Tons of things copy from another, so Apple should be the only one allowed to have logical smart phones? Apple has always been like this, somehow they want to corner a market instead of just letting the market be what it is and compete within that. IMO they all take ideas from one another, I call it product improvement. And how many billions in the bank do they need to feel secure?

It's one thing to have another mobile operating system for handheld devices like a competitor but when you're just literally copying features wholesale and admitting it in email then yeah I would be forced to side with Apple on that. The patent battle is in many ways as much Samsungs fault as anyone else. Apple built a great base and other companies have been building on that base in their own unique ways instead of just "we need parity, take <X> and replicate". Hell I don't particularly care for Windows Phone but at least Microsoft put a unique spin on a mobile OS.

The first AC game had some problems too so I wouldn't write this off. It's a pretty competent GTA type game with some rudimentary stealth and hacking mechanics. They fostered some insane hype which is working against them unfortunately.

Another user here opened my eyes to corn subsidies, the willful ignorance towards HFCS isn't surprising considering how much money is involved.

Err what? I mean Apple has some shitty practices I'm not happy about but Samsung and Google have wholesale copied massive portions of their mobile hardware and software.

Ars enforces quality standards more than they "censor" anything which frankly makes it a lot more pleasant to read. Not exactly uncommon either, most websites do it including this one to some extent. I hold a number of conservative views and have never found myself censored on Ars which is mostly liberal.

Oh it's royalty through advertising all right, its just not paid to the copyright owners There are many similar plugins/apps for various media centers like it, they throw them up onto the stores to make money for awhile then rename and upload under a different developer account after they get nuked.

Personally I just use Plex (a legal/approved app) to stream my own content from home to wherever I am. My girlfriend loves it too, she can watch her crappy Greys Anatomy while waiting at the doctors office.

Speaking of TV, I just started using an app for android and plugin for XBMC called "Cartoon HD", which sounds like a cartoon channel, but contains everything from the top 250 imdb films, to game of thrones, tons of anime and cartoon series.. all in HD.

I couldnt believe how well it worked when I first tried on my HTC One, video loaded/buffered almost instantly and playback was in full HD. Quite a gem of a free app, thats for sure. You have the option to either stream or download when you start also, so if youre going to be in a low reception area or have low data caps and want to download on wifi before watching later, it just works.

Most of that is copyrighted shit though and that app will be nuked from both stores. I'm no saint with my entertainment setup but Blue has told people before not to post stuff like this, just a heads up.

I played the PS4 version of Watch Dogs at a buddys place on the weekend and it ran like absolute dogshit compared to the PC version.

Game itself seemed fun but not at all like what they had demo'd in the past.

Could you link something about that, Vern. I'm not certain I know what you mean. I wouldn't be surprised however. We get screwed on everything up anyway. Cars, food, booze, we always pay way more. In many ways this country is stuck in the 19th century. I love it, but infuriates the shit of me in so many way. I'm going to have to leave it eventually.

Sure, this article dives into what I was referring to which is apparently becoming very common place up there. Basically suppliers holding retailers hostage through threats of holding back product, giving competitors better pricing and legal intimidation.

I'm in Canada on business a good chunk of the year so I'm always shocked at the difference in prices of various goods. I keep a close eye on my grocery budget especially since my living compensation from work only goes so far, I usually spend almost double up there compared to stocking up in New York, especially if I want fresh produce and decent meat.

We run from meese. Most of us hate the Maple Laffs. I'm sorry, but we don't apologize way too often. And Vermont maple syrup is better than K-bec maple syrup.

Of course, like you I was being silly with stereotypes that aren't reality, many Americans like good beer, don't beat their chest and don't like guns

I'm actually in Canada all the time for business, love Ontario and Saskatchewan. If you think that maple syrup scam is something, do some reading about what companies are doing with price protection in grocery up there. The sad part is thats all legal somehow. I was appalled at some of the prices you guys pay.

