Indeed. I'd argue the deeper problem is within our society itself. The pursuit of monetary goals over all others has created an everyone for himself atmosphere and that now permeates every facet of society - politics, religion, social, etc. Hell even the arts are now one giant industry.
It's easy to blame the politicians but they are just playing the same game as everyone else on a grander stage. The American Dream is not sustainable. It would be if we'd stop making government bigger, end corporate lobbying and cut spending arm over foot. |

I tested it out with an alt, the chest drops are good but nothing spectacular. The problem is that the drop rates in the game are dog shit so people keep turning to the chest trying to make up gear deficiencies. It is not uncommon for someone to be use a decent weapon for 10 levels because they never find anything comparable. Most of the decent guns come from slots or quest rewards.
It doesn't help that killing most of the bosses results in the loot flying forth as if you just burst the worlds biggest pinata. I've seen an orange go into unreachable lava LOL. They still have not patched loot being underneath the world texture either.
I don't know, I like BL2 but there is a lot of stuff that grates on me just like the first game. At least this time its not related to the port itself I guess.
The loot falling through the geometry bug is ridiculous, I've had to restart the game a few times due to a quest item being UNDER the ground and unreachable. Otherwise I've enjoyed BL2 for the most part.
Looking far more forward to X-Com though. So much so that I may take Tuesday off. |

You can’t rent a dedicated server; they’re just free for your use. This seems odd. Treyarch would rather pay for every single dedicated server in the world instead of just letting users rent them from GSPs? What could be the reason behind this? So they can kill the servers when it's time for you to buy BO3. My thoughts exactly. You want multiplayer after the release of the next CoD? Well, buy our new game because we're taking the servers for the old game offline. Have we ever had a person here actively playing a game that got taken offline? It's always several-years-old sports games and games no one purchased. If you take down what people do play they won't buy the next one, like a dog that's been kicked. For all of EAs crap, at least they do wait until no one plays a game. Why the fuck are you always apologizing for every thing the game industry does? Do you fucking work for EA or something? Activision? WTF is your malfunction here fucknuts? You look around and like what you see? Are you really that fucking shallow and easy to please? If so, please DO fuck off and allow people with actual feelings to discuss this shit. FUCK OFF! I see you've met our resident publisher shill. |

It never ceases to amaze me how the telcos and cable cos try so hard to make it sound like we get a good deal here, and things like paying for channels ala carte and real competition are somehow bad for us.
That's what happens when you're stuffing the pockets of politicians and they deregulate caps on billing. Thanks Mr Clinton.
It's quite amazing to me that the government broke up all the Bells for being a monopoly only for them to essentially end up being the same thing we have now with only a couple major carriers owning the majority of the market. IE: Comcast, ATT, Verizon. |

Of course, Obama could just repeal the Ethanol mandate, but then gas goes up. (It should go up by about 35 cents, but I guarantee the oil companies will manage to turn that into a buck fifty price hike.)
The BETTER thing to do would be to invest the hundreds of billions of dollars required to create proper irrigation systems for the corn belt, but doing the better and long-term thing always seems to elude the US, for some reason. (Keep putting those power poles above the ground, fellas! It's not as if tornadoes and thunderstorms take them out at a rate of a few dozen a day!)

I think you misunderstand what this EU lawsuit is for, they want to prevent MS from becoming too powerful, so your idea would be more than welcome I think.... They should remove every feature of the OS while they're at it. No media player or Windows live for example. Wouldn't want to be intrusive to anyone in Europe now having working program options available right away to them upon installation. |

No wonder publishers don't take chances and just pump out sequels and me too copy cat titles of whatever big title is currently the hot game.
Especially in the case of Xcom being only 50 when most titles are 60 out of the gate these days. I buy plenty of stuff at full price - and overpriced to boot - generally just not games but most games aren't worth it IMO. I'm not cheap, I just expect good value relative to what I buy as does everyone else. I dropped $63 on a bottle of Pinot Noir from Oregon last week and didn't blink and eye doing it. And whilst it was overpriced it was entirely worth it. If I can save 8 bucks on a game and apply that to something else I'm damn sure going to and so will most other people.
Sorry I wasn't trying to single you out really Cutter, I just tend to eye roll alot when an obvious quality title is coming and you have generally the same handful who won't buy it at all unless they can use Greenmangaming or whatever. Drives me crazy.
Not that I'm against saving money or anything crazy like that, but at the same time I have no issue paying full price for something like BL2, or Skyrim, or Xcom that I know I'm going to get my money's worth out of. |

Just mechanics wise it doesn't sound like something that would be easy to do, or very fun to play to be honest. You move your guys on your turn, but you put them in the spot your friend wanted to put his. Oh shit the enemy just flanked your guys and your friend is half way across the map and it isn't his turn to move for awhile.
Not every game needs co op. I realize that's the "big thing" now, personally for a game of this type single player works just fine thanks.

I haven't pre-ordered yet, as I'm holding out for a decent sale price. Has anyone found any deals, aside from a 10% pre-order discount from Amazon and GMG? [EDIT] The below may no longer be valid...just looked at the "free" game and it looks like it's $20 now ... Yup, blog says it ended at 11:00 UTC today. Sorry. Link to Blog About Deal Ending[/EDIT]
You can get the game for 44.99 + $8 off using the following link on Green Man. Good till Oct. 1st-ish...depending on time zone. Obviously no steam "goodies" if you go this route. I've been holding off for a demo....gonna try it out tonight and buy if I'm into it. Damn. Just got into GW2 as well. lol.
XCOM Deal Page Yeah the deal appears to be over. Dammit! I thought it ran untill October 1st. Welp, I was going to buy it today after that great demo but now I'll wait and see if they do something similar again. Seriously listen to the musical arrangement during act 1, It's like a rearranged Diablo 2 Act 1 with some of the melody actually identical in spots.
Same thing with alot of the spell sounds/contact sounds, pretty much identical to Diablo 2. It's like after these guys got the axe at Blizz north they took the source code for D2 with em to reuse later It's the same sound designers who worked on Diablo 1 and Diablo 2. Many of the sound effects were actually stock sound footage and the music is just Matt Uleman's style. It's a budget priced game that competes with Diablo 3 on features and gameplay, I am pretty happy with it. Oh no I realize that, just something I noticed as playing, not trying to hate on the game, it's pretty good for a 20 dollar title. |
