You can't jump in Bulletstorm, right? I am amazed it sold more than 10,000 copies.
Not that jumping is integral to a FPS, but what exactly was their horribly contrived reasoning for no jumping?
I assume it was running out of buttons on the console that led to the no jumping decision?
No jumping is why I boycotted Guild Wars 1. |

Having a full 3d enviroment and physics model actually allowed for some interesting possibilities, and I'd put it right up there with the Jagged Alliance series. I'm not happy that it won't be turn-based anymore, but that's only because I loathe RTS games. If this game's RTS is a combination of pausing and issuing complex orders then I wouldn't mind seeing how it turns out. Silent Storm is one of the greatest games ever made. Some will say it's sacrelige, but I think Silent Storm was BETTER than X-Com and Jagged Alliance in some ways...
Jagged Alliance 2 is very good, but I was honestly not a fan of some of the mechanics and of course the graphics caused severe eye bleeding. Hopefully BiA is flat out amazing. |

This is an awesome comment, because it's a video game based on a comic book. Realism really should be maintained. lol...awesome...
I for one hope they continue to minimize reality in my video games and comic books. If I want reality I know where to find it. It wasn't a call for realism, obviously it's based off a comic book.
However it was kind of obvious they only had like 3-4 body models in the entire game for Arkham Asylum, console influence I assume. That, at least to me, was sort of funny, then eventually a bit boring: 5,000 prisoners, white, black or whatever, basically the same silhouette.
From that point it made me wonder, how fit would a city/island have to be as a whole, to have only these few body types on display? Then extrapolating further, limb breakage by Batman in this trailer per second, on any given day; or if the populace is that fit, would they even have time for crime, working out that much, etc.
It was a failed attempt to come across like the Superman/Lois Lane absurdity essay: Man of Steel, Woman of Kleenex, oh well.

Arkham City is looking great, I'll definitely get it on sale at some point, but this video just reminds me how out of whack the body models are for this game and the first one;
almost every person is apparently 260+ pounds of muscle, 1% body fat. Also Batman must keep thousands of ER doctors working round the clock, resetting all these snapped limbs.

Dead Island, a game similar to the CG trailers, would have been possibly the greatest game ever made.
Dead Island, the actual game, based on gameplay videos, looks like a bargain buy at best. Somewhere between GTA3 and Left 4 Dead, which might sound awesome at first, but the gameplay looked a bit limited in practice.
I'm waiting for a demo and reviews of the final version, personally. |

What the hell is with these live action trailers? As bad as the CGI trailers are at misleading people about gameplay, the live action trailers are just pointless.
Game Developers: stop trying to be directors. Concentrate on making fun(ideally), intelligent(hopefully), balanced(maybe?), bug free(lol!) games. |

I'd really like to see the total numbers/total cash value of internet sales for PC games.
Between Steam sales, Gamersgate sales, gog.com, D2D, etc. It has to be several orders of magnitude higher than PC physical sales, and probably actually challenges/exceeds some of the console sales.
Seriously, how many Steam bargain bin addicts are there on these forums alone?

Minor point, but it was REVENGE of the Jedi on the marquee... assuming its an alternate timeline reference and/or just wanting to not be sued.
And while the action seems largely typical FPS (point and shoot) the rollercoaster travel all over the place adds a unique dimension to the combat. Yeah, that looked quite awesome... I assume you can just tell the various companions you get during the game to just wait, while you spend 4+ hours flying around the city on those rails. |

Jerykk wrote on Jul 10, 2011, 01:44: The horse part was completely scripted too, as were all the interactions between the Vox and civilians. In fact, a lot of the stuff they showed couldn't work without heavy scripting. For example, what if the first thing I did after leaving the store was run to the horse and then shoot it in the head? What if the next thing I did after that was shoot a random civilian in the head? Hell, what if I killed every civilian I saw? Would Elizabeth still enjoy my company?
My guess is that you can't reach the horse before Elizabeth and you can't shoot the civilians. That's the problem with trying to tell a very specific story and convey a very specific experience. You have to take control away from the player and I saw a lot of that in the demo. You are probably right, and I'll definitely be playing this game attempting to break the scripting, but aside from that it looks very interesting. Appears to have about the same level of scripting as Dead Space 2, but I loved Dead Space 2 on the pc, I'm afraid to say.
In comparison, Oblivion is wide open for player control, and frankly it's boring as hell. I've never come close to finishing Oblivion, even with the mods. On that note, I hope Skyrim is actually a decent game, and not just another wilderness sandbox.
Replay value drops with heavily scripted events, usually, but it doesn't mean the game won't be fun the first time. This just reinforces my belief in patience, and buying 'AAA' games when they go on sale in 6 months to a year after release, and are somewhat patched up. |

Each to his own, but statements like this are very depressing for the future of PC gaming, in my opinion.
Sacrilege, using a controller (for non Tekken/MK/SF style fighting games) on a PC.

That phrase has been used by real scientists for more than 50 years. Yes, but almost always as a bit of a joke, a perfect substance that does not actually exist in this universe. Cameron, as far as I can tell in Avatar, meant it as a serious term for an actual element/material, that Giovanni Ribisi's character actually holds a piece of early in the movie. Netflix'd!
Back on topic: Rage looks good, despite borrowing heavily from other games/sources! |

"where they will internet connectivity and support from the GameSpy Technology Staff."
There will be no help at all from GameSpy's grammar department. I can only assume the missing words were "enjoy" and "loathe."
Also, GameSpy!!! An obvious trap! |
