Wow this is still going? I thought APB died years ago.

According to their blog post, it's something like the 19th most played game on Steam.

I confess having been an off-and-on APB addict since RTW Beta. The level of customization is amazing, the gameplay has epic highs and lows. It is flawed, but below the surface is a lot deeper than it looks - the skill curve can really have a huge impact...

...of course, without an anti-cheat system, that just made the problem worse.

It's not cheater-free, now, but it is leaps and bounds beyond where it was. I've actually gone back to playing fairly regularly.

But then, my love of broken toys is well documented.

Wow, I've never even heard of this. It looks miserable to me, mostly because it's the type of game that seems so limitless that you need to make enormous time investments, time I don't have.

Like Kerbel, which I played for exactly 20 minutes.

Fair enough on the time investment - I feel your pain. I basically have a about a quarter of my day that I get to divvy up between games and sleep.

But understand that is a free-time problem, not a problem with KSP. The four or five hours most people require to even make stable orbit in KSP is working as intended.

There are plenty of games that provide instant gratification - KSP is one of the few that provides real challenges.

The LAST thing I need is another T-shirt...but I'd totally get a Blue's shirt. I've always regretted not grabbing on when they were around.

Why the @#%^ do they do this?

1. Buy beloved Intellectual Property
2. Ignore existing fanbase of said IP

I just watched the trailer on Steam, and I think it gave me epilepsy.

Not "caused an epileptic seizure" from a pre-existing condition, but actually gave me epilepsy.

If I could fix one thing about AC:Black Flag, it would be the annoying cutscenes they stuck after frequently repeated events.

Do I really NEED to see the same couple of 3 second cutscenes EVERY TIME I capture/loot/scuttle an enemy ship? Something I might do several times in a single naval engagement?

Who thought that was a good idea for a feature?

Yeah, I'm pretty much done with KS and Early Access stuff at this point. If something comes along that would be truly awesome to see - e.g. a remake or homage to games like Outlaws, Insterstate '76, etc. - I might....might...go in. Otherwise nope.

Yeah, I hear ya, man. I mean...wait..what?

Outlaws? Interstate '76?

From what I've read you get vision fatigue from focusing on the screen so close to your eyes, removing the rift can take quite a while to recover normal vision.
You're focusing at infinity, so it doesn't matter how physically close the screen is to your eyes. There can be an issue if you're constantly looking at things that are close to you in the simulated environment, though.

This is the arguement Oculus makes, but I'm not buying it.

Your eyes are focusing on something right in front of your face. Whether that image represents infinity or duckies or bunnies or what not is up to your brain to interpret - it is not going to prevent eye strain to the physical parts of your eye that are focusing on the screen 4" from your eyeball.

There are shitty games out there that have made more than $30M in an afternoon.

Yes, this is am amazing crowdfunding effort, but the assumption they're committing fraud without any shred of supporting data it's a bit tinfoil hattish, yes.

If nothing else, what do they gain from such an act? Other than a ton of scrutiny?

Because NV is not the Roman numeral for four?

I'll never understand this and Dragon Age.

You've got a relatively deep and wildy successful original IP-based RPG!

What are you going to do next?!

Remove everything original and RPG from the sequel! FANS WILL LOVE IT!

Man. The original Wasteland.

This and the first Wizardy will always hold an immense amount nostalgia for me.

But really...wasn't Fallout really "Wasteland 2"?

I wish them great success, though. If they can bring me back to that gaming experience from all those decades ago...more power to them.

Assassin's Creed games are one of the few that I'll play on a console rather than the PC.

They're a guilty pleasure, to begin with, and playing them on the PC as a mediocre port just makes the shortcomings all the more glaring (for example, having a controller designed for dog paws makes the combat SOMEWHAT challenging, rather that dead boring).

You're not alone.

I've probably played the first chapter six times in those six years. I think I have to get further, to get to what everyone seems to think is "the awesome" but...the thing of it is, if the first chapter of a book doesn't strike my fancy, I toss it...
