Does anyone actually know the console-to-PC ratio for SKyrim sales.

I run a gajillion mods on Skyrim, but I can't honestly say that I never would have bought it if mods weren't available.

People sometimes overestimate the impact modding has on a game. I know quite a few people who don't use mods in Skyrim period. Not even SkyUI.

There is very little micromanagement in Dota unless you play a micro 'heavy' hero like Chen or Meepo. Most of the time you control one unit. You glance at your minimap and look at the screen, make decisions based on the action like pretty much any other game. Items are hotkeys, you memorize them within a few games or make your own. Your upgrade path is not a complex formula, you pick skills that you're comfortable with or ones that will help you win vs what you're facing.

Play whatever you find fun, I don't really care I just found your comment funny.

I think his point is that not a lot of people play Dota 2 this way because the general expectation is that you will use its inherent complexity past just doing what you want. Dota 2 players can be pretty brutal when it comes to playing your hero 'properly'.

HotS takes away the item fudging and perfect skill point placement at the right time and just makes a straight forward MOBA with fun at the core. Some people won't like it but Blizzard has always been about appeal to the broadest base of players. That usually means making people feel like they are doing something even if they thnk they are doing more than they are. Nothing wrong with that. I enjoy HotS a lot. And I don't much like MOBAs myself.

Trying to resurrect MOO is what has ruined a lot of promising 4x franchises.

You can't go home again. It's time to move on and do something fun and imaginative on your own.

I have lost count of the number of 'spiritual successors' and 'faithful reimaginings' that got so wrapped up in the hype and rose-tinted glasses that they just didn't make a good game. It's time to let it go.

Eh I preordered Xcom: Enemy Unknown and was pretty happy with it. It helped that I got Civ 5 free as a pre-order bonus though.

I may end up pre-ordering Xcom 2 if someone doesn't stop me. Wreck

Been a long time since true PC-centric in ALL AREAS has been done. Hud, UI, options, zoom, camera control, key mapping, shortcuts; it all matters.

What? Divinity: Original Sin, Wasteland 2 and Pillars of Eternity come to mind as recent games that are completely designed for PC.

What about pretty much any 4x game ever? PC exclusives never really went anywhere. Consoles suck for most strategy games.

Major shield here, big gun there, missile set here. There was no way to get really creative with it.

That was my experience also. I very much like the concept, but the fact that you either placed stuff in x way or fail was a big downer.

I think they tried to make the game too hard instead of fun.

Been enjoying GC-III. The tech-tree isn't as straight froward as the last game, but that's mostly a good thing. I think it helps to eliminate some of the rock, paper, scissors feel of combat. Colony management feels better too. The adjacency bonuses are nice as they make you plan the setup of colonies a little more. The special tiles seem to have an unfortunate tendency to provide tourism bonuses when there are like 1 or 2 tourism improvements further into the tech tree. Still seems to be a few areas where I think some small adjustments or additions would improve things but overall a great game.

Getting past the combat is difficult for me. Not just the fact that it's hands off, but the fact that it is so difficult to get the viewer to sensibly show the battle. That, combined with any sort of pre-combat deployment/engagement options for fleets is a huge annoyance. I'm not saying it has to be Sword of the Stars or anything, but Stardock could have done much better in this area.

Either that or exclude combat period if you aren't going to make it compelling. It makes a huge joke out of having a ship designer.
