In order to prevent this kind of senseless violence, we'd have to live in a very restrictive society, like that of East Germany 30 years ago. We have freedom in the US. A very few people abuse it with tragic results. But I'm always reminded of Ben Franklin's quote:
They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.
It doesn't make what happened right, nor does it mean we should not take action to bring perpetrator(s) to justice or implement reasonable precautions. But freedom comes with a cost, and we must take care not to overreact to this event.

One of the great joys of marathons is that you can be within a few feet of some of the greatest athletes in the world and you can participate in the same events that they do. There are almost no other sports where that is the case. It would be a shame if we radically changed marathons as a result of this event.

Obama would be more than happy to radically change things. He's been pushing for it since day one and tragedy's like this are all the fuel he needs.

TROOOOOOLLLING

You and nin really need to learn the difference between trolling and stating an opinion. IE anyone who doesn't share your political views is not automatically a troll.
No, it's trolling. Can you name a single politician that hasn't done this?

Let's look at the Iraq War and the PATRIOT Act, to begin.

And I know you'll respond with something stupid like "BUT OBAMA SUPPORTED THE PATRIOT ACT," as if that's relevant to the point.

For the record, and I've said this before, I didn't support the patriot act under Bush and I still don't support it now under the Obmessiah. Granted I also don't think it would have taken Bush a 14 hour filibuster to state on the record it's unconstitutional to order drone strikes on your our own populace, yet it took Obama and his cronies that long.

The lines are there, the people he's tied to, the people he's surrounded himself his entire life certainly aren't conservative in nature, so it's really not a leap in logic to see his agenda and how he'd like things to be. He openly pisses on the constitution on a regular basis and says as such and sheep like you still think he's doing a good job.

PS: Pure Shot mode not available when our servers are down.

I've never liked all these wacky new modes on my sports games; it's basically why I stopped playing the baseball games. Rather than just play a fun game of baseball, now I have to position my fielding glove, and then with the analog controller mimick the motion of throwing to first base, and mimick the motion of swinging the bat, and mimick the pitcher's windup and and and and.

Ugh. I just want to play a game of baseball. I don't want to accurately simulate the life of a major league player. :\

Creston

Except that you're pulling shit out of your ass. I don't know how Fifa's controls are at this point, but NHL's controls are fluid and intuitive.

Fifa 13 on the consoles not named Wii was actually fairly revolutionary, at least according to the videos and gifs out there.

It definitely had a new, innovative physics engine that led to some of the most ridiculous, hysterical glitches I've seen in ages.

See some here.

The glitches, in many videos, come from a hyperactive physics engine, but to me show how detailed that physics engine is. Even the hit detection when those two dudes kiss... I mean, uh...

Of course, it's still probably dull so I haven't played it, but youtubing "fifa 13 glitch" leads to good times.

NHL this past cycle was the same. New physics and skating engine. The skating revamp actually did wonders for the game. The physics engine still needs some work as there's plenty of comical youtubes out there showing how wonky it can be.

EA is putting effort into their sports titles the last few years, as much as the haters won't ever admit it.

This is what Beamer does, he assumes he knows how everyone's life went and then preaches to them about how unfair the world is.

Unfortunately, Canada has been 'stepping up to the plate' on US wars in Afghanistan and Libya. And what a waste of taxpayer dollars that has been.

I stand corrected, thanks for that. Again agreed, we had no business starting another war on top of two mistakes already.

Yep it's the US fault the world hates us, yet asks for us to step in anytime anything happens anywhere in the world.

Really? And where are they asking for this? Vietnam? Iraq? Central America? South America? Must be nice in your little Fox bubble where America has never done anything but good in the world and everyone else is the problem. It's just such a nuisance when your resources turn up in their countries and you have to go take them by force.

Yes because I clearly said the US has never done wrong. You should really work more on your reading comprehension and less on the ad hom. Fact of the matter is, as much as it bothers you Cutter, the US is the world's police for better or worse. Haven't seen Canada step up to the plate lately on well, anything now that I think of it.

Well, I mean, the billions annually we paid dictatorships in the middle east really worked out well for us and is certainly something the people demanded.

Including all the money handed to the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt. We're funding our own enemies at this point. Still though, who's the first country called when shit goes down? It sure as shit ain't France.

Sure, but maybe we ought to stop answering the phone. Or at least start screening the calls.

Agreed, you can cut a ton of financial aid all over the place as well, it could be put to better use at home.

So why did they even need a Publisher and of all the Publishers MICROSOFT?? You can self-publish on Steam...............

Microsoft isn't publishing the game, but they own the rights to making Shadowrun games, so they needed a license agreement for this game.

Whoaw... I did not know that... how the heavens can a licensing agreement force you to use DRM? Well that's MS for ye...

Still this is borderline evil, if they did know this before they should have made this clear during kickstarting. And not months after with no way for recourse. Maybe they just don't understand what DRM Free version means. Backers were offered the GAME DRM FREE, not "A version of the game you can't buy any DLC for"

Mhh...

And you'll get the game DRM free. And the editor. And everything else the promised you. AND you'll get a Steam key.

What's the big fucking deal? And to Julio, how is it fraud? You get 100% of what you paid for. So future DLC is out of the picture. Most people bitch about there being DLC in the first place.

I swear, if everyone was given free blowjobs some of you folks would bitch about having to give up your Precious Bodily Fluids.

Glad I'm not the only one who feels this way.

Sorry, but excusing a controller to play a pc game is total garbage. I did not spend a bunch of money on high end pc hardware just so I can excuse a ported game to be played on my pc. Sorry, but that’s absolutely crap and should never be tolerated. I did not buy a pc to turn it into a shitty high-end console.

I'm not the kind of PC purist that thinks that a PC game means mouse + keyboard. I'm also not the kind of PC purist that thinks that, if a game doesn't use every little electron in the high end hardware I bought, then it shouldn't even be there. I'm also not the kind of PC purist that sees game "ports" from consoles as "lesser".

I like games. I have a PC. I don't own any consoles. I just want to play good games, that's all. Does that sound offensive to you?

Careful they might start calling you a troll for not hopping on the hate bandwagon.

Mobile is very volatile, it's a part of the market that is still searching for a identity, layoffs are going to happen whether it's EA or another publisher with a mobile arm/studios.

But you guys continue your crusade and fighting the good fight against the evil that is EA. I'll be too busy enjoying games regardless of who publishes them.

Getting fiber laid anywhere is a fucking nightmare, when I worked at UUNet we would basically spec out a project then multiply our final figure by three to account for municipality bullshit and other problems.

And what about the many cases where the Telcos/Cablecos aren't picking up the slack and actually suing municipalities who want to build and maintain their own infrastructure because they have no other option. No, the big COs are the real problem.

You obviously don't work for a municipality. Your ignorance shows that.