With all the PS4 and XBone hype, and no mention of a PC release anywhere Im left wondering how this will be ported over to the PC. I imagine rather sloppily.

Uhhhh it's same day as console version and the PC version looks by far the best out of them all. Ubisoft also tends to do pretty good PC ports.

Sigh. So I guess the ideal for you would be to log in, instantly get a level 60 paragon 200 character with all BiS items so you can try out all the builds?

Your selective reading is amusing but no, I don't mind farming otherwise I wouldn't be playing Diablo. I do like actually achieving the goals I set in the game which are heavily reliant on specific itemization (even moreso in this iteration of Diablo) and I don't mind it taking 250 hours instead of 300. I don't subscribe to your rigid definition of what ARPGs are either, I enjoy both the gameplay and the itemization but its very subjective. There are some classes that are pretty to play even while leveling and there are others that only shine when you hit certain builds with certain items.

There's the journey, there's the destination and Blizzard has catered to those who want only the destination, as fast as possible, to disastrous results (disastrous relative to the potential D3 had considering the legend of D1/2). This is supposed to be a Diablo game, not World of Warcraft. The entire purpose of these sorts of games is to farm for items while making do with incomplete and imperfect builds. That's literally the crux of the genre.

Except that's not what happened. You still have a very low chance of getting good items, it's not like they all exist perfectly rolled in a vacuum and are just waiting for you to play 3 rifts with the buff and shazam. Your rant ignores the fact that with or without the buff it is still extremely difficult to make a "complete" build for one class, let alone all classes. That's without going into the ongoing balance shifts within the game and other content additions. As someone who grinded the shit out of both games it is still very much a Diablo game and people aren't handed T6 on a platter or something. I've had extremely good luck and extremely poor luck both with and without the loot drop, it is all still very much RNG.

The game has far more important flaws to be focusing on, particularly related to itemization. When you have half of the dropped weapons practically unusable due to the piss poor gem design, the amount of legendary drops as a complaint is laughable by comparison.

Time spent != how good the game is. I'd rather play 5 hours of a great game than 100 hours of a mediore game. D3 is a mediocre game and spamming Legendary drops doesn't change that.

Do I really need to spell out "time enjoyably spent" for you? Especially considering I already did in the text you quoted. Come on. I am quite ok with them upping the drop rate as many builds are item-centric now and I would rather actually enjoy using the build as opposed to waiting forever for items to drop so I can play the specific build I'm interested in.

I don't think Diablo is a mediocre game anymore since adventure mode, its just bordering on "good" and is pretty fun in a group setting. I certainly enjoy it more than other ARPG games on the market but of course that won't last forever and as I said I don't really want it to.

They're finally adding back ladders, more items and a bunch of other stuff in content patches so I'm sure the game won't get boring because of the drop rate. And if it does, oh well, they can adjust it. It wouldn't be the first time.

Maybe Mario can be whatever the hell Japan wants him to be because Japan is kinda crazy and who cares. Seriously go watch some of their game shows and commercials sometime then let me know if you think White Mario is a real problem.

Verno, I wish I had your luck. I tired Verno's advice on RRG, I'm over 50 act one caches with that method, plus whatever I had before without a ring. *sigh*

Sorry dude, its just a numbers game, you'll get it. Do a rift to break it up a bit, it gets monotonous after awhile.

It's more short-sighted design from the D3 team really. Do they expect there to be anyone left playing in ~3 months given that everyone will be full-on BiS within a couple weeks at this point?

To do T6 reliably you need a really optimized build with really optimized gear (or uh, be a WD) which isn't as easy as farming for a few hours, try adding a few hundred hours to your estimate. If any ARPG gives me 200 hours of gameplay then I call that a bargain. I don't want to play Diablo 3 forever, there are other games out there. I'd rather enjoy my time in it than have it be drawn out even further in a genre that is already known for grinding.
