I suppose the reply of "It's not a marketing thing" is derived from all of the "marketing" George Broussard has been spewing over the years. It seems like an immediate disarm for those skeptical of anything said by people within 3D Realms.

Most of you drama queens can't even run any Crysis2 game, yet you're panting about Crysis3 (which looks just fine to me, for a console engine)? This PC elitist can no problem. |

Oh how short are our memories. Remember when Crysis engine was being showed off? Those photorealistic jungle scenes, and then when the game actaully came out with everything maxed out it didn't look as photorealistic as initial screenshots.
I remember reading an article about examples of lieing through screenshots. Bullshot article: http://www.gamepro.com/article/features/156868/the-truth-behind-doctored-screenshots/ Perhaps thats it. They learned their lesson from the past. Release screenshots now that look like sh!t so that when an actual game comes out it will look better than anticipated. Crysis on CryEngine 2 looks damn fine the way it is though.
I want to believe that Crytek will make CryEngine 3 scale much higher visually on the PC compared to the static nature of the consoles. |

You guys realize that this footage was taken of the engine running on a PS3/360, right? Yep. That's the point. They took one step forward with CryEngine 2 and two step back by cashing in on the consoles with CryEngine 3. |

And if you look at the Logo Archive (link on left) I count at least 10-15 other games that appeared on consoles and have had logos featured here. I took a look at the logo archive. It appears Walter may have lost interest in PC games during his 5 year hiatus.
Ahhh well, it's just a bunch of bits assembled in a specific way to produce a digital image. Who cares?

| Perhaps Mr. Walter Costinak needs to be informed of the lack of relevance his logos represent. It's like putting Mac themes on a primarily PC centric site. |

| I'll be checking it out once I get home. From what I hear it does use a heavily modified/upgraded Painkiller engine. This seems like a decent title by what I've seen in gameplay videos, screenshots, and forum posts. |

This kind of reminds me of Warren Spectors reaction to the criticism of Deus Ex IW. Many many PC gamers had accusations of Xbox bias. We all know how that game ended up. While not a horrible game, it could have been so much better. I'll quote him here...
We're as dedicated to the PC as we are to the Xbox. There are folks out there who feel like we went over to the dark side…. [But] we've been 'dinged' by console gamers for making too-PC-centric a game as often as we've been dinged by PC gamers for making a game that's too consoley! Specter dumbed the game down into failure by compromising. |
