Flatline wrote on Feb 21, 2010, 09:24: That's my big question. It's not enough to upload save games- at 50kbps (or something around 6 kilobytes a second) it's going to take 5 minutes to transfer a save file, so I doubt it will peek at 50kbps. Even if it saturated at 50kbps, that's a hell of a lot of bandwidth for effectively a keepalive.
I wonder what else it's doing... how about: * collecting all the data on your gaming computer * monitoring your progress with the game * live-feeding in game commercials to whichever game you're playing * updating/pachting the game whenever they want to
etc. etc. |

To the topic: Having looked at the recent screenies, it's beyond my understanding why they would require Pixel Shader 3 - looks more like PS 1 LOL.
SupCom 2 is one of the few games that appear to take steps BACK on all levels, graphics, overall complexity, strategic depth, number of different units, number of buildings, consolification, etc. etc.
Someone please tell me that I'm wrong. |

are these screenshots from the PC version? I'm not overly impressed by the low-res textures, especially the terrain/ground looks awful. |

Because they are the best example for "Success without the need for DRM".
I've yet to beat GalCiv II on anything better than "hard" - I really suck at this (pretty darn good) game |

| considering people are willing to pay 2.5 times that much for Bioshock 1.1 (a.k.a. Bioshock 2) "Call of Pripyat" is totally worth $20. |

| I get your point but 8/10 = 80 % = B to B+ grade. A game with that many issues, some of which are serious, should not be given a B grade let alone anything in the A range. But that's just my 5 cents. |

Weirdo. On three pages the OCModShop Bioshock 2 review covers loads of issues with this game, yet in the end they still give it an 8 out of 10 score (justifying their decision to do so by saying other reviewers gave top scores). |

Alamar wrote on Feb 12, 2010, 21:34: Anyhoo... I run it at 1920 x 1200, and the little bit trimmed off the edge doesn't bother me, and if I get it wide screen patched, I'll likely find the new view annoying heh : )
-Alamar no offense, but why did you get a wide screen monitor in the first place? To watch movies?
Fact of the matter is, a wide screen monitor benefits from its extended aspect ratio.
It's amazing how this "bug" could happen again after the wide screen issues of Bioshock 1. One can only assume their betatesting of the PC version was so rudimentary that they didn't even notice this major flaw. |

not gonna happen anytime soon (it's 2K games, remember?)... it took them like 3/4 of a year to fix the widescreen issues of Bioshock 1 (which, by the way, is back in Bioshock 2 from what I've heard )
and do you really believe they give a damn about the ~100,000 - 200,000 folks who have a red-green color deficiency? Nah. |

isn't Alan Wake the game they used to demo hype great quad core utilization? I guess it took them so long to castrate it enough to make the damn thing run on the XBOcks. |

this preview completely destroyed all my remaining hopes for SupCom 2. It's all about pleasing the console crowd, what a waste. |

I still believe he wanted to say that they have been working on two different versions of the game, one for PC ("the engine was optimized for the multi-core architecture") and one for console ("percentage of the UI was custom made for the 360").
Guess we have to wait and see. |
