Meanwhile Bethesda is still adding new features to Skyrim

Skyrim update: Mounted combat

I never thought I'd see a day when Bethesda was making deeper RPGs, and giving better support for them, than Bioware... But here we are.

Okay, I'm not reading comments for any more Diablo 3 related stuff.

The PC gaming community has gone full retard.

At some point they should really make a sandbox type of game with that engine. It really needs to be unleashed.

Damn, Remedy sure did a 180 on the PC. Kicked this out in record time and[i included a GOG option!

As I've not finished the original, this will (sadly) have to wait.

That's probably because PC gamers bailed their asses out, and made Alan Wake profitable. Not bad for a dead hobby.

News Comments > Star Wars: The Old Republic Cuts
57. Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic Cuts May 22, 2012, 21:34 Beelzebud

I really had high hopes for this game. Bioware's MMO and Star Wars seemed like a no-brainer.

Then they just did a copy/paste re-skin of WoW, except without a lot of the convenience features WoW has amassed over the years.

If companies want to keep selling pay-to-play MMO's they really need to start coming up with some new game play mechanics and concepts. I mean a Star Wars MMO with no multiplayer space battles? How tone deaf can you get?

Before WoW made a trillion dollars most MMO teams created their own combat systems, etc. Now it's all the same cookie cutter skill trees, etc.

Notice how Blizzard doesn't sue every "world of" game, like Bethesda sues independent developers over the name "scrolls".

Yes, would have much preferred Obsidian's RPG.

They're working on Wasteland 2 now.

No they aren't. Chris Avellone (from Obsidian) is doing contract work for Inxile (who is making Wasteland 2). They're licensing some dialogue systems, and contracting Avellone to make an area or two, but beyond that Obsidian has nothing to do with Wasteland 2.

I thought this was supposed to be an RPG, not an FPS. (I mean hybrid like Deus Ex)

Obsidian was developing an Aliens RPG, but Sega pulled the plug on it a year or two ago.

Dragonborn appears in Dungeons and Dragons. How can they trademark that?

It's like tramemarking "elf"

Because their legal department is a bunch of assholes, who think they actually own the word "scrolls".

And this is why smart companies, who want to build communities around their games, give out mod tools.

This did not involve lawyers. Valve wasn't going to put a stop to the community you ignored.

Sincerely,

Nice to see them focusing on the important stuff. 64-bit clients and editors are just mere toys. Porting your old games to web browsers and phones is much more important.

I enjoyed the atmosphere and the story, but I really did not like how the combat turned out. Very clunky feeling. I'll be skipping this.

Portal 2 sold 4 million copies. I'm not sure how you can claim it hasn't sold well. Also, you're finding a reason to bitch about free content? You're perfectly free to not play Portal 2, and continue buying overpriced map packs for other games.

He must come from the camp of people that believe that if something doesn't absolutely crush everything else it competes with then it must be a total and utter failure. Anything less than 1st place is alwas an epic "epic fail" to them.

Ironically these are people who will most likely never sell a million of anything in their entire lives.

Epic gave away more UT3 content for free, than this, and UT3 wasn't even a financial success.
