I wonder if the fact that we live frighteningly close to a nuclear power plant means that this still has the potential to turn into an apocalyptic science fiction movie?
... So thats why you are called blue!!

Rolphus: Oh dear. I am sorry if I am being too critical. I didn't mean too. I am, too, tried coding a bit for Q3A. Its fun. The technology is great. I am, too, passed through all of the levels, just in the sake of nice gameplay and beautiful arenas. I also tried to figure out where the hell is the game. there was no game. sorry. it's simple as that. *no* game.
Ok, I thought. They are going for a tech demo. Cool. I spent 50$ for a tech demo. Then they got team arena out (huh?).
The worrying thing is that companies such as turbine are going in the same path. so instead of ACII we will get "Hey , look what a great engine we built.. ehhmm... we laid off the content guys few weeks ago... arrr"
See where this is going?
Btw, I do understand why any company would go in this direction, engines are more profitable than content.
Just PLEASE don't create so much hype around your tech demos!!!
... ooops, I guess I got off too critical again

Blue's News started out as a Quake site
Yeah, I remember it like it was yesterday... I clicked a link on stomped and my life never been the same
Well.. looni, about the flaming: I think a well thought argument is not to be treated as a flame. its constructive criticism.

Well, I hope you will read this, Rolphus… I think id ppl r not so interested in the gamer’s community but the gaming industry... take the quake engine for example (in which I see the turn for the worst) - Half life used it and it and half life is a great game. Why couldn't ID do it?
The answer is, unfortunately, it didn't interest them.
Adding x5 compression to the net code a year after the game release??? What the hell?
As someone wrote somewhere (sorry someone, I don't really remember who you are) - "could carmack take a minute and rent a 'story writer'" This is most certainly what valve did....
Oh well, Id guys probably are not interested in my opinion... (On the other hand if levelord or someone will say something this might have an impact :-) )
Answer to rant over
shul the magnificent.

I am going to flame fileplanet in this post. If fileplanet is at all close to your heart or you don't want to read my whining, DO NOT read on....
Just wanted to ask why fileplanet decided to make all our lives (and their servers) a bit harder with this registration thingy...
It’s like the concept where the number of logins into your site equals the exposure to banners, hence advertisement...
Stop torturing users! fileplanet never was my first choice of download but now its become ridiculous... its the only place in which to download certain files (I had to search for the uninstaller of black & white for an hour!!).
Plus- no one thought about false registration? what the hell is wrong with you ppl??? (on the other hand, false registration is good for file planets.. more members.. hmmm)
Anyhow, this kind of things pisses me off. no one will enjoy this stuff because it couldn't be USED for anything (except that "watching eyes" business)
Oh hell with it. I just hope the next step will not be money charging, because that will be a BIG mistake.

do what I do: wait for a Geforce 3(+), 2+GHZ cpu and a nice lcd flat display for your desktop. Then wait for a lottery win. The games in the market right about then will be quite nice. I promise. ... /me knows this is a far-fetched plan, but its a plan nonetheless....

Well, AO sucks because of plenty of bugs BUT... a. it has better graphics than AC and EQ. b. you can drive around. c. you can learn nano tech stuff d. the game is set to be a four year-war, this means all those missions you are talking about are the least interesting thing in the game. e. the game will probably be modified in time to suit all players (like I know AC guys does) f. I read that players can make missions for other players, so this basiclly means the skys are the limit...
all in all, I am not going to play the game because I don't have the time, but it seems it is going to be one cool game.

Hey, I asked that question at blues daily thingy!
Anyway.. if that is what they are, I wonder if it is done in the server or the clients side, if it in the server, I suggest using cookies so registered members will not see posts they already read on one computer (lets say "work") while reading blues from the other ("home")

... and to think that not long ago you couldn't download games of very little weight over the net, run them on virtual machines mega bytes in size and get a 120x120 window of a doom-like game...
or didn't you?
