Odd, I like to watch those Minecraft vids but I have not the slightest interest to play the game itself.

This. I love seeing what people come up with and I wish there was a way to use those kinds of things in a game against other players. That million flaming arrows flying at you, how cool would something like that be in a war game inside the minecraft engine. I really want that game to become a castle seige game, where people devise the most elaborate defenses possible and then gamers try and rush the castle with catapults, trebs, bombs, digging tunnels, everything. The whole world is destructable, so lets blow the shit out of everything and have some fun! What is the point of building so much if you can't try and blow it all up!

"Google Android More Vulnerable Than IPhone, Antivirus Maker Says."

Allow me to translate:

A company that makes money selling AV software says that one Linux-based device is more vulnerable to viruses than another Linux-based device because it is open-source.

Just ignore that Linux-based devices are not vulnerable to viruses and give them money.

*rolls eyes*

Yes, if you INSTALL something on your Android phone that does something bad, including agreeing to give it permissions that it should not have, then it can do bad things. This is NOT a virus - this is the user being careless and installing malware.

Not all malware are viruses. Viruses "infect" computers - Linux-based systems (including Android and iPhones) cannot be infected...they can only be compromised by users agreeing to install bad things.

EDIT: The iPhone App market checks each app to see that it's playing nice before they post it. The Android App market posts anything and relies on the user to actually READ what permissions the app wants and decide if they want to grant them.

So, based on that, you could argue that iPhone is a safer platform simply because it takes some of the control away from the end-user who might not make the right decisions.

Either way, AV software is sort of like putting wheels on a boat.

The Android AV software I've seen simply checks the software vs a known list of bad programs, with a few other features such as locating lost/stolen phones and such thrown in to entice people who know they don't really need AV apps.

I played the Steam version with the Wesp patches, and it ran just fine.

I'm 99% certain that this was on sale over Xmas.

I mean...c'mon...would probably be better than what Hollywood will come up with.

I have an idea. Why don't they stop making copy-paste grind trash and make actual fun games? Maybe people are tired of playing the same shitty grind they've been playing since Ultima Online.

It's a catch 22, Dok.

MMO players decry the monotony of WoW clone after WoW clone...then flip out when they get in an MMO and some aspect of it isn't exactly like WoW.

I hear you, though - I'd be interested in maybe paying for an MMO that wasn't more like a second job than a form of entertainment.

Pick any STALKER game, get the "Complete" mod compilation for it and prepare for open-world FPS bliss!

I have faith that these dudes won't screw this awesome franchise up for consoles.

Not familiar with this - will have to check the Googles for his "Complete" of which you speak. I grabbed the expansion on sale, but I think I'm going to replay the original from the beginning, soon.

Only mod I used was one that let me pay to repair my gear. (I suppose that might be considered lame, but it made the difference between "awesome fun game" and "pain in the ass" so I'll own it.)

EDIT: Just read up on this mod. Sounds epic. Thanks, Prez!

"so safe that viruses barely exists"

What a load of horse shit. Did Apple write this piece of trash?

Care to enlighten us on when an OS X box has ever been hit by a virus? You know...in the wild, without requiring the user to enter the admin password for the box to install it?

Linux, and by extension OS X and Android, aren't impervious to malware...but it does require the user to consent to install it. "Barely" might actually overstate the risk.

Though I'll agree the article is rubbish...recommending installing MS Office!? $200 for an app that DOES create vulnerabilities to MS Office exploits, when you can get a better, more secure, app for free with NeoOffice.

2 player co-op

Recommended requirements:

I can't understand why I would pay to upgrade to a new version of Windows until I have a reason.

The only reason I maintain a Windows machine is to play games - so far, I haven't run across a game that I couldn't live without that required Win7.

Upgrading a Microsoft OS without cause, when everything is running just fine, is asking for trouble and a smoking hole in my wallet.

[EDIT: Removed exact cost for Win7 as it is highly variable.]

I never thought I'd say these words, but @#$% you, Bioware.

Seriously.

Going from Origins to one playable main character? None of the endings of DA are canon, including the Dark Ritual?

DA and Mass Effect are great IPs - but you're @#$%ing them up with this dumbing-down crap. You made a ton of money on the originals, so chop the bean-counters and marketing wonks into bait and get back to making games people love, rather than just squeezing the life out of them.

Gah!
