Twitter

Thats because you can follow twitter accounts only with a twitter account, and it's a good way to stay up-to-date when you use certain services... so basically.. twitter isn't about tweeting, it's about easy reading of tweets that matter to you.

99% of twitter tweets are total crap anyway

You're saying open source projects are inherently less secure than closed source? There are pretty good decompilers around for most languages, so regardless of whether the hacker has access to your original code, he knows what it's doing and can look for vulnerabilities. Microsoft wishes it was otherwise.

Not even Microsoft would have let a commit through to one of the main-stays of internet security, actually the fucking foundation of internet security, that posts your entire secured ssl stream to anyone that asks on the internet. And then dragged their feet for months while it was exploited in the wild.

I think at this point OpenSSL needs to die. This isn't a bug or an exploit, it's a backdoor that was intentionally put in and let through.

Well, it turns out it's not as bad as all that (very bad still). They wouldn't get your unencrypted ssl stream, just 64 kilobyte chunks of server RAM at a time (as many times as they want). So they'd get what's in memory at the time of the hack, which could be most anything, including unencrypted passwords. I just read that the only way they'd get the private ssl key is if they were the first heartbeat request after a server reset.

The problem being that this "did not trigger any alarms, or logs" is the real one... we can not know what was stolen and what wasn't. We have to assume all sites with that RFC enabled were compromised, as in, the full encryption was compromised and can be read by attackers. I am waiting another week to make sure all sites are fixed and then I am gonna be whole-sale changing all my passwords. Gonna be a pain in the back ^^

This was apparently exploited for a whole year before the security researchers found it....
I thought we had such massive issues to the foundation structures of the internet behind us... sigh

I must say the way everything functions even in multiplayer looks amazing. You can even hide your signature from radar by going 'dark' so to speak by shutting off all non-critical systems. They also have advanced maneuvering, which the person that recorded that seems to have a total handle on.

Ok that was some impressive footage indeed Looks to be a game tailor made for VR too.

To some 105 lb annoying chick.

All points are true, except this one. Bloody Mary is not just any annoying chick, if they put her in as old lore tells it she is literally akin to a prime evil ;p

That said, I maintain that this removes itself further and further from actual gameplay. It's a dialog and weird cut-scene thing, a visual novel in a way... but there was no actual puzzle solving. Like literally NONE.

I didn't think I'd agree to this opinion but after ep2 i thought they'd fix this again. They did not. It's a good movie to watch and click through, but it's becoming a really crappy game

Seriously... WHY? Why? Why do you mention that.. how is anyone supposed to resist googling that to see what you are talking about? What's Google going to think about us now that we googled it...

Hehe, there is no way anyone can enforce likeness rules on an 8bit stylized pixelated shooter like this... which is pretty much why so many of these 8bit games exist I'd wager.

From what I have seen the AI is pretty damn broken. VA is terrible and yeah.. the plot isn't the best But aside that it looked like good action... (watched a let's play)

no a coder myself, but it is kinda befuddling. how does a flaw like that work into the system? does someone have to actually put it in, like a backdoor? or is it a debug tool someone forgot to take out? or was it like a passive vulnerability no one thought of?

This is an active massive failure of the coder in question, so massive he should be fired. ^^

you gotta realize what happened here. Kid filled the pw box with spaces " " and the xbox live interface used that to generate a hash, then it compared that to the pw hash... and it passed the check despite the hashes not matching . And that is, literally, the opposite of how hash compare should work.

If this didn't just affect the xbox machine itself but online logins in general, it may be one of the biggest security flaws ever to be discovered.

ToR has normal subscriptions. That's kind of the idea there, all the nickel and dime stuff just kind of opens up parts of the game (especially crafting). They make it all annoying enough that they want you to just cave and say 'Ah, F it, I'll just sub'.

I know I should have put a paragraph there, I meant ESO with my comment about the subscription, and SWTOR with my comment about how annoying f2p can actually be.... I blame kittens!

Pretty much, he doesn't just have an opinion, he tried to push that one others. At which point it is no longer a private matter, nor one that makes him an acceptable CEO of a major internet company.

Do movie theaters let you watch movies for free?
Do restaurants let you eat for free?

Welcome To The Real World.

You mean the real world where there are better MMO's than ESO and which don't have a monthly fee attached?

This ESO MMO is as generic as they come - there is simply no justification for the monthly fee in THIS CASE considering their competition.

Give it time, i'm sure they too will realise this.

Glad you are enjoying it though! Half a dozen beta's were more than enough for me.

Yea, says you. Ill take a monthly sub any day of a free to play model. the F2P model nickel and dimes you to death for almost anything you need or what to do In the game.

And since when has a monthly sub now become bad?

As for this being as generic as they come, I take it you haven't gone past level 15? Because the game really starts to open up after you get on the main land and questing. I have seen MMO's that are way worst then this game. This game at least has quality voice overs acting and voice overs for nearly every NPC that you talk to through your the world that is of relevance. Where is that being done in any other MMO? Certainly not in Wildstar.

Monthly sub became bad when MMO's became nothing but generic themepark clones which everyone has already played dozens of times already.

The game opening up after level 10 helps, but it's still same old same old... and does nothing to help the cumbersome combat and tired old formula.

As for voice overs - SWTOR? And it's free!

You sir are delusional, SWTOR is far from free. That game is the epitome of Nickel and Dime you to death.

Gotta agree on that, timers, cooldowns on certain missions, restrictions everywhere. SWTOR is the example of how fucking lame free to play can be. I get they want to ear money, but if they had balls they'd ask actual subscriptions. As it is, f2p mmo's are mostly complete garbage unless you play an hour a day at most.
