Helf, re your question yesterday about Dishonored so far. I'm enjoying it but it's not blowing me away or anything. The environments are great but it's all a bit formulaic and predictable. I find the story wanting. It's just not as engaging as games like DX, Thief, Bioshock. It's also seems like it's pretty short as I think there are 7 acts and I've already burned through 5 - and that's exploring and doing the sneaky/low kill thing too. It was worth the $20 IMo but I'd have been miffed if I paid more for it.

That's pretty much how I felt about it. It's a nice looking game, but it just didn't suck me in like other games have. It is a bit on the short side too. Frankly I'll take less detailed huge games, than highly detailed short games. Last year I replayed Deus Ex, which was made in 1999. In 13 years, I doubt I'll even remember Dishonored.

I never once wanted a MP mode for Bioshock, or System Shock 2 for that matter, so I don't see the point to having one in this.

System Shock 2 had multiplayer. I played through the majority of the game co-op on a LAN.

My statement wasn't clear, but that's why I referenced "this isn't 1998 anymore". I never once felt the urge to play SS2 on multiplayer, even though it was available.

It isn't 1998. Thinking you have to tack on deathmatch to every first person shooter is archaic at this point. Focus on making a great single player campaign. People who want to play an online shoot-em-up, have plenty of other options.

In case anyone doesn't have SPAZ, I'd highly recommend it, even if you don't normally like space games. It is a bit rough around the edges being a low budget indie but it is ridiculously addictive and fun nonetheless.

I hope to see a sequel with more depth soon from these guys.

I'll second SPAZ. It's a really fun little game. I got it on a sale months ago, and sunk about 60 hours in to it. It's worth the money, for sure.

I'm going to give it a chance just because T-Ray worked on it, and he did some damn fine shit for the first two Fallout games.

Welcome to two months ago, Croteam!

Let's not give in to the ADD nature of our society. Just because this was known 2 months ago by some, doesn't mean it isn't worth talking about now. After all, a lot of people dismissed Valve's concerns, simply because Valve has Steam. Maybe if enough developers shout this from the rooftops, MS will give in on their plans.

The more I read about windows 8, the more I think it is going to be a powerful force in driving the sales of new Apple computers. And I say that as someone who hates Apple...

It's going to be a powerful force in driving PC owners to just install Linux on their machines. With Nvidia and AMD both putting a lot of work in to the drivers, and Valve about to put Steam on it, I can see more people just switching to the free OS than buying overpriced Mac hardware.

Yeah... but noscript is a hassle ;p

Honestly that's what i used to think too. However after a few days you don't notice it's there anymore. It's just a bitch when you start out with no white list tailored to the sites you frequently visit.

If only Blizzard had the kind of resources that InXile or MinMax games had, then they could afford to just do a proper Linux port.

But with a small indy studio like Blizzard you just have to take what you can get.

95% of all games do not have a Linux client, and I don't think Blizzard ever claimed that Linux was supported, so why single them out?

And how can people be surprised when their automated cheat detection system finds problems when people connect through an emulator on an unsupported environment?

I single them out because they're banning paying customers who would obviously prefer a Linux client, and they have the resources to do one if they wished.

Sounds like it's mostly a monster-arena style thing?

Creston

So it's the shitty DLC from the first game that everyone hated without a big stash to force people to get it? No wonder they can turn this out so quickly. Enclosed arenas are the lamest form of DLC no matter who makes them, why repeat past mistakes?

- DADES - This is a signature of my name, enjoy!

Because they know a high percentage of people will buy it. Gamers' lack of self control has made DLC the new norm. Even shitty DLC.

I'm going with the same strategy I used for Borderlands. Wait, and them scoop up the entire package when it's all on sale. If it takes 2 years, so be it, the game isn't really important.

Cliffy may be over the top, but I've been a big fan of UT for 14 years now. And the widespread use of the Unreal Engine speaks to its fidelity as well as ease of use. Say what you will about the man, but the results speak for themselves.

He had nothing to do with coding the Unreal engine, that is Tim Sweeny...

Which the Mass Effect series didn't do. Not even a little bit. Shepard had no prophecy, no special birthright, no magical powers above anyone else's.

Yeah the hero named Shepard, who dies and is resurrected, wages war with Legion, and then sacrifices himself for us, had not even a little bit of that sort of thing.
