read, C.

Hell, I didn't even KNOW you COULD kill that guy and break the whole thing... Hilarious!

X360 was the lead SKU so I'm pretty sure they used Direct3D as their base API.

I'm pretty sure I remember JohnC stating quite a while back there was little/no reason not to use DirectX, in fact, OGL was starting to fall behind due to lack of cohesiveness in the OGL standards panel...the undertone being they it seemed he was hinting that id would be using it in Rage.... Blue?

*sigh*

^D^

You can trade games too. When you go to purchase a game, you can select "Store the gift in my inventory to send later".

Doesn't help me trade games I've finished off to friends, though. I have to buy it for the purpose of trading, or be lucky(?) enough to get free (giftable) copies under promos that others want.

I'd really like to see them add a trading/sales system for anything you have in your library.

Here's an innovative idea...make a game that has free server executables with rcon capability that let's people run a game on their hardware, allowing people they want in the game into the game.

God, $5 per month for what amounts to XBL for one game only? Stuff that.

I did the same thing. There was absolutely no way that ball was ever going down that hoop.

Hint: you have to shoot from above the basket.

Because why on earth would they want to give back to the community the way gaming companies did when they were learning the ropes (id, Valve, Epic)?

Yet another reason I'll pass. Closed servers and mods don't mix anyway.

This franchise was doomed from the day that Activision hired another developer to work on every other sequel. It was the begining of the end. Its just taking a long while, like cancer.

Doomed I tell you. Doomed.

I can't say for sure, but the team they compiled has a pretty good pedigree. Shoeffield in charge? Yeah, I'm not expecting the game to suck.

BF3, on the other hand, looked great at the reveal, but is looking more and more like that girl you picked up at the bar after a few too many...the more you see and know, the less you want to...

As for XP? I'm rushing out to not buy my ticket.
