News Comments > Wasteland 2 Visual Upgrade Coming
16. Re: Wasteland 2 Visual Upgrade Coming Feb 28, 2015, 00:12 MoreLuckThanSkill

Looking forward to this patch, a 2nd Wasteland 2 playthrough is in the queue already, so I'll just wait a bit.

Assault rifles definitely were the strongest weapon, but sniper rifles/pistols/shotguns were all good. SMGs were barely tolerable, and Heavy Weapons were kind of a joke. Allow the full range of mods on ALL guns, like ARs get, and that'd be a good start to buffing the other gun categories.

Heavy Weapons still need a base damage buff though, in my opinion.

Energy Weapons could probably use a total rework... the damage model penalizes the 'end game' guns... bah it's been said before.

I'm looking forward to the Visual Upgrade patch though.

Alternate title: 10 Animals who have learned how to easily manipulate humans. Possibly to lull them into a slaughter later.

Hrm, I want the music, but I refuse to support vinyl as a format. It literally degrades(slightly) every time you use it!

Intolerable!

I am debating getting the digital special edition for the remixes... but I don't know, seems like I've been buying a ton of games again lately. The Steam/Gog/Gamersgate/Humble queue is getting long indeed.

Looks mildly interesting... I loved the Evil Within, but I have no tolerance for this overpriced DLC. I'll jump on it when it's all out and on sale for a deep discount.

Sweet...Hotline Miami was a lot of fun and had some killer music.

Looking forward to HM2, probably on Gog.com unless there is a major steam sale.

PoE better kick ass after this year long delay.
Agreed, but we might need a different abbreviation, "PoE" is pretty much taken already by Path of Exile.

Pillars? PE? PEt? PoEt? A question for the ages!

Troll post? Have you ever even played the game? Your ships turn on their own to fire at targets. And sphere formation surrounds and move with the target while firing.

Hrm, sphere surrounds? I don't recall that, but it's been about 10-12 years.

I'll try it out in a few days.

Ah, good old Wall formation. The most firepower delivered at once, assuming you can get your ships to be perpendicular to their target.

Sphere formation, aka get ships blown up on the edge for no reason while ships in back do no damage.

That's a shame. Hopefully the Darkest Dungeon guys can get that resolved quick, they should be getting all the money and a ton of respect for their excellent work.

It's in my queue on Steam, Red Hook, just gotta burn through some old games first!

Wow, never thought I'd describe a skunk as "cute" but that one is...

I'm actually fine with Pratt as Jones. It's a franchise that's going to outlive the folks that did the original, and changes are bound to happen. And frankly, they could do a fuckload worse than Pratt.

Yeah, Pratt is hardly the worst choice they could have made. If they actually use him, they'll probably lean even more towards slapstick/comedy in the next Indiana Jones, which is fine too.

Skunks = always cute... on camera. Any skunk you see in the wild is probably either rabid or ready to spray you into leper status. That skunk most likely had its glands removed, so it's crippled, but... skunks in captivity live a lot longer than in the wild... borderline acceptable to me for somebody to have one as a well treated pet.

That octopus video though... wow, what a badass predator!

Hahaha! Wow, the balls on this guy! Rent virtual equipment, players!

If only we could go back to the good old days of Horse Armor... this is truly a new low for gaming in general.

I am almost amazed at Chris Roberts' virulent capitalism, but it's easily overshadowed by embarrassment and pity for the people who got sucked into his schemes for $73 MILLION.

Well that's it then. That's kind of a relief, actually.

I was holding out hope that D3 could be salvaged some day; now we can just uninstall.

5 Man Squad Obliteration? Come on, DICE.

I know 'pro' gamers, infected by Counterstrike and MOBAs, are into small teams, but DICE really needs to get their act together and start promoting you know, actual Battlefield, aka Conquest.

10-16(+1 Commander) man teams on Conquest or Large Conquest maps, that is what Battlefield is(or at least should be) all about. Air/Land/Sea Vehicles, flags to cap, some infantry heavy spots and some vehicle heavy spots, you know, the gameplay that used to be the ideal, from BF1942, BFV, BF2, etc.

I'm not going to bother suggesting 20, 24 or even 32 man teams, DICE sometimes seems to have forgotten those exist, in terms of clans.

Oh well, BF4 is still a fun pub game at least.

The whole creating a dungeon and trapping it is nice and all, but I want to be the ones invading it. I wish they would make a game type like that where you can be the Heroes invading and looting their dungeons.

Now, that would be kewl. They could even call it Dungeon Invaders.

I should register that name.

That sounds like a decent game idea, unfortunately you will have to work on the name a bit.

Hrm, looking pretty good, and obviously looking much more Dungeon Keeperish than Dungeons 1.

This is still on my wish list, hopefully it turns out to be a good homage to DK1 and 2; those are two of my favorite games, all time.

jacobvandy wrote on Feb 19, 2015, 22:16:

They're adding and tweaking non-set legendary powers all the time. I think the problem with that (why it's so slow going) is that you do have to take the time and test it and how it interacts with everything else, whereas with sets you can narrow down those test cases because you're ensuring each of those powers is only coming into play when you have multiple specific pieces.

Taking the Marauder DH for example, you only have a handful of variations for that build because to use its full potential requires 5 of the main slots being filled by the set. You don't have to worry about Magefist + Cindercoat being OP in that situation, because it's not possible for your turrets to fire your spenders with only 4 pieces of the set. Wizards can integrate that non-set combo into the Firebird build, but only at the cost of not being able to use a two-handed weapon. And so on.

There are a variety of lore and gameplay reasons as to why they would want sets to be flat-out better than a variety of regular legendaries, though. Easier to balance is just one of them.

I know what you're getting at, but I disagree entirely that there should be balance attempts in a glorified single player game. They should throw powers on EVERY legendary, crazy strong powers, and just let the game flow. Players SHOULD be able to create stupidly strong, broken builds, without using 5 piece set + RoRG.

My opinion, no doubt in the minority of course.

District 9 sequel? NOoooo, don't curse the world with such a request!

That movie is awesome because they don't really dig too deep into what's going to happen afterwards, aka the alien shuttle going back into space, the ghetto aliens scrabbling around, there is no in depth exploration of the racism/speciesism(?) of the south africans towards the aliens, etc. etc.

It'd be like the matrix sequels, the shiny newness worn off and explained into the ground. I get the sense that Bloomkamp knows that, and will never make a sequel, unless they drive dump trucks full of cash up to his house or something.

*EDIT* Also, Prometheus' plot is just too ridiculous. Visually gorgeous film, but my god, the writing... there is no defense.

From the little info they do have, they seem to be doubling down on sets and set bonuses for some reason.

That's just going to make even more regular legendaries pointless...they should really be trying to buff non-set legendaries so people can actually achieve similar power levels with good combos, WITHOUT sets.

Blizzard's WoW mentality is apparently contagious.
