That's a nice idea, but it doesn't work in practice because you get metric tons of "repair hammers", so degradation becomes utterly meaningless and nothing more than a chore. That's a problem with implementation, not the concept of degradation itself. If they wanted to make degradation more meaningful, they could just remove the hammers and force you to repair your stuff at workbenches, ala Dead Island. Or they could make the hammers very rare. Or some combination of the two.
People are too quick to dismiss concepts and mechanics based on poor implementations, even when the fundamental ideas behind them are solid. Degradation can add a lot of depth to a game, as long you implement and balance it properly. Sadly, Bethesda sucks at all things pertaining to balance. Personal opinion here, of course, but repairing weapons is never fun, in any game, to me. Regardless of whether it's supposed to be survival horror or 'old school' rpg or whatever, it just takes me away from doing the fun stuff, to do a menial, repetitive chore.
I'm glad there is no repair (still none, right?) in Skyrim. |

And I think his handywork is fairly evident in the game, in that it's set up almost exactly the same way as Oblivion. Stick to the roads, and you're safe, but start straying and you'll get your ass handed to you in a hurry. Ah, I did not know this. Good to hear that Oscuro's hard work got him gainful employment... I enjoyed the hell out of Fallout:NV compared to Oblivion(which I still have yet to finish, been bored to quitting a few times).

Hrm, a nice side scrolling Castlevania game on the Trine 2 engine would be sick.
I finally finished Trine 1 after they patched it to 1.9 or so, it's great. Although, in hindsight the end level is about three to four times as any of the previous levels, easily...
All that said, I'm leaning towards pre-ordering also, even though my DRM free Trine 1(Humble Bundle) is looking pretty sweet compared to the possible Steam version of the sequel on my comp. |

Hrmm, as much as I want Trine 2(which is quite a lot), I have no desire to play the beta version, at all.
Finish up testing this game, removing bugs etc. and I look forward to playing the polished, FINAL version! |

DoW2 is an insult to the concept of RTS games.
Take away base building if you must(and think HARD before you do that), but don't dumb down the rest of the game and allow so few units that the game becomes trivial. Fake RTS players already have DotA/LoL style games to waste the world's bandwidth on.
*Sheds a tear for the former makers of Homeworld(1 and 2) and DoW 1. |

Looking forward to this, but I'll probably buy it after a Steam sale, at this point. Still playing through the Stronghold Collection from Gamersgate that I bought for 5 bucks awhile back.

These guys are obviously new to the software development game, and have made some major mistakes. The internet being what it is, of course random anonymous assholes flame them and the Indie Stone guys respond horribly.
Moral of the story, the actual game developers should never talk directly to customers. Only ass kissing or flame wars will result. Use forum moderators/impersonal surveys/PR people, etc.
Honestly though, it'll probably help these guys in the long run, learning these lessons the hard way. The game is interesting, and if they can get their minds right they can still release a great product.
I look forward to the retail of Project Zomboid, as well as their next game. |

I remember when this game was just a little freeware UDK project...look how big it is now! *sniff*
Although they keep raising the price, and pushing back the release date... it's like they are a mainstream studio!
(Originally it was listed at 9.99[Gamersgate], now 14.99, and release held back for months) |

Meh, that looked like one of the armed forces recruitment commercials. A bunch of no names, in generic action clips.
Who else remembers the instant classic that was Navy Seals, the Charlie Sheen/Michael Biehn picture? Now that was a quality SEALs movie.
Also, the privilege of playing on a movie screen, rofl.

They should be knocking out Homeworld 3, and a real DoW sequel, not this various 3rd person shooter and fake RTS nonsense. |

Anything else would be silly. Well, one would think it would be obvious that future projects from Bethesda or licensed from Bethesda would use either the Creation Engine(Skyrim) or the id Tech 5 engine (Rage). At least, we can hope... |

Incidentally, if you despise Facebook like I do, you can enter for keys WITHOUT joining Facebook.
Go to the rules page, at the bottom there is a link for "Alternate Method of Entry"
Just requires an email address.

Well, I hope this isn't a credit card scam of some sort. Trailer looked real, if as others have said, sort of a Deadspace clone.
10 Million orders seems unreasonable, with a November 25th release.
Still, Good luck, you crazy Pols!
*About to order 2 keys, but the English is a bit suspect on their order page. Russian Scammers posing as friendly Polish software developers?
*EDIT* Nevermind, only option to pay is Paypal. May their dreams turn to nightmares.

I impulse bought it and now I feel dumb because it has bad DRM and I don't think I'm going to like it because while I knew it was strategy and turned based I didn't expect it to be so verbose. Same here, impulse buy, and after a few hours, it seems like it will take some serious learning on my part to get even proficient at it, let alone good.
Still, there is definitely some depth to the game, and I've already paid for it, so I'll keep at it and see how it feels after I get past the learning curve a little.
I do recommend waiting for a GoG release though, if anybody is considering it and doesn't want to support their current SecuROM overkill.

Word of warning, Blood Bowl:Legendary Edition seems to have some seriously annoying DRM. Steam, of course, plus Limited Install SecuROM, plus some other key based DRM(or multiplayer key system?) after you get through the first two.
Talk about overkill. This game had best be the greatest thing ever made by mankind.
I totally missed the SecuROM nonsense, I had assumed there was none with it being on Steam and 8 dollars. Oh well.
To be fair, there is a revoke tool, but still annoying. Here.

A lot of vitriol in this thread, but imagine the hilarity that will ensue when people start duping items for real cash. When, not if. The only real question is how long it will take for that to be made public...
Come on, Torchlight 2, Grim Dawn, Path of Exile! |

Hrmm, no 4 weapon limit(not counting non-gun items)? Excellent.
Looking back over the previews, I was apparently misled by the little console weapon switch GUI, with only 4 slots. Apparently you can still carry like 20 guns at a time? Excellent.
Now, if they can just get rid of that ridiculous 60 dollar price...
*EDIT* Spelling. |
