I'll check it out later for sure. I'd really like a decent multishot build like I used to have but it just feels way weaker than it used to be.

Anyways getting back to Diablo 3 I am not really feeling my Demon Hunter since the big rebalance patch. Maybe its just because I'm using a pre-patch Windforce or something but it just feels like I do less damage than before and can't get a satisfying skill setup. Gloom feels weird now too, I don't like the change. Grenades still feel terrible, Bolas are ok but I run with friends and we have enough visual effects going around as it is.

I keep going back to my Wizard as the most fun to play. I hope the Crusader is good though because I don't care for Monk or DH at all anymore.

Game ain't worth shit.

I don't white knight like you Verno, I say it like it is.

I don't "white knight" anything, sorry you were mistaken.

Played d3 for 5 days, game bored me to tears. 1 day to 60, 4 days in torment, build dont matter - pick a generator, load up on your class stat and farm away hoping you get legendaries or sets that make it somewhat more interesting.

I'd say if you played for 5 days that you got your moneys worth but maybe you just value your time differently. I am not particularly invested one way or the other. In fact I've had quite a few arguments with people over the games flaws. But I think most people can find $20 worth of enjoyment in it.

lol polls on character skills in an ARPG.

When you have no real build opinions within the characters... you do silly character polls like these. Easy pass, the core game is too basic waste of $20 as is.

Your butthurt over not-PoE games is pretty amusing.

The game is easily worth $20.00, even moreso since the big patch.

Conversely I found POE to still have annoying desync issues and gave up on it awhile ago.

Outside of launch window Diablo 3 was fine. It had many other problems but latency isn't really one.

Not usually, no, but 2 nights in a row they did after 2.0. I think it was Thursday and Friday. The first night getting into games was very hit and miss (maybe connecting to 20% of games), but once in you were ok. The second night you could create games but the latency was out of this world bad (>1000 often.) There were lots of official posts about it, but in the end the result was "server load."

That's what I mean by launch window stuff. Patch days, expansion launches, retail launch, etc. Known big traffic days where its pretty easy to avoid any issues by just playing something else. If this stuff was a deal breaker for me I wouldn't be playing many games at all.

The only good thing that came from this was that the RMAH basically subsidized my copy of the game.

No it's not worth bothering unless you have literally no other RPGs to play or replay. It is very much a B studio game that lacks polish everywhere.

That's funny you should mention that because it's the first reason to pop into my head. Is creationism that big of a problem in the states?

From an article a couple of years ago:
About 46 percent of people say creationism explains the origin of humans. Just 15 percent say humans evolved without the assistance of God, a Gallup poll finds.

That's fucking scary that so many people lack any real critical thinking ability.

Absolutely, it is a mess. Never mind how long the offline mode should have taken or that, obviously, it should have been offline from day 0, this game is a mess and offline mode isn't going to change that. It may enable modding which in turn rescues it to some extent but there's no point. Anno, Tropico and SimCity 4 are all much better than this will ever be.

I played it again recently to see if the various patches have helped. They have, in particular with traffic, but the problems run too deep for patches to fix it. I've referred to it as SimSeveralSmallTowns in the past (with my trademark cutting satire surely shaming EA into rethinking their practises) because there's actually a decent builder until you get to what it claims is about 15,000 sims. I say "claims" because on the UI element which displays the population calls GetFudgedPopulation() - yes, really! - which fakes this exponentially. After this, the piss poor simulation can't seem to assign jobs properly or model things like education.

This is all made worse by the resource system. This is called City Specialisation and is supposed to make each city different but it has the opposite effect. Apart from the effectively cosmetic differences between the industries, every city is build around where these resources can be mined/drilled/etc - which is typically in the sort of flat, open area where one might want to build a city.

All this is why I quickly stopped caring about the city size. It's no exaggeration to say that the maps could be a quarter of the size they are now and without the city specialisation junk wasting prime space, the simulation would be maxed out.

Wow that's unbelievable, thanks for taking the time to explain it man. Damned shame, I grew up on the Simcity games and its sad to see them so fucked up.

Actually, no calculations pertaining the actual loaded city were ever offloaded to the magic place, except when importing or exporting city-related export data (meaning available resources to the other cities and resources being consumed from the other cities by that city) so, no, neither sarcasm nor exaggeration. It was, quite literally, a few bytes of data.

Not that it would make any difference, the game is broken when I stopped playing it. Half my cities were non-functional due to disappearing utility trucks and gigantic retardation-related traffic jams

Yeah that's what I heard from people playing, the simulation itself completely breaks down later on and it would only get worse with larger city sizes.

Offline mode is nice but sadly they designed the game around the regional concept which seems to be the bigger problem. Apparently the simulation starts breaking down with these city sizes, let alone doing anything larger.
