4. Re: The Darkness II Co-op Detailed Dec 6, 2011, 14:25 Slashman

Why would one need co-op in a game like this?

From what I recall...the source material is about a lone guy up against his former mob mates right?

I've always felt like TA and Sup Com(1) were a separate type of RTS than C&C Generals, Red Alert and standard C&C.

SC was a different kettle of fish too. So was Warhammer 40k(the first one...can't stand DOW 2).

TA and Sup Com were not that exciting for me...too large scale and kind of boring.

Generals and RA were more immediate action and somehow more satisfying.

I played the hell out of SC and Brood War but have no plans to touch SC2.

DoW is still my RTS of choice up to now. I love the racial variety and brutality of the combat. My only beef with it is lack of true flying units and that you can't zoom out as far as I'd like.

The C&C series would be in a much better spot if EA hadn't shoved one out the door every year.

C&C Pre-EA:
1995
1996
1997

C&C Post-EA
1999
2000
2003
2007
2008
2010

Nothing really changed as far as release schedule after EA picked them up.

Does that list include Red Alert and Generals titles too?

Yes, but not expansions or Renegade. Can't remember if I included Sole Survivor.

I was never a real C&C fan. I thought Warcraft 2 was far better, then moved to Total Annihilation, then decided I no longer found RTS games even slightly entertaining.

I tried Generals, but it felt too zoomed in (which made no sense as it was 3D) and too bland. Plus, as I mentioned, I just wasn't into RTS games by that point.

Wow...can't recall the last time I came across someone who thought Generals was bad...especially after Zero Hour.

As would the Dragon Age series if they hadn't started that trend with it.

I loved selling SOWs. Felt like a crack dealer.

Geez man...now I feel old.

I never paid for SOW though. I had some friends who were shamans(I think it was Shamans who cast that...)

I also remember the insanely long trains of mobs in the Estate of Unrest. Good times, good times...

I will say this, Witcher 2's box is very heavy. I consider a game worthless unless it can realistically be used as a bludgeoning device.

Who the hell did you bludgeon?? Bat

ya thats a cool story, neat when you have no possible way to prove or be disproven. if human behavior proves anything it's that you'll buy it like the drooling self sheering sheep you are. no matter if the login for the game requires constant contact with bobby koticks junk, you'll get it, and you'll love it even the sweet nothing whispers bobby's giving you whilst you play.

You're free to believe whatever you want. Human behavior has nothing to do with it. I wasn't impressed by anything I saw of Diablo 3. I think Titan Quest and its Immortal Throne expansion were way better than Diablo 2 and Diablo 3 doesn't appear to offer anywhere near that type of ability customization, secondary classes etc. But feel free to keep beating on your chest like you've won something.

sc2 was a total flop compared to it's predecessors imo. diablo 3 opponents won't be saying the same thing after it's release, and it's sales will easily deliver hard evidence to support that statement.

I'm not an opponent to the game, it'll sell like hotcakes because its a Blizzard game and most Blizzard fans appear to be zombies. Hell...WoW proves that handily. It just won't get a sale from me.

who knows tho maybe you're right and the 5 hours or so of gameplay in the beta is the only good part of the game. i highly doubt it. and considering i'm judging from a position of having played it, and you're judging from a position of total ignorance minus a few shiney screenshots, i'll take my own beliefs on that, they're situated on a much sturdier foundation of reason.

And I if your opinion were worth more to me than the first part of your name, that might mean something...but sadly it doesn't.

I own most Blizzard games, and I enjoy what they create, though I don't consider myself to be a Blizzard zealot. You don't have to worship a game company to enjoy what they put out.

Except that what they put out isn't that fantastic IMO. In their firm determination not to innovate or push any boundaries, they just stopped making products that were interesting to me.

I own every Blizzard game up to Warcraft 3.

Really Turd?(apt name btw.)

I still don't have Starcraft 2 and I'm not planning to get it...even the free version. I'm passing on Diablo 3 too. And I pre-ordered Diablo 2 when it came out.

Blizzard stopped being absolutely amazing some time ago. Can't say if it's Activision's fault or not...but I stopped buying into their hype. Just not that impressed by them anymore.

FYI: Download is just under 14.0GB!!

Not counting MMOs, I think DA:O still holds the record, as the complete version on Steam is something like a 24 gig download.

Thanks for reminding me that I really need to back my copy up. No way I'm looking forward to downloading all that again.

Orcs must die is #8. That's pretty impressive. I really like that game. Picked up the DLC for it.

I picked up New Vegas finally and some of the DLCs. I didn't bother to get every one because I have no idea where I'll find the time to get through it all.

Got Xotic(a rather unique and underrated FPS), Hard Reset and I had pre-ordered Arkham City.

I'm going to hold off getting Skyrim until they patch some stuff and honestly I'm fine with that because my cup currently runneth over.

Wait...did someone mention Star Ruler? Make it stop...please! Wreck
