There are two pretty simple reasons for this.
1) The vast majority of video game characters are actually non-characters. Even when they have lines, interactivity, and even plot relevance, they are often generics who may as well have their faces replaced with "ecce homo." The developers of games are predominantly adult white males, and so for them, this is the prototypical person that will be defaulted to when there is no special effort involved. They basically forget to put anyone else in.
2) The main interaction a player has with the vast majority of video game characters is trying to kill them. A cursory look at news media will show that any game that does not make a vile act impossible to commit is pilloried for encouraging and glorifying said act. GTA promotes violence against women. RE5 is racist. I can't even think of a game where you can hurt kids, which shows how scared the industry is to cross that line. A game full of adult white males is safe to produce. |

So why are you writing anything at all? Because if sharing your opinions and explaining them is useless, you shouldn't be here. You should be off doing something that matters. My point is, whenever I see you writing about... pretty much anything, you take your opinions far too seriously. The assertion that leaning, a mechanic which will always be associated by many with archaic clipping and hitbox issues, is superior to cover systems, which you claim are cheap despite everyone including AI being free to use them, is going to sound like moonspeak to lots of people, and that doesn't mean that you have some deeper understanding of games than they do.

| Which makes what I said exactly as valid as what you said. I could sit here and write three paragraphs about how everyone but Valve sucks because nobody else has last_inv, and it wouldn't matter to the electrons I displace by doing so. |

Add in rudimentary leaning (that's been in PC shooters for years) and you're set.
The only thing lean keys have ever been for is displacing use and last_inv from their rightful places. |
