18. so it's true... Jul 10, 2008, 15:50 shul

so it's true what they say... the longer the press release the worse the game...

for exmaple, for diablo III all they need to say is "you are this character, and you kill stuff"....

but there is an exception for every rule.. I really want ubisoft to do good with everything they do now we have activblizzard on our corporate hands...

8. Best NYC Internet access? Jun 18, 2008, 18:11 shul

Hi All,
So in two days I'll become a new york resident for the next two years (at least) and wanted to ask which is the best internet provider out there; I already know (from several accounts, including blue's) that verizon is *not* a good choice, so my question to you is - what should I get ?

Thank you for any comment on the subject :-)

shul

11. DO NOT DRINK AND TAKE PILLS! Jun 1, 2008, 04:57 shul

Word to the wise: do not drink and take antihistamines. I wouldn't recommend it. My GF said "she is tripping like on LSD" that evening..

5. Re: Slow Internet Mar 16, 2008, 12:42 shul

from that thread:

Just contacted Verizon Tech Support and showed them this thread.
Here is the response:
"We are aware of this problem as of 13:45 and we are working toward fixing this problem. We do have a faulty equipment that is causing this problem in your area. Right now I don't have an estimated time for when it will be fixed and I am really sorry about that, but have been working on this for some time now."

3. Since brooklyn is mentioned.. Mar 16, 2008, 12:37 shul

Hi, I need some advise, didn't get any a few days ago, maybe it was because I posted too late,

I know blue is from around NYC and I wanted some advice - my spouse is going to work at the hospital of joint disease (HJD) at 14th and 2nd in Manhattan, and we need somewhere to live; so what are your thoughts? we are looking for something cheap with less than 30 minutes commuting there, would Brooklyn heights be better than Hoboken, for example?

Anyway, I am looking for a job as well, so if you have any leads in the NYC area :-)

thnx,
shul

18. this is hell Feb 14, 2008, 14:12 shul

mark my words:
1. using CUDA for this could have been done by an open source project, no need to buy ageia
2. a dedicated PPU will always be better than CUDA
3. we haven't seen the end of this

23. Re: I wanna get Feb 14, 2008, 08:14 shul

I've been following this technology for some time (~8 years now) and I can tell you DrEvil is right. back then, using a 1Ghz AMD CPU I could barely put more than 50 objects on the screen. the primitives were the only thing you could use (spheres, cubes, etc.) if you wanted to get any sane performance. Even now, download and play warmonger without a PPU and see if your state of the art machine can pull it off all the way through - and we are talking about novodex here, one of the best and fastest SDK around for a while now.

Consider this: when 3dfx started most of the 3d was on the CPU and it was said that no one needs GPUs to do more than send graphics at high resolutions (remember CGA?) to the screen.. the CPU will do all the rest. 3dfx proved them wrong and other followed suit. I think PPUs will go through the same path.
