CSI:Terra Nova --- A show so big, it took two networks to bankroll it.

Speaking of Terra Nova, am I the only one puzzled by the logic of that show's premise? Humans have made the earth unlivable, so the solution is to send humans back to prehistoric times, presumably so they can make the planet uninhabitable even sooner?

Oh, SURE...give away the plot to the series finale, why don't you?

Considering the team played through both DX games before even starting with DX:HR I think its safe to say they take the original into account when working on sequels. Next time you load up a game and see 2+ logos in the introduction then welcome to outsourcing. It's done in everything from MP design to writing to sound and texture design. Should they have outsourced this particular aspect of the game? Probably not but they were a bit busy creating the other 40+ hours of content so it's forgivable to any reasonable person.

You know, given what was in the article, it really does explain why the boss fights were shooter-centric versus fitting better into the gameplay mechanic of the rest of the game. It's definitely something I'd bring up at the project closure meeting under "lessons learned--design shortcomings."

Does anyone know if the cinematic at the end of the credits is the same for all four endings? I lack the patience to sit through them 3 more times at 10 minutes a pop.

Thanks.

I think you're missing their point.

They are saying your opinion of Dues Ex gameplay lacks credibility because you haven't even played the game.

I think you missed the point above in which I explain what I think of this old trope. If it`s still unclear though than please go and have look at any thread where people seem to make their minds up about a game before it was even released or reviewed. Like Rage for example.

What you think of this old "trope," doesn't make the comment any less valid. Your panning of the game without having played it is like criticizing food you've never eaten. Whether other people engage in the same practice is irrelevant, nor does it make your untested criticism any more valid.

All this bullshit because Microsoft refuses to re-write windows to be a little more secure, and compartmentalize processes like, say, Linux or OSX.

What a joke.

If MS's ability to force hardware vendors to do this doesn't help the DoJ in slapping their asses for monopolistic business practices, I don't know what will.

Hockey fans. They also make great console "party games".

Many fans also use this to drive their Fantasy league selections. Too bad EA screwed the pooch on last year's cup prediction (and I couldn't have been happier with the result).

Anyway, just because you don't like sports games doesn't mean they are a bad genre. I'm actually quite impressed with how well EA iterates and adds to these games each year. Roster changes, rule changes, hell, this year one of the teams was moved, requiring a total redesign of the sweaters and arenas that aren't in NHL11. They do an admirable job to catch the unique vibe oand design of the individual rinks, much like the racing games do with tracks. They also improve game mechanics and the graphics engine itself each year. Never regretted the copies of NHL I've bought.

IMO, the biggest fault of NHL12? Not having Tim Thomas on the cover. Sacrilege.

I think you're right, Beamer. As I recall, this venture was handles unther the "EA Partners" program, which, if memory serves, was for just such arrangements.

And don't even get me started on Origin. It downloads an installer rather than the game files, which is needlessly time consuming and requires additional hard-disk space (not that it's expensive). But it only downloads the base game, so you need to install patches separately. And EA games still require the EA Download Manager, as they haven't integrated the functionality. I mean, it's like we back to 1998 all over again! There's a reason Steam dominates digital distribution and a large part of that is elimination of tedious installers and manual patches.

Boy, it's SO unbelievable how people could have something against shitty Digital River Storefront #328 Origin! Rolleyes

Though I have to say that being required to Alt-Tab out of the game to join a new MP game through your browser+plugin has to absolutely take the trophy for smoothness.
