You're talking to the guys that think they're just complimenting women when they yell "SHOW US YOUR TITS" and "WILL YOU GO OUT WITH ME" when they meet them in a game. Or see them on youtube. Or pretty much anywhere that doesn't require them to actually talk to girls face-to-face. I think this is going to be lost on them.

Stereotype much?

Seriously. Why is it that people can't make a point or counterpoint without this immature 'You live in your mom's basement so no wonder you'd think that' crap?

I don't think the issue is as widespread and all-encompassing as some people make it out to be. Personally I don't think booth babes add much to E3. The women who do it don't really care about gaming. They care about getting paid. It's kind of a relic from the past that game companies hold onto because it's familiar I guess.

That said, I still don't buy into there being all these untold millions of female gamers just itching to get into the industry and play the same sorts of games traditionally played by males, only all the sexism is preventing them from doing so.

Considering that I've spent years fixing PCs and all the ones I've fixed for countless males and females alike, I can't name the last time I found anything resembling a hardcore RTS, shooter or RPG on a PC owned by a female. I've found plenty of Sims installations. I've found plenty of pointless casual games like Luxor, Bejeweled and Bubble Witch. But pretty much nothing in the realms of games that guys usually play.

So I guess my question is: Where are all the droves of gaming females we're offending in this industry?

Just out of curiosity, that 45% of female gamers. What are they playing?

I was just worried that was going to be the FINAL price! Their reasoning for charging that much in Alpha is sound though.
Their final price is going to be like $20 or $30 I think.

Which is why I said I'm waiting for the final release to buy.

There is no big payoff for getting in early on an alpha like this. People who really want to are more than welcome to. This isn't rocket science. And no one is twisting anyone's arm to make them buy in now. It's by choice.

24. Re: Planetary Annihilation's $90 Alpha Jun 15, 2013, 00:08 Slashman

This is all explained on the Steam page as well by the devs.

The price for early access will go down as they complete more of the game and get more features in.

You don't lose anything if you just wait.

I'm waiting til launch myself. Not sure why anyone would jump in at this point apart from the novelty of playing an alpha.

He should add a few levels of mage to that. Never know when you'll need a magic missile or two...

You've got to ask yourself why Micorsoft would do something like that.

Something just doesn't make sense. Did they really think that Sony would go with the same model just because they announced it and make it all even?

It's got me scratching my head. It's almost like I'm missing part of the puzzle because no one could be this stupid...right? Dunce

My biggest issue with Rebirth is that I'm stuck in one player ship with a linear upgrade path determined by the plot. Not piloting cap ships isn't so much of an issue. But only having the one ship to fly is relatively limiting.

3 really had me scratching my head. Think I played like 2-3 hours before uninstalling it...didn't feel anything like the previous games.

It actually does feel like the previous games. Just not right away. Eventually you get the weapons and you begin to get thrown into fights with insane numbers of enemies. It's nothing like CoD at that point at all.

You just didn't give it enough time. Even the reviews tend to agree that at first, you wonder what they were doing, but after a while it's all back to the way it was in 1.

Yeah, unless they somehow turn everything back to the way it used to be, which is seriously doubtful, this isn't going to work. And since they're calling it a sequel to the worst one in the series, I'm thinking that's not their plan. I mean, why does every game now have to be about the twitch mentality? Everything is now, now, now. Aside from nearly everything Paradox and MATRIX puts out (which are hardcore for the most part), everything has turned into more of a 'I don't want to wait, show me now' kind of thing. It sucks. I was reading some of the OLD issues of CGW yesterday (think early-90's, DOS-era, before Win95) and there are so many games that made you actually put TIME and EFFORT into using them.It wasn't instant gratification...and I think gaming has lost that and Crusader, as it is right now, is a perfect example...

=-Rigs-=

Yeah but all the experts are calling it 'progress' and 'accessibility'. Why should some level of skill or competence mean that you can progress further in a game than I can? Can't I just click things and mash buttons while obtaining all the rewards you're getting ?

I presume you're joking. There are some on here who I wouldn't be sure at all.

I bought Stronghold 2, my God was that bad. I'd heard how great Stronghold was and SH2 looked so beautiful so I snapped it up. Sure enough, it was beautiful. By far the best looking RTS I'd played. Shame about the actual game!

Sarcasm is so hard to convey on the internet without smileys...

Depending on how you view 'final version', you may have a few years to wait.

I looked at the patch notes for the first game and there were tons of issues getting fixed up until the final patch.

Most people seem to have gotten into SoTS1 after that final patch.
