| DLC should be extra content that is made after development. The price of the DLC goes towards paying for the production of the new content. This kind of day one DLC or any kind of day one DLC is just plain balls. |

Gridphoenix wrote on Apr 21, 2012, 02:59: I am glad that people have obviously the same (bad) feeling that I had when I entered the Diablo III beta. When I posted earlier this week in a Diablo III news post that I liked Path of Exile much more, I was accused of being associated with the PoE developer (which I am not). I joined the Diablo III beta and played through the first (beta) act. Then I started looking around and found PoE. I bought me a 10$ beta ticket and guess what: All the things that I was missing from Diablo III where there:
- The graphics were IMHO much better (crisp versus blurry) - The skill tree was amazing - The rune system was cool
Now before people start shooting me again for bringing the PoE comparison: I cannot say anything about balance or endgame or longtime fun, because I am only lvl 10 Templar in PoE).
I just understand the frustration of people in this thread and can share it.
Thx for listening.
Michael I bought 3 beta tickets for PoE and don't regret it, I enjoyed playing the game and am glad to support indie studios. In my opinion though it doesn't even compare to Diablo 3.
The combat was quite stale when I tested it. Some of the skills were so badly designed you couldn't even use them effectively, (Leaping Smash moon physics for example). The graphics were pretty cool for an indie game. Crisp, decent lighting but the art direction had no soul and lacked the polish of D3.
It was also very slow and I became infintely bored within 2 days with it. The skill system was pretty coold and the talents interesting but I disliked the flow of the game and spamming potions became a bore.

Adjusting employee bonuses according to metacritic scores? This seems like a very bad idea as reviews are (or are meant to be at least partially) opinion pieces on a product and thus can range widely. This also helps promote the kind of back-scratching that happens between publications and game publishers where good review scores are rewarded with benefits i.e. early reviews, press access and complementary handjobs.
This kind of bonus model would make more sense for an indie developer since an indie game may not sell well but the developers' can still be rewarded and encouraged to keep making quality games by the publisher despite the number of sales.
Bonuses should be handed out in accordance with game sales. The best thing you could do is publish the game yourself to then have total freedom to do what you want with the money generated, i.e. Notch sharing out his dividends with all his employees, which was an epic win on his part. |

Errrr...this is basically an entirely new game and concept with the Max Payne name slapped on it. I wish they could have just called it something else but slapping a 2 or a 3 on the end of a title helps sell a game even if it has nothing to do with the originals
Still, might be a good game, who knows. Rockstar is a quality dev. |

| Will probably look nice but we have yet to see the full potential of even UE3 because console processing power is holding back the limits of what developers will do. If the next-gen consoles come around 2014 then it is likely that devs will start making launch titles using UE4 and new engines right around now. |

I was expecting this game to be okay at best in terms of quality. But remember, something doesn't have to be good to still be awesome! I am playing it for nostalgia and some mindless fun with low expectations. I am still buying the collector's version out of respect to the developers for actually finishing it and for fondness of the franchise. Plus that Duke Nukem bust will look great next to my Geralt bust from Witcher 2 CE. Yeah, I'm one of those assholes who spends money on crap like that.
Never going to buy a Modern Warfare CE though, even I have limits. |

Hmmm...and they didn't even lower the price in euros. So if you are in Europe you payed 70$ for the game plus another 20$ for a map pack only to have half of your games ruined by hackers which would be non-existant had they bothered with dedicated servers...bleh.
On the other hand, I cannot blame Activision...why make less money when you can make more? |

" "Bitching about connection problems on a pre-release demo is a bit pointless"
I disagree, cause if ya can`t connect, ya can`t try the demo.... right? Anyways, I myself have gotten to play just once so far since d/ling last night. Played as Marine, and I found I really like what I am experiencing with just the 1 play.
Not bad for a pretty well feature barren demo. Can`t wait for the final release. "
Well you have a point there

Bitching about connection problems on a pre-release demo is a bit pointless
That being said the game does unfortunately feel very sub-par. The graphics are rather poor, controls wonky and gameplay does not feel smooth or satisfying. The demo was a lot of fun though, then again almost every game is fun for the first hour or so.
Marine flashlight is useless and comes turned on as default. Best to just turn it OFF. Basic weapon is too inaccurate at long range. Aliens have a huge advantage as they move so quick you have no hope of hitting them. The only way to get kills as a marine is to get lucky with the grenade launcher, stumble on someone who doesn't know what he is doing or get in a good shot with the sniper rifle which is hard to find. Predator is over-powered when you get the mines and other weapons for him. Alien controls are wonky but they are overpowered as it is impossible to see them in the dark level as a marine and they can move behind you faster than you can get in the shots to kill them. Aliens also have too much HP.
Unless the other game modes are more balanced and fun I think the game will end up getting reviews in the 50-70% range. A shame. |

Milkman and the Lungfish level are the greatest things ever What isn't so great is how Europeans have to pay more for games, although at 2 euros I should probably stfu. When Modern Warfare 2 is 50 euros in Europe and 40 dollars in the US, though, that kinda sucks |

I actually liked the quick-cutting Marilyn Manson PR trailers, they were a guilty pleasure especially considering the juxtaposition of Marilyn Manson rock and a grandiose fantasy setting. |
