News Comments > Star Citizen @ $58M
17. Re: Star Citizen Passes $58M Oct 16, 2014, 01:01 Beelzebud

What's interesting/amusing to me is how the comments for this game always come down to two fanatical sides. Much like every issue these days, there seems to be no moderation whatsoever. You're either all in, or you think it's a giant scam.

I'm dubious of their claims and promises, but think it would be great if they proved everyone wrong. I'd play the game they're envisioning, I'm just skeptical that they can actually pull it off. That being said I hope they can do it, I certainly am not routing for them to fail.

Don't start an entertainment company that is dependent on a government gravy train, and this wouldn't happen. Plenty of blame to go around, but most of it falls with Shilling and his team. They pissed away millions.

News Comments > Gold - Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel
13. Re: Gold - Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel Oct 2, 2014, 02:15 Beelzebud

I really despise low-grav first person shooters, so I'm definitely going to wait on this one until I can determine how much of that garbage occupies the game.

And as others have said, with the way they milk out the DLC on these games, it's probably smart to just wait a while and get it on sale. I had a blast with Borderlands 2, but the second I started reading about low-grav combat I tuned out.

Remember folks, Fallout HAD to be turned into a first person shooter, because clearly turn based RPG's are dead.

Wasteland 2 is one of the few games in recent memory that lived up to the hype. I'm amazed at how great this game is turning out to be.

It's vindication for many of us that knew the Fallout franchise could have been successful while staying true to its roots.

News Comments > MS to Reveal $2.5B Mojang Deal Tomorrow?
52. Re: MS to Reveal $2.5B Mojang Deal Tomorrow? Sep 14, 2014, 17:45 Beelzebud

When Notch first put out Minecraft he said eventually the entire codebase would be opened under the GPL. He also said MS was evil and were trying to destroy gaming on the PC, right before calling Occulus Rift a bunch of sellouts for going with Facebook.

And now he's selling Mojang to MS? People really don't have any principles that can't be bought these days. The man already has hundreds of millions of dollars he got without the help of MS.

Oh well. I don't play Minecraft much these days, and having less games to buy in the future is a good thing.

I wonder if people brag about pirating Sims 4 because they actually wanted to play it.

8. Re: SEGA's Aliens: Colonial Marines Lawsuit Response Sep 4, 2014, 00:23 Beelzebud

I hate to be this guy, but what made Alien a success had more to do with Dan O'Bannon writing a terrific script, and H.R. Geiger bringing the aliens to life.

Once Cameron was on his own it quickly just became action movie fodder, and the "haunted house" creepiness was gone.

News Comments > Wasteland 2 Delayed?
33. Re: Wasteland 2 Delayed? Aug 2, 2014, 13:39 Beelzebud

So the big argument here is that they shouldn't have delayed the game 3 times, and instead should have shoveled out some half-finished slop and called it a day?

GaymerX? Really? Is there any sexual/racial problem in gaming that needs to be addressed? Where is HeteRox, the political lobby group about hetero rock musicians, or AfriGame about African American gamers or... *sighs* Really, guys, there are more important groups that need every single buck to fight starvation, diseases, and the Starbuckisation of once great coffee. Well, alright, maybe the last one does not need the money.

Say what you want about Gearbox, but it's pretty damn cool they are going this far for the original Borderlands.
